In just over a month, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann will bring viewers back to the post-apocalyptic world where a mutated Cordyceps virus has almost destroyed the world in "The Last Of Us" - and Season 2 will adapt the events of "The Last of Us Part II" and fundamentally change everything for Joel and Ellie as they try to live out their lives in Jackson.
Long rumored and speculated by fans since the release of “The Last Of Us Part I”, PlayStation and Naughty Dog have now officially revealed that the 2020 sequel “The Last Of Us Part II” is getting remastered for the PlayStation 5 - and it will arrive just as the new year begins this January 19!

In addition to new modes and enhanced graphics, those who already own TLOU Part II can upgrade to the Remastered edition on PS5 for $10. This month nine years ago, Naughty Dog released the downloadable prequel chapter for their critically acclaimed action-adventure game "The Last Of Us". It was called "Left Behind", and it focused on Ellie and her backstory before meeting Joel - as well as her friendship with another rebellious young teen named Riley.
Now that story will be the focus of next Sunday's episode, which HBO has previewed below with a teaser trailer.

It’s September 26 again, and that means fans of Naughty Dog’s “The Last Of Us” video games series are gathering together to celebrate everything about the survival horror action game franchise - including the recently released “The Last Of Us Part I” for PS5 that totally reworked and remastered the 2013 game from the ground up. In what will certainly get fans hyped and excited for what’s to come later this year and next, HBO Max has released a brand new sizzle reel of their upcoming new shows and seasons coming to the streaming service - including the long awaited first footage of the live-action series adaptation of “The Last of Us”!

Fans of Naughty Dog's Survival Horror action adventure game series The Last of Us are going to get a good serving of episodes once the show finishes production and airs, as showrunner and writer Craig Mazin and John August in an episode of their podcast Scriptnotes have discussed and revealed that the upcoming TV Series adaptation that is set to premiere on HBO sometime will consist of 10 episodes. That's a pretty good number, and should give Game of Thrones alums Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey a lot of stuff to work with.

One of the most anticipated TV series adaptations of one of the most beloved video game franchises in recent memory finally gets leads attached to the project, as HBO has cast Game of Thrones alums Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel Miller and Ellie in "The Last of Us" series!
As reported by Deadline, Bella Ramsey was revealed first as Ellie - and the young actress who played Lyanna Stark in the final seasons of Game of Thrones is undeniably talented and perfect to play the role of the 14 year old survivor who discovers she is immune to the fictional Cordyceps virus that has infected humanity and turned its victims into cannibalistic zombie creatures. Pascal, who played other fan favorite character Oberyn Martell in the series as well as the lead character in the Disney + Star Wars series The Mandalorian will be playing Joel Miller - the 40 year old survivor who is jaded by his experiences before and after the outbreak but is tasked with bringing Ellie across the former United States to a location where a possible cure could be made for the virus.
In addition to being very talented as Lyanna Mormont, Bella can play the guitar and sing - something that Ellie acquires in the TLOU universe thanks to Joel.
Looks like Joel and Ellie are officially getting the TV Series treatment, as HBO has officially greenlit "The Last of Us", with Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin set to write the show.
The news comes via The Hollywood Reporter, and Naughty Dog and The Last of Us director Neil Druckmann is set to help write and executive produce the program based on the video game series he helped create. HBO and Sony Pictures TV are producing it along with PlayStation Productions, Word Games, and Naughty Dog.
Based on the 2013 survival horror adventure and PlayStation exclusive, The Last Of Us takes place 20 years after a devastating fictional Cordyceps virus cripples civilization and turns its victims into fungal monstrous creatures. Joel - a survivor who works as a smuggler and bears a tragic past, is tasked with taking a young girl named Ellie from one quarantined state to another, on a mission that could help turn things around and save humanity from the virus once and for all. However, Joel and Ellie's journey is filled with danger from both the infected and the living - forcing them to rely on each other for survival and changing their lives forvever.
The Last of Us TV Series has no release date or other details yet, but there'll definitely be more details coming as the developers work to bring this critically acclaimed video game series to life on the small screen.
