ICYMI: DC Comics severs ties with Diamond Comic Distributors


In a move that has taken the comic book retail world by storm, DC Comics has decided to cut ties with worldwide comics distributor Diamond Comic Distributors - marking the end of over two decades of partnership and the loss of the second biggest distributor in the North American market. The news was delivered by The Hollywood Reporter - and DC has decided to pair with Lunar Distribution and UCS Comic Distributors for periodical releases, while Penguin Publishing House handles their collected editions and graphic novels.

“After 25 years, DC and Diamond Comic Distributors are ending their long-standing relationship. Moving forward, comic book retailers can obtain their DC books from Penguin Random House, or their books and periodicals through Lunar or UCS comic book distributors. DC continues to be committed to providing the Direct Market with best in class service and the fans with the world’s greatest comic books.” Said a spokesperson from DC.

ICYMI: Free Comic Book Day no longer a month long celebration and has been postponed to later this year due to corona virus

With the world facing more important problems thanks to the corona virus, the annual comic book event that is "Free Comic Book Day" has been postponed to some time later this year. Announced by Diamond Comics Distributors chairman and founder Steve Geppi as well as reported by Newsarama, the initial move for the event was made to be celebrated for the whole month of May, before being reconsidered and moved "to a date later in the summer".
