DC Comics The New 52 prepares for "Throne of Atlantis"

With a creative team shift beginning with Justice League #15 under the watchful guard of Ivan Reis and Joe Prado, DC Comics is dropping another bombshell by making a Leaguer the primary focus of another event happening next year that leads to 2013's big "Trinity War" event for the DC Comics The New 52 era.

Confirmed by DC Comics and reported by USA Today, a new upcoming crossover called "Throne of Atlantis" will occur on Justice League #15, coinciding with seeds planted that'll lead to Trinity War beginning with Justice League #13. Atlanteans wage war against the surface world, and it will mount tensions that will spark a rivalry between the King of the Seven Seas and his fellow leaguer Batman. Check out more on the story by visiting the source post at DC Comics.com, USA Today, and Newsarama.

First Look: The cover to Avengers vs X-Men #1!

Via Marvel and Comic Book Movie, here's a first look at artist Jim Cheung's cover to Avengers vs X-Men #1! The next big event from the House of Ideas, written by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by John Romita Jr., pits Earth's Mightiest Heroes against the Children of the Atom, and after everything is said and done, nothing will ever be the same again! The cover certainly evokes epicness, and it looks just like a Marvel Vs Capcom poster! For more information, visit the source posts at Marvel.com and CBM!

Marvel and DC Team Up for a new 2012 Spider-Man/ Batman crossover miniseries!

UPDATE: The story is a big rasberry PWNAGE attack (aka HOAX). Bleeding Cool confirms such too. Two of the best heroes in the comic book world are going to meet each other face-to-face once more!

Via a scoop at Bleeding Cool and reported by Comic Book Movie, DC Comics and Marvel are going to team up to produce a new 12 issue comic book series that sees The Dark Knight cross paths with your friendly neighborhood Webslinger! Entitled "Spider-Man/Batman", the series will depict the crimefighters interacting with each other through the years, starting with their very first meeting on the 48 page debut issue coming out in April, and eventually spreading out to other adventures through the course of their respective careers. Of course, this isn't the first time the heroes have interacted with one another, as Marvel and DC have made both heroes star in team up books and crossover stories in the 90's (as pictured above). Also, since The Dark Knight Rises and The Amazing Spider-Man are coming out in theaters this year, it's the perfect time for Bruce Wayne and Peter Parker to fight together to blend in with the hype! For more info on what is arguably comicdom's ultimate Dynamic Duo 2012 pairing series, visit the source posts at Bleeding Cool and Comic Book Movie!

Be sure to catch the 12 issue Spider-Man/ Batman crossover series on comic book stores and newsstands starting this April!

Comics and Games Collide!

Two of THE BEST in stealth and combat side by side. This image practically made my day!

As seen in a link in Kotaku, The Examiner has posted up four images of comic book heroes and video game characters together, as illustrated by artist David Stonecipher. They're nicely done pieces, and my favorite happens to be the one you see above - Solid Snake and Batman prowling the night and looking to beat trouble senseless. Comic vs Video Game personalities isn't exactly a new trend, and it's making a comeback with the return of the Marvel Vs Capcom series next year, but it's fun to imagine who else can tussle and team up together from those two different worlds. You can check out more mix ups at this link, or just enjoy imagining who wins the Hulk Vs Donkey Kong battle here:
