UPDATE: The report has been clarified by director Matt Reeves himself - "The Batman" is still part of the DCEU.
Looks like a new change may be hitting the course of the upcoming standalone Batman film that will be directed by "War for the Planet of the Apes" Matt Reeves, as the director of the tentatively titled "The Batman" has said during a podcast interview with The Business that the movie "will NOT be connected to the DC Extended Universe" as a report by Comic Book.com tells.
"When they approached me, what they said was, 'Look, it’s a standalone. This isn’t part of the Extended Universe,'
If that line by Reeves is to be believed, this contradicts all the work and reports that have led up to what the new standalone Batman movie will be. Ben Affleck is still attached to star as the Caped Crusader in this solo film after his appearance later this year on "Justice League", so how it comes together now is anybody's guess. If the news on the new Joker Origin Story movie that will be helmed by Todd Phillips and produced by Martin Scorsese and is not part of the DCEU is any indication, it wouldn't be farfetched to imagine Warner Bros. may be taking a similar direction for "The Batman" and bringing it to another banner of DC Films.
The Batman has no release date yet.
