The Crisis Of DC Comic Book Movies: Legendary Writers Save The Day!
Slash Film broke this excellent piece of news:
The Hollywood Reporter has an article up concerning the future of DC Comics movies. It seems that plans have been in motion since last fall to give upcoming films a boost in the developmental process, and Warner Bros. has done just that by hiring three legendary faces from DC's plethora of writers - Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, and Marv Wolfman! For more info about this fantastic announcement, click the slash film link here!
Geoff Johns... Grant Morrison... and Marv Wolfman... Do you guys know what this means?! All three writers of the three major "Crisis" stories are on board for the film projects as consultants and, duh, writers! This move bodes well for upcoming DC Films, as these guys are the brains behind some of the most amazing (and sometimes controversial) stories of the entire DCU landscape. Geoff Johns cemented his legacy on Green Lantern and wrote Infinite Crisis; Grant Morrison took out Bruce Wayne and penned the somewhat controversial Final Crisis; and finally, the legendary Marv Wolfman wrote some of the best DC tales ever, including the seminal Crisis Of infinite Earths - the saga that started it all. With writers like these at WB's side, how could anything go wrong? It's a blessed miracle they're involved!
I had a feeling Johns and Morrison were going to dip their fingers and play an active role in making DC movies, but Marv Wolfman? Wow, things will truly be awesome from here on out. Johns, who's already writing Barry Allen's return in Flash:Rebirth, is already co-producing and writing the script for the Flash movie, and that's really an ace move to us fans. I just hope this talk of Leonardo Dicaprio producing "Aquaman" will not spell doom for the "King Of The Seven Seas". Still, as a DC Fan, I'm really excited now! Looking forward to movie treatments of Green Lantern, The Flash, Justice League, and of course, another Chris Nolan Batman flick!
