Those who grew up in the 80's will know about Harmony Gold's popular mecha science-fiction series "Robotech", and the legacy it carved out for a generation of fans and viewers. Combining three very different anime shows and weaving together a continuity that is fondly remembered, the show expanded beyond borders and went on to broach other mediums, which include books, role-playing games, and even video games where much of the focus was on the popular first generation, otherwise known as the "Macross Saga".
Now, the people behind the show and a new generation of talents are pooling their efforts together to see a new chapter in the series unfold, as originally conceived by the creator of the show, the late Carl Macek. Through Kickstarter, the team is seeking to get a new Robotech series running called "Robotech Academy", and it's set near the end of the second generation and around the time of The Sentinels era.
With Tommy Yune doing new mecha designs and featuring a tale exploring new characters, this may be the best thing Robotech fans could ask for, and will only see the light of day with a successful Kickstarter campaign!
