SDCC '14: Maisie Williams might play Ellie in "The Last of Us" film adaptation

Fans of HBO's epic medieval fantasy show "Game of Thrones" and Naughty Dog's Survival Horror game "The Last of Us" are going to raise arms for this casting rumor to come true, and it hails straight from Comic-Con weekend news to boot

According to a report by Cinema Blend, Evil Dead and Spider-Man films director Sam Raimi was at SDCC to give an update on the film adaptation to TLOU, in which he confirmed that he and writer Neil Druckmann were having conversations with English actress Maisie Williams to play a part in the film. While the role hasn't been confirmed, her age and look is perfect for the character Ellie, who is one of the main characters of the game is herself as rebellious as Maisie's GOT character, Arya Stark.

The resemblance is also not far-fetched either, as Ellie plays a crucial role in The Last of Us, traveling cross-country with her older companion and guardian Joel in a post-apocalyptic setting. Throughout Season 3 and 4, Arya Stark has been doing her share of travels as well with The Hound Sandor Clegane, so hearing this bit of news is pretty amusing as it is coincidental.

That wouldn't fall far from the tree either, as Williams' castmates Kit Harrington and Sean Bean, who play her character Arya's half-brother Jon Snow and father Ned Stark respectively, both starred in a survival horror game film adaptation themselves with the 2012 film Silent Hill Revelation.

No release date has been given for The Last of Us film yet, but a remastered edition coming out for the PS4 is due on July 29!

UPDATE: Sony released this teaser poster, as seen in Kotaku.
