In the aftermath of
Phil Lord and
Chris Miller's departure from directing the untitled
"Han Solo" spin-off film for the
Star Wars movie franchise,
The Hollywood Reporter has reported that
Lucasfilm and
Disney have selected
"Apollo 13" and
"The Da Vinci Code" director
Ron Howard as the new man to helm the film that features
Alden Ehrenreich and
Donald Glover as a younger Solo and
Lando Calrissian, with
Woody Harrelson and
Emilia Clarke co-starring. After getting the part to direct the film, Howard
tweeted his astonishment at getting the job -
"I'm beyond grateful to add my voice to the Star Wars universe after being a fan since 5/25/77."
The Han Solo spin-off is set for release on May 25, 2018.
