Superman: New "Krypton" poster released; "Metropolis" digital TV series announced for 2019
2018 honors the 80th anniversary of a certain "Man of Steel", but he's going to be getting some love in the form of some new upcoming TV shows that take place way before he showed up as the hero everyone knows and loves today. One of them will premiere this year, while the other has been given a series order for DC's upcoming digital network for 2019.
Coming out this year will be "Krypton" - a show that takes place two generations before Kal-El was sent to Earth and follows the adventures of his grandfather Seg-El. Above is a new poster promoting the show, showing the familiar "House of El" crest and Seg standing right at the center of it. The series will premiere on March 21st on Sci-Fi.
Next up will be "Metropolis" - which follows the adventures of Lex Luthor and Lois Lane and explores the mysteries hidden in the City of Tomorrow before the arrival of Superman. The show has been given a 13-episode first season for the DC Digital Service coming in 2019. Read more about the story via Coming Soon.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: First teaser trailer released
Set to be released as the last of three Marvel Cinematic Universe movies hitting 2018, Marvel Studios and Disney have unleashed the very first teaser trailer for "Ant-Man and The Wasp" - the sequel to 2015's "Ant-Man" and a direct follow-up to 2016's "Captain America: Civil War". Paul Rudd once again puts on the size changing suit as Scott Lang/ Ant-Man, and Evangeline Lilly joins him as Hope Van Dyne/ The Wasp, while Michael Douglas returns as Hank Pym - the creator of the suits and "Pym Particles".
Ant-Man and The Wasp opens in theaters this July.

It's been more than a year already since we lost a beloved actress and talent, but now she is honored with a post-humous award for "Best Spoken Word Album" thanks to her audiobook "The Princess Diarist". The late great Carrie Fisher, aka Princess/ General Leia of the Star Wars movies, was awarded a golden gramaphone for her work - which you can see on the tweet below:

ICYMI: Scott Snyder takes over Justice League following "No Justice" weekly series this June
In case you missed the news from DC - Following the events of the DC Comics' crossover event "Dark Nights: Metal", Batman writer Scott Snyder will be dealing with the ramifications of that event with a weekly miniseries starting this May called "No Justice" - which will see members of the Justice League splintering into different factions and groups, with writers James Tynion IV and Josh Williamson joining him for writing duties and Francis Manapul for the artwok. Also following that, Snyder himself will take over the main team flagship title of "Justice League" beginning this June.

EVO Japan 2018: Watch the stream this weekend via Twitch!
This weekend marks a historic turn in the world of Fighting Games, as the Evolution Championship Series opens up a new tournament for fighters around the world to compete in at the land of the rising sun with "EVO Japan 2018"! The Walking Dead: Season 8 "The Last Stand" key art poster released
Set to return in a month's time and bringing the grim reality and consequences of "All Out War" to its threshold, AMC has released the key art poster (via Superherohype) to the second half of the eight season of "The Walking Dead", featuring Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), and Michonne (Danai Gurira) front and center and making their "Last Stand" as they're ready to do battle against anything coming their way - be it the living dead or the forces of their sworn enemy, Negan. It's been a very tense and emotional confrontation between the allied forces led by Rick, Maggie, and King Ezekiel as well as Negan's Saviors, and both sides have lost people - including loved ones who matter to the remaining survivors.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC on February 25th.

Pacific Rim: Uprising: Official Trailer 2 released
Set to hit theaters in the next few months and revisiting the "Giant Robot vs Giant Monster" world envisioned by director Guillermo del Toro, Universal Pictures and Legendary have released the brand new trailer for "Pacific Rim: Uprising" - which stars John Boyega as Jake Pentecost - the son of Idris Elba's character from the first film Stacker Pentecost.

God of War: New Story Trailer confirms April 2018 release date
At long last, one of the most anticipated Playstation exclusives has a release date to its name. After being announced in 2014 and being officially teased with a gameplay demo at E3 2016, Santa Monica Studio and Sony Interactive Entertainment have officially announced that "God of War" for the Playstation 4 will be released this April - bringing the eight chronological installment of the franchise to light and acting as a soft reboot that sees a new and very different, much older Kratos guiding his son Atreus on a personal journey that will test both father and child with new challenges that will define them and their relationship with one another.
God of War will be released exclusively for PS4 on April 20, 2018.

"Logan" nominated for "Best Adapted Screenplay" for 2018 Academy Awards
In what certainly is a WELL DESERVED nomination for what is arguably one of the best films of 2017 - 20th Century Fox and James Mangold's "Logan" has been nominated for "Best Adapted Screenplay" by The Academy for the 2018 Oscars - making it the first comic book movie in history to earn that distinction. That's quite the honor, and while it has big competition going for it against other films like "Get Out" and "The Shape of Water", this is an honor already for Hugh Jackman's final Wolverine film - which pays homage to the actor and his 17 year career as the feral X-Men character in the big screen.

Action Comics #1000 will feature the return of Superman's classic look and red trunks

Lined up as the next DC Universe Movie to come in home video and digital after this month's "Batman: Gotham By Gastlight", Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment have released the trailer and details (via Superherohype) to "Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay" - which features the return of Amanda Waller's Task Force X - consisting of Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, and others who are racing to find a mysterious mystical object with their lives on the line.

Justice League: Digital and Home Video details and release dates revealed
After three months since the film was released in theaters and left fans divided over the overall presentation of the movie, Warner Bros. and DC Films have officially revealed the details and release dates for the digital and home video releases of "Justice League" - the fifth entry in the "DC Extended Universe" and one that finally unites heroes like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman in the big screen for the first time in live-action.
Via IGN, the film will be released digitally on February 13. Those looking forward to the 4K, Blu-Ray, and DVD releases will get it a month afterwards on March 13. There will be no extended edition sadly (despite fan petitions for a Snyder cut), instead there will be the usual assortment of special features and a couple of deleted scenes that were not included in the theatrical release. Arrow: Season 6 Mid-Season Extended Trailer released
After the fallout of the midseason finale that saw his team divided and Cayden James uniting with a team of villains to take out Oliver Queen's crusade and Star City, The CW has released a new "Mid-Season Trailer" highlighting what to expect when "Arrow" returns this week - featuring Green Arrow and his two original allies in John Diggle and Felicity working by themselves and alienating Wild Dog, the new Black Canary, and Mister Terrific, while Cayden James, Black Siren, and the rest of their associates take advantage of the situation and wild cards like Vigilante move in and cause more trouble for Mayor Queen and the city he has sworn to protect.
Arrow's sixth season returns to The CW starting this Thursday, January 18.

Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition announced for March 2018
With the game over a year old and already selling over 7 million copies worldwide, Square Enix has gone to the next step and officially announced a rerelease for Final Fantasy XV featuring all of the expanded DLC content and then some. Titled "Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition" and as detailed by the official website of the game - the package will feature a new dungeon, first person mode, control of the Royal Vessel, and all season pass content previously offered for the game.
Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition will be released on March 6 for consoles and PC.

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition: V-Trigger II Showcase Special video released
Set to be released this coming Tuesday for Playstation 4 and PC, Capcom has released a pretty neat "V-Trigger II Showcase Special" featuring all of the new V-Trigger abilities for the fighters in "Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition". Arrow: Season 6 mid-season premiere episode "Divided" extended trailer
Set to return to The CW this coming week and picking right where things escalated to a delicate situation as far as the future of Oliver Queen's team is concerned, an extended trailer for the mid-season premiere episode of "Arrow" called "Divided" has been released - showing Oliver and his original teammates John Diggle and Felicity Smoak determined to take on Cayden James and Black Siren without the help of their new recruits who have been dismissed - not knowing that a coalition of villains headed by James is working to destroy everything the Green Arrow fights for.
Arrow returns to The CW on January 18, Thursday.

X-Men Movies: "Gambit" and "The New Mutants" get delayed to 2019; Deadpool 2 moves up to May 2018
For fans of Fox's X-Men line-up of movies, a major shake-up has been done to its roster of upcoming spin-off films in "Gambit", "The New Mutants", and "Deadpool 2". All three films have been given new release dates - with the first two now positioned for 2019 and the sequel to the 2016 hit superhero comedy "Deadpool" moving up a month from its original release date this year.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Gambit" lost its director in Gore Verbinski, pushing the Channing Tatum starring film from its original February 14, 2019 release date to June 7, 2019. "The New Mutants" - which already had a teaser trailer released and was primed for an early summer 2018 release - gets pushed back almost a year from April 13, 2018 to February 22, 2019 instead.
Finally getting the better end of this shake up, Deadpool 2 has been moved from its June 1, 2018 release date to May 18 - positioning it in between the release dates of "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Solo: A Star Wars Story". The Ryan Reynolds film will see his return as the "Merc with a Mouth", alongside Josh Brolin who debuts as fan favorite X-Force character Cable (and coincidentally plays Thanos in Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War).

Thor: Ragnarok: Digital and Home Video details released
After making an astonishing impact in theaters late last year, Marvel Studios has revealed details on the digital and home video release of "Thor: Ragnarok" - the third film in the "Thor" movie series and once again featuring Chris Hemsworth in the titular role as the God of Thunder. The film arrives digitally next month on February 20, while the 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray and DVD releases follow on March 6th.
While that's certainly a few weeks away, Marvel Studios promotes the upcoming release with a sneak peek clip of one of the sequel's most pivotal scenes - Gladiator Thor taking on Gladiator Hulk!

Godzilla Anime streams on Netflix starting January 17
After premiering in Japanese theaters in November of last year, Netflix has officially announced the date for the premiere of the "Godzilla" anime on the streaming service - which will be available in 190 countries on January 17. The film will be the first in a trilogy of animated films featuring the Big G - as humanity looks to retake Earth from the King of Monsters after being forced to evacuate the planets many years ago.

Black Lighting: First look photo of Thunder released
Set to be released in less than two weeks, The CW (as featured in Superherohype) has released a photo of actress Nafessa Williams all suited up as "Thunder" - the daughter of the superhero known as "Black Lightning"! She will appear in her father's titular series discovering she has similar powers to her dad, and chooses to fight alongside him in defending their family and community against crime and corruption.

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition: New features detailed for upcoming update
In less than two weeks from now, Capcom will be putting out a major update in their latest signature brawler game that is Street Fighter V by giving owners and newbies a brand new version with "Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition" - which drops in January 16. It is a free update for those who own Street Fighter V already, but it is also being offered as a new rereleased game package for those who have yet to get the latest installment in the long-running Street Fighter franchise.
Thanks to Capcom Unity, you can check out what the different features and modes are for the upcoming update, which includes a "Crossover Costume" challenge, Golden Shadaloo Soldiers that yield Fight Money, a Gallery Mode and new endings for the eagerly anticipated "Arcade Mode", and lots more.
