Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures team-up for future Spider-Man films!
Heads up, webheads! Looks like Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are FINALLY going to team-up for future films depicting the wallcrawler in film... And finally get our friendly neighborhood hero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe proper along with the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, and the rest of The Avengers!
In a press release announced by Marvel themselves and published in their official website, the new deal will see Spider-Man appearing in one of the films for the Marvel Cinematic Universe that's under the leadership of Kevin Feige, before spinning off into his own solo, Sony-produced film that's slated to be released on July 28, 2017, that will be co-produced by Feige and longtime Spider-Man film producer Amy Pascal. This sets a new course and direction for Spidey, whose presence in the Marvel Universe is strong in the comics... And will now be the same for the Marvel Cinematic Universe proper!
As to whether that means rebooting the entire franchise anew and if Andrew Garfield will reprise his role as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man... That remains to be see for the future. As for the films... Can anyone say inserting Pete into the upcoming Captain America: Civil War?
UPDATE: Sadly guys, Andrew Garfield is OUT as Spider-Man according to Comic Book Resources and following a report from The Wrap.
