EVO 2024: Heihachi Mishima Returns From the Dead for Tekken 8!

Maintaining the lie that he was “certainly dead” since the end of Tekken 7, Katsuhiro Harada and Bandai Namco just revealed at EVO 2024 that Heihachi Mishima is back… And is the third DLC fighter for the Season 1 pass of Tekken 8!

Yup! You can’t keep an old man and the OG Iron Fist himself down! Heihachi for Tekken 8 arrives this Autumn! 

Tekken 7: Fated Retribution announced; Street Fighter's Akuma joins the roster

Following the conclusion of The King of Iron Fist Global Tekken 7 Tournament, Bandai Namco Games and Katsuhiro Harada (via Shoryuken) unveiled to the world a brand new trailer showcasing the next update to the newest installment in the Tekken franchise with "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution". Featuring a story sequence that fleshed out more of Kazumi Mishima's request to have her husband Heihachi stopped should something happen to her, the audience finally found out who she was talking to... And it was none other than Capcom's "Raging Demon"and Ansatsuken master, Akuma/ Gouki from Street Fighter!

After debuting in the tournament, Bandai Namco Games officially released the trailer online.

Tekken 7: Fated Retribution
While an update to Tekken 7 was all but certain, NOBODY could have predicted Akuma's arrival to the scene and be integrated into the story of the series no less! This comes a few years after Capcom's Street Fighter x Tekken, so this could be finally the first step in seeing a Tekken x Street Fighter treatment soon!

Tekken 7: New opening cinematic intro sees Kazuya Vs Heihachi

Coming to arcades next week in Japan as an early release of the game itself, Bandai Namco Games has released the opening cinematic to their next installment in the long-running Tekken fighting game series, with Kazuya Mishima facing off against his own father Heihachi Mishima for the intro to Tekken 7!

It's all going down soon and hopefully brings a reasonable conclusion to the Mishima saga. The question now is... Where is Jin Kazama? Tekken 6's ending so the son of Kazuya down after fighting Azazel... So will he return as a secret character in future updates and the console version? Only time will tell.

For now, only 20 characters are expected to be in the first early release of the game. Thanks goes to Event Hubs for the updates on the story.

Tekken 7: Katsuhiro Harada unveils poster, details, and first location testing event on October 3-5 in Japan

The King of Iron Fist Tournament celebrates 20 years of existence in the video game world... And Tekken franchise director Katsuhiro Harada is ready to unveil to the world the first look of the latest installment in the series in action, as he and Bandai Namco Games announce that Tekken 7 will begin location tests for the game in Tokyo and Osaka from October 3-5!

As reported and detailed by Famitsu, the event will also feature special Bana Passport gift cards for the first 100 players to sign up and answer questionnaires given, as well well as special stickers that those who attend the location tests will receive. Event Hubs also reports that the game will make use of Online Matchmaking, which is a first in the series as well.

Announced a month ago and as the 7th canonical installment in the series, Tekken 7 will serve, according to Harada, as the conclusion to the long running Mishima Bloodline saga that involves series mainstays Heihachi, Kazuya, and Jin Kazama. The story will also answer what happened to Kazuya's mother Kazumi Mishima, and why Heihachi had to kill her and what the mystery surrounding the Devil Gene is all about.

No release date has been given for Tekken 7, but it uses the Unreal Engine 4 will come out for arcades first before hitting consoles.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Update: New Trailer! New Character! New... Heihachi?!

Yep, you didn't hear that wrong! As teased and finally unveiled via his Twitter and reported via Kotaku, Tekken series director Katsuhiro Harada has given fans another glimpse at his next blockbuster 3D fighter by Bandai Namco, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, featuring a younger Heihachi Mishima... with a full brush of hair! He still sports his regular Karate gi, but now the ruthless head of the Mishima Zaibatsu is faster and more vital than ever! This change was only natural, considering the fact that it was teased in the last TTT2 trailer, and the fact that Heihachi's original voice actor/ seiyuu, Daisuke Gori, tragically passed away January early this year. Hopefully this makeover pays him tribute and does the character's legacy justice! Check out the new Tekken Tag Tournament Trailer below... with a surprise reveal at the middle of it!

Tekken 7 Is Coming!

Everybody thought the Iron Fist was over. Think again!

A Eurogamer post reports that in a conference in Madrid, Tekken series Director Katsuhira Harada announced that Tekken 7 was in the early stages of production! Yes, the seventh installment of The King Of Iron Fist Tournament is coming, and even with no details up yet, you can bet that it will continue the saga and bring back fan favorite characters and introduce new ones in the sequel! As for the narrative, it will definitely continue the Mishima bloodline storyline, which ended in a cliffhanger scene in the last game, Tekken 6. If one follows the Tekken Force story mode starring Lars and Alessa, the endings shows Raven's organization finding the unconscious body of Jin Kazama in the sandy remains of Azazel's temple, after the young CEO of the Mishima Zaibatsu gave his life to end the demon's threat to the world once and for all. How Namco plans to take the story along from there is beyond me, but it's a sure bet that we'll be seeing Jin again... or at least his fate in the announced sequel.



On a sad note, Tekken 7 will be the first game in the series that the late Daisuke Gori will not be present in. It will be sad to see a game without the original voice of Heihachi, but if they decide to recast the role or reuse his existing audio clips, let's hope it pays tribute to the actor's work on the character at least.

R.I.P Daisuke Gori...

Man oh man, this is sad news to bear. Just last week, Yu Tanonaka, another famous Japanese Seiyuu died, and now Daisuke Gori - better known as the voice behind Dozle Zabi in Mobile Suit Gundam and Mr. Satan in Dragonball Z, has passed away. Probably one of the more well known Seiyuu's because of his resounding and deep voice, Gori was also the man who lent his voice to many signature fighting games, taking on the role of Tina's father, Bass Armstrong, in the Dead Or Alive series, and even Raiden in SNK's The King Of Fighters XII.



Daisuke Gori will probably be better known to fans as the guy who played Heihachi Mishima, the ambitious and powerful old man who is head of the Mishima Zaibatsu and sponsor of the Tekken tournament.

Details on his demise were posted on Kotaku, and upon learning of his death, it was shocking as it was saddening. Part of me feels that when Gori died, Heihachi died as well, as no other person could I know could give credence or due respect to the role after his excellent performance. The man has done several other projects outstanding projects over the years, with performances in Hokuto No Ken, Gundam, and Transformers to name a few, and looking at his resume just brings a tear to fans eyes. He even played E.Honda in Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie, and here's a clip showing just how much his voice fits the role.
