Spider-Man returns to the MCU thanks to new Sony/ Disney deal
In case you didn't hear the news - SPIDEY'S OFFICIALLY BACK IN THE MCU!
As reported by Deadline Hollywood, a new deal has been struck between Sony and Disney/ Marvel in once again bringing the wallcarawler to the same cinematic universe as the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy, where Disney would co-finance 25% of the production of a third Spidey film for a 25% equity stake. This allows Tom Holland to once again swing and continue his role as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man without any sacrifices or omissions to his story thread following the events of this year's "Spider-Man: Far From Home" - where Spidey's world literally turned upside down following his battle and victory over Mysterio. The deal also calls for Spidey to appear in another Marvel film, as well as retaining the creative presence of Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige.

Resident Evil 3/ Biohazard 3 was released this time 20 years ago
Around this time in Japan, one of the most intense entries in Capcom’s long running Resident Evul/ Biohazard franchise was released for the original Playstation, as “Biohazard 3: Last Escape” hit the platform and took the Survival Horror series to a whole new level. Originally conceived as a spin-off with a different character while the true follow up would have been the Dreamcast’s “Resident Evil: Code: Veronica”, what would be called “Resident Evil 3: Nemesis” in the US was turned into the next numbered sequel, with original Resident Evil heroine Jill Valentine returning as the main protagonist. This time, she would be facing a new relentless menace called “Nemesis” - a Tyrant type monster who would chase her throughout the game at any moment’s notice. The game would be released in North America on November that same year.
Set before and after the events of Resident Evil 2, RE3 was another popular entry in the franchise - and it has been ported to several platforms over the years. With the success of this year’s Resident Evil 2 Remake, fans are clamoring for a Remake to this game. Only time will tell if Capcom will indeed go through with that.
For now... HAPPY TWENTY YEARS, NEMESIS!

“The Transformers” turns 35 years today
Today is a very special day for the world of popular culture and the 80’s, as Hasbro’s “The Transformers” first started airing it’s popular animated TV series today, September 17th, way back in 1984! The show, made to coincide with Hasbro’s toyline of the same name - was a story about sentient an alien robot race known as “Transformers” that are split into warring factions - the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons. Living in the distant planet known as Cybertron, the Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, were forced to flee from their home planet to seek other ways of defeating the Decepticons and their tyrannical leader Megatron. After a battle sends both groups crash lamding on prehistoric Earth, the robots lay in stasis until waking up in the present day - adapting to their surroundings by copying the forms of existing vehicles and machinery and becoming “Robots in Disguise”. As such, the war between both continues on Earth - with humanity involved and caught in the crossfires of the battle.
Since then, The Transformers has grown into a mega world franchise known to many people around the world. From the toys to the cartoons, the series has spawned multiple spin-offs, an animated movie following the events of the series, and even a series of live-action movies directed by Michael Bay. Truly they are more than meets the eye, and 35 years later they are legend. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY G1/ Generation 1!

"9/9/99" The Sega Dreamcast Twenty Years Later
A beloved platform from the sixth generation of video game consoles is officially remembered this day, as the North American release of the "Sega Dreamcast" officially happened twenty years ago. This unique gaming system was fondly remembered for being the first 128-bit console out in the market before the release of the Playstation 2, Gamecube, and Xbox, and had stellar titles in its library such as Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi, Skies of Arcadia, Marvel Vs Capcom 2, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, and of course the first two Shenmue games by legendary developer Yu Suzuki.
The legacy of the Dreamcast still remains among gamers who were very dedicated to its selection of games and the ambitions the system had which helped pave the way for many conventions enjoyed in today's gaming world. Despite having a huge controller - it was sufficient and also featured a VMU or Visual Memory Unit that could act as a separate device you could play minigames with besides storing memory and acting as a visual aid to a specific game. At the time of its US launch which was months before the PS2, it enjoyed a good run and success in the market - before ultimately losing to its competition and eventually being discontinued in March of 2001.
Here's a pretty awesome retrospective on the Dreamcast by Modern Vintage Gamer - just in time for the anniversary celebration.
Happy 20 years, Sega Dreamcast!

Batman: Arkham Knight is FREE on Playstation Plus this month
It's a great year to be a Batman fan. Not only is the Caped Crusader celebrating his 80th Anniversary, but there's PLENTY of other occasions to be happy and be proud about if you're a long time follower of Bruce Wayne and his war against crime and the forces of darkness.
Last month marked the 10th Anniversary of "Batman: Arkham Asylum" - Warner Bros. Games and Rocksteady Studios' first foray into the Dark Knight and his world with an adventure seeing our hero trapped with his worst adversaries inside the institution dedicated to the criminally insane. It was a near open-world third person adventure that allowed players to play as Bats - with access to his tech and fighting prowess while navigating him to cull the uprising inside Arkham Asylum and stop his eternal archnemesis The Joker once and for all.
To say that and its sequel "Batman: Arkham City" are masterpieces are nothing short of classics is one thing. The latter game upped the ante with making a section of Gotham the titular replacement facility, and opening Batman up to a bigger world of exploration and adventure that only saw fans hungry for more... Which they got with "Batman: Arkham Knight".
Released over four years ago, "Batman: Arkham Knight" pushes the stakes even higher for Gotham City by plunging it into a "No Man's Land" scenario and forcing Batman to "even the odds" with a new souped up Batsuit, more tech, and a brand new Batmobile that is introduced as a new gameplay element for the sequel. If you haven't played this game and are just new to Playstation 4 - this is the perfect time to dive in and experience how to "Be The Batman".
Batman: Arkham Knight is Playstation's "FREE PS Plus Game" for September 2019 along with "Darksiders III". For more details, visit the official Playstation Blog.

"Joker" premieres to raves and wows in Venice Film Festival; Gets 8 Minute Standing Ovation
One of the most promising and anticipated films of 2019 finally premiered in this year's Venice Film Festival, and it quite literally put a smile on everyone's faces.
In short, Todd Phillips' "Joker", an original interpretation of the Batman villain's origin story, is being hailed as a "masterpiece" - with everyone calling it "Oscar" and praising the performance of its main star Joaquin Phoenix - who brings to life the pathetic and unsuccessful comedian Arthur Fleck and transforms him into the future Clown Prince of Crime that Gotham City will come to know and fear soon enough.
Deadline Hollywood even had a report on the success of the film's premiere at the Venice Film Festival, with the attendees giving the movie an "8 minute standing ovation". That says a lot, and October really can't come soon enough for the world to get its taste on this new direction Warner Bros. is taking its comic book movie properties.
