X-Men Movies: "Gambit" and "The New Mutants" get delayed to 2019; Deadpool 2 moves up to May 2018
For fans of Fox's X-Men line-up of movies, a major shake-up has been done to its roster of upcoming spin-off films in "Gambit", "The New Mutants", and "Deadpool 2". All three films have been given new release dates - with the first two now positioned for 2019 and the sequel to the 2016 hit superhero comedy "Deadpool" moving up a month from its original release date this year.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Gambit" lost its director in Gore Verbinski, pushing the Channing Tatum starring film from its original February 14, 2019 release date to June 7, 2019. "The New Mutants" - which already had a teaser trailer released and was primed for an early summer 2018 release - gets pushed back almost a year from April 13, 2018 to February 22, 2019 instead.
Finally getting the better end of this shake up, Deadpool 2 has been moved from its June 1, 2018 release date to May 18 - positioning it in between the release dates of "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Solo: A Star Wars Story". The Ryan Reynolds film will see his return as the "Merc with a Mouth", alongside Josh Brolin who debuts as fan favorite X-Force character Cable (and coincidentally plays Thanos in Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War).
