Street Fighter V: Champion Edition - Dan Hibiki Character Preview trailer
As the first DLC fighter coming out for the fifth and final season pass for the game, Dan Hibiki makes his triumphant return to the Street Fighter arena - first appearing in the Street Fighter Alpha/ Zero series and last appearing as a playable character in Street Fighter IV. He's expected to make his grand entrance for the game this Winter 2020.
It's the late 90's and early 2000's all over again, as Capcom has made a surprising reunion with fellow Japanese video game developer and publisher Arika to add some content to their latest iteration of Street Fighter in "Street Fighter V: Champion Edition" - and that's in the form of a special Extra Battle costume for Ryu based on the Fighting EX Layer/ Street Figher EX character Kairi!
For those who don't remember the Street Fighter EX series, it was the first 2.5D spin-off series for Capcom that departed from their traditional 2D animated fighting games. The games were developed by Arika, and while they featured well known World Warrios like Ryu, Chun-Li, Ken, Guile, and Zangief, some new fighters like Hokuto, Allen, and the aforementioned Kairi made their debut in this series. Street Fighter EX would go on to have two sequels as well as updates in true Street Fighter fashion, but the characters developed by Arika would not return in a Capcom game after the release of Street Fighter EX3 for the Playstation 2. Instead, they would appear in their own Arika published game called "Fighting Layer", and recently in a new spiritual successor game called "Fighting EX Layer".
With many fighting game companies working together and allowing crossovers to happen in their titles, Kairi's "addition" as an unlockable Extra Battle Costume for Ryu is the first in years that the two companies are back working together to put an "active character" from the EX series in SFV CE (not counting the Shadaloo profiles database). If you're a fan of these characters and still play Street Fighter, go and log in to unlock this outfit for Ryu! It runs from now until early October!
After promising some big announcements for their "Summer Update" live stream showcase for Street Fighter V, Capcom kept their word and revealed four of the five new characters that will be appearing in the fifth and final season pass of "Street Fighter V: Champion Edition". Three of these fighters are very familiar to fans of the series... While the fourth one is an unexpected yet very welcomed entry into the saga that finally brings a character from one of Capcom's fan favorite brawler into the Street Fighter canon!
Street Fighter V Summer Update
The four characters revealed are as follows -Dan Hibiki, Rose, Oro, and surprise entrant Akira Kazama of Rival Schools fame! Dan will be the first to arrive and he actually had test footage shown in the stream presentation (which also featured AEW star Kenny Omega - who's a Street Fighter player himself!). Rose and Oro were no brainers as they appeared in the story mode of SFV... But Akira's inclusion is a welcomed one - as it marks the first time a Rival Schools character is crossing over to Street Fighter instead of the other way around as Sakura did!
UPDATE: Here's Dan gameplay test footage straight from Capcom and Playstation!

The long wait for the official reveal of one of the most anticipated new Street Fighter V DLC characters is finally over. At the end of the Capcom Pro Tour affiliated event called "ComboBreaker 2018", Capcom officially unveiled "Final Fight" hero/ anti-hero and veteran Cody Travers in his very own character gameplay trailer for "Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition" - and he's showing off a new corporate and slick back look that reflects his new status in life - that being the new mayor of his hometown Metro City and succeeding his on/ off again mentor and friend Mike Haggar!
Those who have followed Street Fighter's long history in video games will remember that Cody first appeared as a playable character in Street Fighter Alpha 3 - literally as a shadow of his former heroic self as he was falsely accused of a crime and sent to jail to become a prisoner. Disillusioned and jaded, the Final Fight hero fell into disarray and simply led a devil may care ruffian lifestyle who fought simply because it pleased him. Cody would then reappear in the Street Fighter IV games starting with "Super Street Fighter IV", and now marks his long awaited return in new spirits as the Mayor of Metro City! In fact the reveal trailer pays homage to the original Final Fight opening, with Mayor Cody played by wrestler and fighting game player Kenny Omega!
