For you, the day Legendary acquired the rights to Capcom’s “Street Fighter” for Movie & TV just may be the most important announcement of your life… But for long time fans of the franchise, it was Tuesday.
Paraphrasing the late great Raul Julia’s quote of “Bison Tuesday” aside from the 1994 “Street Fighter” movie, Deadline reports that the studio behind the “Dune” and the “Monsterverse” films that feature Godzilla and Kong will work alongside Capcom to tackle film and television projects based on one of the most popular fighting game IPs on the planet and the one that helped revolutionize the fighting game genre in the 1990’s. A feature film is in development, and this news comes months before the latest installment in the video game series, Street Fighter 6, is released for PC and consoles.
Come the middle of next year, it'll be time for Street Fighter fans to upgrade to the next instalment at last - as the official release date for "Street Fighter 6" was confirmed by Capcom (after accidentally being leaked almost a day earlier via the PS Store).
The game will be out on June 2, 2023 for the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Steam, and will be offered in three different packages as seen above with Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, and Ultimate Edition.
Check out the Pre-Order Trailer released during The Game Awards a few days ago, featuring the newly revealed characters as seen above with the key art that include the returning Dee Jay and three new fighters in Manon, Marisa, and JP.

35 years ago this day in Japanese arcades, the original Street Fighter was released and introduced the world to the franchise that would be synonymous with Capcom and the world of fighting games. It wouldn’t be until the release of its 1991 sequel Street Fighter II where the series’ popularity would boom and many characters like Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Guile, Sagat, and M. Bison would become household names, but it got its start with that 1987 title and things would only grow bigger from there.
Following Street Fighter II’s success, more sequels, spin-offs, and other forms of media and merchandise would follow. Street Fighter would take the world by storm and would feature largely in the fighting game community, leading to the birth of events and tournaments where fans and fighters from around the world could gather and participate in. After a brief hiatus in the early 2000’s that saw the franchise all but gone, Street Fighter IV would be released and see a resurgence in interest for fighting games. Street Fighter V would eventually follow, and now that game is ready to give way to its successor in Street Fighter 6 - which is set for release some time next year.
Three and a half decades of FIGHT! Happy anniversary, Street Fighter!

And here are video leaks from Twitter showing off Ken and Cammy, with the latter performing her super move and also sporting her classic outfit as well. Ken in particular also had his story possibly leaked - suggesting he and Eliza split because he wanted to follow the same warrior path as Ryu, and he wears Mel's dog tags and is supposedly acting like a lost and "washed up" fighter.
