DC brings back “Tales From the Dark Multiverse” w/ “Flashpoint” and “Batman: Hush”

Set to return a year after exploring parallel worlds in the “Dark Multiverse” in which well known storylines and characters branched out to darker paths, DC Comics (via a report by Newsarama) has announced that the popular “Tales From the Dark Multiverse” series will be returning this November - with two newly announced one shots that tackle two well known sagas - “Flashpoint” and “Batman: Hush” - With covers drawn by artist David Marquez.

In “Tales From the Dark Multiverse - Flashpoint” - imagine if The Flash never corrected the events of the alternate timeline, and the Reverse Flash was left to do his dirty work? What would happen to Thomas Wayne - the Batman of this reality - and the war between the Atlanteans and Amazons raging the world? That question will be answered by Bryan Hitch - who serves as writer and artist for the story.

In “Tales From the Dark Multiverse - Batman: Hush” - we are shown a world where Thomas Elliot ruined Bruce Wayne’s life as a child - leading to a series of events that brings out a dark and twisted Dark Knight called “Batman: The Silenced”. The story will be written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and drawn by artist Dexter Soy.

Tales From the Dark Multiverse returns this November, with Batman: Hush on sale November 3 and Flashpoint on November 17.

Jim Lee posts his completed “Catwoman 80th Anniversary” 100-Page Super Spectacular #1 cover

To say this is “Purrrffect” is an understatement, but Jim Lee took to his social media pages like Facebook and posted his 2000’s variant cover for the upcoming “Catwoman 80th Anniversary” 100-Page Super Special #1!

As you can tell from the title, the one-shot issue celebrates the 80th Anniversary and legacy of Catwoman - better known as Selina Kyle and the on-and-off love interest/ frenemy of The Dark Knight himself, Batman. In Jim Lee’s variant piece - it’s a tribute to the groundbreaking early 2000’s Batman storyline “Hush”, which saw Bruce Wayne/ Batman getting serious with Selina/ Catwoman in the midst of a case that saw the titular antagonist introduced for the first time and pitting the Caped Crusader against his greatest enemies. Batman also revealed his identity to Catwoman for the very first time in official Post-Crisis continuity.

The 80th Anniversary Catwoman special will arrive in comic book stores on April 15th.

ICYMI: Batman: Hush getting DC Universe Original Movie animated film in 2019

One of the most iconic Batman storylines will FINALLY get the long awaited animated "DC Universe Original Movie" it deserves, as DC Entertainment formally announced in their San Diego Comic-Con panel that "Batman: Hush" - the 12 part Batman storyline written by Jeph Loeb and drawn by Jim Lee that ran from "Batman #608 to Batman #619" and was formally collected into trades and hardcovers released by DC Comics through the years. In the story, Batman faces a new and mysterious opponent, the titular "Hush", who manipulates the Dark Knight into a series of confrontations with some of his deadliest adversaries. While that is happening, he and Catwoman share a romantic spark and get closer than ever.

The animated movie is part of other upcoming DC animated films that include "Wonder Woman: Bloodlines", "The Reign of the Supermen", and "Justice League vs The Fatal Five". All of these are expected to be released in 2019 - which also happens to be the same year Batman celebrates his 80th anniversary. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

Batman 75: DC Universe Online "Building The Bat" feature explores Jim Lee's Batman

Batman Day Week ushers on, and DC Entertainment is not pulling any stops in letting fans and readers of the Caped Crusader know his big day arrives on Wednesday, July 23. That being said, Jim Lee and the people behind the publisher's popular MMORPG DC Universe Online have released this stellar video tackling the essence of The Dark Knight and his presence in the game, which is just perfect and in time for his 75th Anniversary.

75 Years of Batman: Building the Bat in DC Universe Online

What's pretty neat about the video is that not only does it recap the importance of Batman, but his design inspirations and look used in the game, which is drawn straight from Jim Lee's highly successful designs and pencil work in the 2002 "Batman: Hush" storyline. A classic take on the character is emphasized, not to mention it being recognizable and a standard for many that remains iconic to this day.
