R.I.P John Severin
Sad news has hit the comic book and magazine world, as legendary artist and inker John Severin passed away last February 12, leaving a lot of fans and fellow creators mourning over the loss of a legend. Profoundly known for his works in the 50's with EC Comics, working with Western Comics, DC Comics, and Marvel Comics, as well as Cracked and being one of the founders of MAD, Severin's signature artistic style was known to many, and he passionately drew a lot of memorable works and visuals that are still remembered by many to this day. His work on the Rawhide Kid, Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos, The Incredible Hulk, and The Punisher are among some of his notable accomplishments, and he also made an impression for 45 years as an artist for Cracked, with humurous results to boot that entertained readers the world over. Here are samples of his works over the years via Comic Book Resources, and kind words were expressed in his memory by Marvel.
Truly , another icon in the popculture world has left us, and his contributions to the industry will forever be remembered by creators and fans alike. R.I.P John Severin, and thank you.
