Star Wars: New Film Trilogy by Rian Johnson & Live-Action TV Series announced by Disney

Some Breaking News has arrived for Star Wars fans - and they need to "Breath" like Luke Skywalker said to Rey in the opening moments of the first trailer for "The Last Jedi". Episode VIII hasn't even his theaters yet (that's next month), and now Disney has made a bombshell of an announcement to press and media - we are getting a BRAND NEW STAR WARS TRILOGY after the conclusion of the current arc involving the aforementioned characters, the Resistance, Kylo Ren, and the First Order.

According to the official Star Wars website, Johnson has signed on to helm a brand new trilogy of films - the first of which he will direct and write alongside longtime collaborator Ram Bergman. The exciting news comes over a month before Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters - which Johnson directed and continues the story after 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Coinciding with the new trilogy announcement, Disney also announced (via a report by Comic Book.com) that a new Star Wars Live-Action TV Series is also coming with their soon to launch streaming service - which will contain programs based on their properties from Monsters Inc. and Marvel. No other details have been announced yet, but the streaming service is expected to debut on 2019.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theaters in the Philippines on December 15.

Mark Millar named "Creative Consultant" for 20th Century Fox Marvel Movies

Breaking News just hit the comic book movie world, as The Ultimates and Kick-Ass scribe Mark Millar was just named "Creative Consultant" by 20th Century Fox for their Marvel Comics movie adaptations! With the studio having recently given up their hold on Daredevil, they still retain the rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises, with new films on the way like The Wolverine, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and a Fantastic Four Reboot! It should be interesting to see how the famous Scottish comic book writer gives his input on those since he had a hand in writing the Earth-616 and Ultimate versions of both teams!

Here's the press release after the jump by 20th Century Fox, and thanks goes to Superherohype for breaking the news!

Christopher Nolan releases statement on TDKR Theater Shooting

Following the news of the tragic shooting incident at Colorado during a TDKR midnight screening, The Dark Knight Rises director himself, Christopher Nolan, released a statement:

"Speaking on behalf of the cast and crew of “The Dark Knight Rises”, I would like to express our profound sorrow at the senseless tragedy that has befallen the entire Aurora community. I would not presume to know anything about the victims of the shooting but that they were there last night to watch a movie. I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime. The movie theatre is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me. Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families."

Thanks goes to Batman-News and Comic Book Resources for the scoop on this.

A moment of silence for Japan this day...

I wasn't in the mood to write anything after learning of the devastating quake and tsunami that hit Japan earlier, and all I can do at this moment is offer my prayers and best wishes for the victims affected by this tragedy. The story continues to break out all over the news channels such as Yahoo and CNN as of this posting. If there was any time to be aware and concerned for others, now is the moment to do so. All we can do now is hope for the best...

News Flash! Disney Acquires Marvel Entertainment!

Here's the announcement... BRACE YOURSELVES...

Yes, you heard right... DISNEY ACQUIRES MARVEL... and the source of this announcement can be read from the good folks at Comic Book Resources and Newsarama.

The news is as shocking to me as it was to a friend of mine who shared this BREAKING NEWS. Now that Walt Disney's company has acquired the rights to "Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends", will we see them holding hands and singing kumbaya together in a boy scout bonfire? Most likely, the answer may be yes. Disney has a reputation to keep of being a family friendly entertainment conglomerate, and now that Mavel's under them, expect waves of censorship to ensue. Personally, I think this move was done in order to compete with Warner Bros., who own the rights to Looney Tunes and DC Comics. The same company that owns Bugs Bunny and friends are also responsible for the creation of the widely successful DC Animated Universe, which has created top and entertaining superhero shows such as Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League.

For $4 Billion Dollars, this is a sweet deal for Disney. They'll be the ones leading the charge for the next wave of Marvel goodness coming in the next few years, including much anticipated Marvel flicks such as Iron Man 2, Thor, The First Avenger: Captain America, and The Avengers! Since they also have a stack full of policies to enforce on their media, including "No Smoking" on any of their films, looks like Marvel's going to be doing a lot of censoring for their material... including the comics. Gosh, I hope that isn't the case... DC's got no problem with censorship (see The Dark Knight), but Disney does... I'm not too excited about the news at all.>_<
