First trailer for Doom: Annihilation released

It's been nearly 15 years since Dwayne The Rock Johnson and Karl Urban took on bepic first person shooter game "Doom" when it got a film adaptation to its name, however it was hardly anything related to the source material - barely finding its footing and including demons and a "first person montage" scenario akin to the games themselves. Now it appears Universal is taking a stab again at the franchise - by releasing an unrelated direct-to-video film called "Doom: Annihilation" later this year.

Fast 8: First film image released by Vin Diesel

Making sure that the world knows that there are "New Roads Ahead" in the franchise, Vin Diesel took to Instagram and released the first image (via Comic Book.com) for the new Fast & Furious franchise sequel "Fast 8", which is now confirmed to take place partially in New York City. The film will be a "fresh take" according to Diesel and the crew, and will be directed by "Straight Outta Compton" director F. Gary Gray.

Fast 8 will be released on April 14, 2017.

Remembering Paul Walker...

Unfortunate news has hit for fans of the Fast & Furious franchise, as lead protagonist and Brian O'Conner actor Paul Walker has tragically passed away according to reports from TMZ and various news sites, including his personal Facebook fanpage.

It's really sad news to bear, especially since Walker was in the midst of a charity event for his organization "Reach Out Worldwide" when he died, which was aimed at providing relief efforts for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines.

The Fast & Furious franchise will certainly be different without O'Conner around, and filming for the next film, Fast & Furious 7, is in post-production, which will be his final appearance in the franchise. It's unknown how this affects the film's development, but that's beside the point, as a star in Hollywood has passed on. We can only hope he's in a better place now.

First Banner of Snow White and the Huntsman hits the web

Via Slash Film and Bleeding Cool, the first poster in the form of a banner for Universal's "Snow White and the Huntsman" has been released, featuring its stars Kristen Stewart (Twilight), Charlize Theron, and Chris "Thor" Hemsworth on the spotlight and assuming their roles as Snow White, The Evil Queen, and The Huntsman respectively. Directed by Joe Roth, this is of course a new, darker, and more adventurous take on the classic fairy tale, where the evil queen tries to dispose of Ms. White, who is the only other lady fairer than her in the land. Unbeknownst to the queen, Snow White has been training with a Huntsman dispatched to kill her, so that gives the young lady a fighting chance against her would-be killer. Also joining the cast is Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides star Sam Claflin, who plays Prince Charming, and a trailer for the movie is expected within the week, so stay tuned for more updates as they arrive.
