ICYMI: Han Solo spin-off directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller leave due to creative differences

Looks like a certain spin-off film starring a famous "scruffy nerf herder" and smuggler from the Star Wars universe is going to need a new director handling his early adventure story, as Phil Lord and Chris Miller have stepped away from directing the Han Solo spin-off according to THR, parting ways with Lucasfilm and leaving the project without a helmer.

In a statement released by "The Lego Movie" directors, they expressed why they had to leave due to creative differences.

“Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew."

Also responding to the departure, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy released her own statement:

"Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon.”

The Han Solo spin-off is slated for release on May 25, 2018.
