Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion Releases Cover Art and New Trailer

15 years ago this day, Square Enix brought Final Fantasy VII fans back to the world they know and love and gave us a game that told the story of a hero who truly embraced his dreams and fought to become a hero. That game was Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII for the PlayStation Portable - and it focused on the character of Zack Fair - the man whom Cloud Strife based part of his personality over and who was his mentor and friend.

Fast forward to today, and Square Enix is remastering and releasing that prequel to FF VII again for multiple systems and platforms as “Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion” in honor of the series 25th anniversary. As a result, the official cover art for the upcoming game has been revealed - along with a new trailer too to hype up the release in a couple of months!

Crisis Core: Reunion will be released for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on December 13!

Final Fantasy VII Celebrates the 25th Anniversary of its Western Release

In September 7, 1997, the company then known as Square released the long awaited English translated version of “Final Fantasy VII” in North America - bringing one of the most anticipated Japanese role-playing games to western audiences. Packed in three discs and showcasing the first 3D polygon graphic made Final Fantasy installment for the Sony PlayStation, the game became a critical and financial success - and its legacy is still felt 25 years later as this particular FF became its own universe and multimedia franchise!

The popularity and importance of FFVII cannot be understated - it’s a global phenomenon, and the characters in the story have become household names with Cloud Strife, Tifa Lockhart, Aerith Gainsborough, Sephiroth, and the other iconic figures as memorable as any other video game character out there. With the second chapter of the remake saga coming in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and a remaster of the prequel with Zack Fair in Crisis Core Reunion due at the end of the year, FFVII fans are going to be enjoying more of the saga and its legacy for many years to come.

Happy 25th, Final Fantasy VII!

Final Fantasy VII Was Released This Day 24 Years Ago

Today 24 years ago, SquareSoft (now Square Enix) released one of the most beloved, memorable, and influential Japanese RPG's ever to grace this planet in "Final Fantasy VII".

Released for the original Sony PlayStation in January 31, 1997, the game put players in control of a young broody SOLDIER named Cloud Strife, who travels with a group of friends and unlikely companions as they try to save the planet from a mega-corporation that is draining its resources. The events of the game also put the party in conflict with a mysterious man named Sephiroth - whose ties to Cloud and his own agenda lead to the endgame that will decide the fate of their planet.

FFVII would become a phenomenon, selling 12.8 Million units during its peak and would be instrumental in building its own unique fanbase and universe - which would compose of various spin-offs and multimedia such as the sequel film Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, the PSP prequel Crisis Core, and last year's long awaited Final Fantasy VII Remake. To say it is not short of an Epic Saga that remains timeless to this day is an understatment.

Happy 24th Anniversary, Final Fantasy VII!
