Non-Spoiler Review: The Walking Dead: S05E01 - "No Sanctuary"

After months of anticipation and dreading the worst, Rick Grimes and his band of survivors return for a brand new season of facing the dangers set about by a zombie apocalypse in AMC's popular zombie drama TV Series, The Walking Dead.

Airing just this Sunday, October 12th and Monday, October 13th internationally, The 5th season begins with the premiere episode "No Sanctuary", which picks up right where the Season 4 Finale episode "A" left off with Rick and his gang still inside their container prison in Terminus and preparing to fend off their captors should they decide to open the door. Unfortunately they are taken by force, and finally see the horrors of what this "Sanctuary For All" truly has. Meanwhile, Carol, Tyreese, and Judith almost reach the site of Terminus, not knowing the dangers ahead that their friends are already facing ahead. Fortunately this coincidence and the random circumstances involving walkers intervene, giving Rick and his crew the chance they've been looking for to make their escape.

Unlike the previous season's opener, Season 5 gets the job done in a BIG WAY by giving audiences a very generous serving of action, zombies, and lots of intense moments that carefully bring things to a satisfying conclusion come the end of the episode. It's literally one of the best episodes of The Walking Dead TV Series by far, and written by none other than the current showrunner himself, Scott Gimple. No Sanctuary achieves what many past episodes in the latter half of Season 4 had in increments -  good pacing and execution. You'll literally love seeing more of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) pull so much of that "Stuff and Thangs" intensity he showed in "A", and Carol (Melissa McBride) showing just how much of a badass she is. Also, Terminus is just as one would have suspected it to be if they paid attention to clues in the Season 4 finale. There's more to things though, told in small doses of a flashback segment shown in the beginning and ending of the episode, which may continue on for the rest of the season.

Overall, this is a GREAT START to TWD Season 5, and the after credits scene is just a doozy to see for longtime fans like me.

The Walking Dead Season 5 airs on AMC every Sunday, and on Fox Philippines every Monday.

The Walking Dead: Season 5 Banner Poster released

San Diego Comic-Con week is here, and there's plenty of things to be excited about in the world of popculture and hobbies. Of course, one of those things that people are anticipating and expecting is news and the first trailer for the upcoming fifth season of AMC's major hit zombie drama TV Series "The Walking Dead", which fans of the show are itching to get a taste of like the walkers that feature prominently in the show itself.

And along with this week's hype comes a newly revealed banner poster, featuring most of the primary and surviving cast of characters of the series thus far. After the end of Season 4, Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, Carl Grimes, Michonne, and the others were taken prisoner by the mysterious group of people residing in "Terminus" - a so-called sanctuary that is more than what it seems. With the ever present threat of walkers still around and people who are more dangerous when they are desperate to survive, Rick's group will have to find a way out of their predicament and see if they can pick up the pieces after everything they've been through.

For more information on the poster, visit the source post at the official TWD Facebook page.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC and affiliated networks with Season 5 this October.

The Walking Dead: Season 4 wraps up; "Survive" Poster released

If you've caught the Season 4 finale of AMC's "The Walking Dead" last Sunday, then you very well know that things are far from over for Rick Grimes and the other survivors, and the long wait to Season 5 has officially begun. To commemorate that countdown and tease things further to come, the official Walking Dead Facebook page has released a brand new poster, featuring Rick in a solemn contemplative moment and the word "Survive" sketched right in the middle of the one sheet.

The final and 16th episode of Season 4, entitled "A", was pretty much a Game Changer as well for the former Sheriff's Deputy, and if you've seen it then you know that Rick is not somebody to be trifled with... Whether it be Zombies or Enemies, PERIOD. Now that things have more or less scaled up with the Terminus plot, it'll be quite the anticipation and wait for the next season.

The Walking Dead returns with Season 5 this coming October.
