As seen in an article posted by Kotaku, Sony has merged one of their Sony Ericsson phones with a Playstation Portable, creating the hybrid "Playstation Phone" prototype unit you see above you in a pic posted by Engadget. The tech is reportedly based off Google's own Android 3.0 platform, and will have a dedicated custom Sony Marketplace for users to download and purchase games for this unit. Call me skeptical, but I'm not totally sure if I want to merge my gaming and cellphone privileges with this gadget here. First off, there's no analog stick, and it's going to be replaced by a touch-sensitive track pad instead. Secondly, like the PSP Go before it, the PSPhone will not have any UMD or Memory Stick compatibility, so old PSP users can rule out any of their older stuff being used for this baby. Even with specs reported to be 1GHz Qualcomm CPU, 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and a screen "in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches", I'm not sure if I'll be picking up a PSPhone just yet, which is said to be released fall next year. For more details, visit the source article over at Kotaku.
October 26, 2000 marked the 10th anniversary of the North American release of the Sony Playstation 2 - arguably one of the best consoles of all time, and what I can say is that my unit is still standing tall and proud as a testament to what I have accomplished as a gamer. True, it was originally released in Japan 7 months prior, but the Playstation 2 experience didn't start for me well until the US got its launch and gave me a taste of all things gaming. There are plenty of titles I would like to mention, but I owe it to this system for giving me the pleasure of experiencing great games such as Devil May Cry 1-3, God Of War I & II, Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, the Grand Theft Auto series, and so much more. Be it action games, fighting games, RPGs, or whatever genre comes to mind, the PS2 served up a good round of entertainment for well over a decade, and even with its successor making trends, it's still a good system to consider for anyone looking for simple and casual entertainment. Heck, they even made some strange commercials... like this one.
By way of Kotaku, it appears that Sony and Konami will be releasing a new Playstation 3 Bundle Pack containing two of Konami's best titles for the system, namely Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and the recently released Castlevania: Lords of Shadow! The package will include the new 160gb PS3 slim model, and the two aforementioned games. Anyone who hasn't gotten the system yet may want to take advantage of this bundle, but the catch is that it'll only be available in Japan, priced at ¥37980 (US$471) and to be sold this December. Personally, I still prefer my MGS4 80gb bundle, which is the older model that can still play PS2 games, but this pack has more hard disk space, and comes with two games to start newbies off well if they haven't gotten a next gen system yet!
I don't get to watch a lot of South Park nowadays, but fortunately, the web, Screen Rant, and the show's official website have served up some hilarious new bits to serve up, and it involves parodying a certain movie by director Christopher Nolan - Inception! In the 205th episode of South Park called "Insheeption", the satirical comedy show takes a stab at last July's hit flick, and watch the chaos unravel in a dream within a dream! You can watch the full episode via the official South Park website here!

Marvel has announced on their official website that Tony Stark will return to don his high-tech wonder suit in "Iron Man 3" on May 3, 2013! The next sequel for ol' shellhead has been given a date, and it will take place right after "The Avengers" film hits on May 4, 2012 of the previous year. It's also been announced that Walt Disney Studios, Paramount Pictures, and Marvel Studios have reached an agreement, where Disney will be in charge of the worldwide marketing and distribution rights to "The Avengers" and "Iron Man 3" on those years, while Paramount will still be in charge of worldwide distribution of "Thor" and "Captain America: The First Avenger" next year, as well as retaining the already released "Iron Man" and "Iron Man 2" movies.
Here's a little shoutout to one of the earliest videogame systems I've ever had the privilege of experiencing through the course of my life. Picture up there is a snapshot of a second hand model I acquired a few weeks back. It's dusty and worn down, but it still functions and was luckily packed along with two controllers and a cartridge of Super Mario Bros. 3! Yes folks, Mario is not the only one celebrating his 25th anniversary, but so is the Nintendo Entertainment System, which was released in the US 25 years ago today! I talked about it a little while back in a previous post, but this is the real date to celebrate! Let's give the retro console a cheer and pat it in the back, as remember the good ol' times and funny moments we've all experienced back then as gamers!
As seen in a post in Slash Film, this snapshot taken by Chris Pizzello shows Murray accepting the award for "Best Horror Movie" in the 2010 Scream awards for the horror comedy flick "Zombieland", in which he has a small role in. That aside, dressing as Venkman again has got to be one of the most awesome things Bill has done for his fans. Is it a sign that he'll be appearing in the much awaited Ghostbusters III? Hehe, we'll just have to wait and see.
ComingSoon and Superherohype have have unveiled the latest poster for "The Green Hornet" by Columbia Pictures, showcasing Seth Rogen and Jay Chou in their respective roles of the Green Hornet and Kato, as they step out of their vehicle, the Black Beauty, ready to take on crime and evil wherever it may be! The movie, directed by Michel Gondry, will be released on January 14, 2011! For more details and the synopsis of the film, check out Superherohype!
DC's The Source and Newsarama have unveiled more covers of DC's January 2011 solicits, specifically titles concerning Batman and Brightest Day. As seen in the previous post, certain one-shots and titles on that month will feature logo-covers with the corresponding DC character bursting out to life, and up above you see the cover to Batman and Robin #19. Check out more of these dynamic covers via Newsarama!
Super Street Fighter IV is getting new releases in two different platforms. One is the franchise's original home, the arcades, and the game's going to get new tweaks and characters added to its roster in the form of Yun and Yang. The other platform is the Nintendo 3DS, the new portable gaming system Nintendo is gearing for release early next year. From the trailers and screenshots released, the port looks a lot faithful to its console counterpart, with its graphics understandably scaled down to compensate for the 3DS' requirements.
However, more pressing and slightly disappointing news appears via way of Kotaku. It appears that Capcom will be giving SSFIV 3DS access to 4 hotkey slots that players can assign moves and special moves to, allowing players to dish out punishment at the press of a button. While it may sound like good news that a simplified way has come to play Street Fighter, I'm not one of those favoring this mechanic being implemented. The game of Street Fighter has always been about challenging oneself and mastering moves and combos in order to improve one's skills. This eliminates any challenge from the equation, and practically makes the game "easy mode" on the go. Fine that beginners get this option to make it easier for them, but it won't teach them how the game is played properly. You play the game the only way it should be played - either with a controller or arcade stick, and the video below demonstrates how those tried and true rules apply to skilled veterans.
However, the real treat is catching some unique variant covers that follow the same logo cover treatment the one-shots are using, and up above is the variant "one-shot type cover" to Batman Inc. #3! Possibly my favorite among the bunch, it spotlights the new costume of Bruce Wayne as Batman, with the redesigned logo above and the art illustrated by David Finch! Pretty rad, but Bats is not the only one to get the logo cover treatment. Fellow JLA members Superman, Flash, and Green Lantern also have their own variant covers, so be sure to check 'em out at the post over at Newsarama, and comic shops this January!

On October 19, the cast and crew of Back To The Future, one of the most famous movie trilogies of all time, will reunite once more during this year's Scream Awards on Spike TV! That's right, you'll be seeing Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd back together since their last reunion in 1990! This year happens to be the 25th anniversary of the first Back To The Future, and so much buzz is going on for that classic! It'll be re-released in selected US theaters this end of October; a new 25th anniversary box set of the trilogy will be out on October 25th; and a new video game is in the works by Tell Tale Games, with Christopher Lloyd lending his voice talents to reprise his signature role of Doc Brown again!
Castlevania... That word alone evokes pleasant and frustrating memories from my videogame childhood that I dare not get into lest I provoke a lengthy nostalgic discussion. No, I come before you now to review the latest chapter in the saga that has redefined gaming time and again, and this time, the adventure sets itself up with ambitious goals via the power of next gen technology. That's right, the new game, Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow, is a new 3D adventure that departs from the traditional and establishes a new direction for the series. Does it falter, or does it manage to prove itself worthy of the mantle?

God Of War: Ghost Of Sparta unleashes its fury for the PSP this November 2.
Spider-Man and Evil Dead director Sam Raimi has a new directing job on his hands, and it's a prequel to the classic tale - The Wizard Of Oz! He is currently attached to direct "Oz: The Great and Powerful", a tale that takes place before Dorothy's visit and sees the man who would become "The Wizard" end up in Oz, hailed as a powerful being but in truth a con artist who gets mixed up in a Civil War between three girls who would end up becoming the three witches Dorothy interacts with in the following story. Raimi's directorial style would fit the concept indeed, and if rumors prove true that Robert Downey Jr. may star as the titular Wizard, then we got an interesting upcoming flick on our hands! For more info, check out the source article over at Screen Rant!
After making his mark in Batman: Hush and illustrating arguably one of the most memorable depictions of The Dark Knight, DC Co-Publisher and artist Jim Lee will once again pencil Batman in January's upcoming four issue mini-series, Batman: Europa. Lee, however, will only be drawing issue number one, so that leaves writer Brian Azzarello to team up with three other artists, namely Giuseppe Camuncoli, Diego Latorre, and Jock. The story involves Batman teaming up with his archnemesis, The Joker, as he seeks a cure for a virus that has infected him, forcing him to team up with the Clown Prince of Crime against all odds! For more information, check out the post in Newsarama!

Zombie season seems to be in full swing these days, especially with a lot of great stuff popping out of the woodwork that use the undead ghouls as plot material to bake into stories full of blood, carnage, and gore. Thanks to the influence of zombie lore godfathers like the great George A. Romero, you can expect popculture to utilize the "zombie apocalypse" scenario anywhere at any given time, and it could literally explode in your face just as fast as the ghoulish epidemic spreads with just a single bite.
Konami's whipping out a new and totally different Castlevania game for next gen systems this week, so it's only fitting that Gametrailers revisits the franchise's history and takes a look back at the game's humble beginnings. This is a fun retrospective to watch, so be sure to check on the GT website or back here for the next installments as they come!
This trailer of this film perked my interest, and it's only fair I share this excitement! Kinda reminds me of Lone Wolf and Cub meets Ninja Assassin, with a little wild wild west flavor added to it! South Korean actor Jang Dong-gun stars, with Kate Bostworth and Geoffrey Rush in for the ride as well! Check it out!
