The Hobbit: 3rd and final film is now retitled as "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies"
The last and final installment of The Hobbit now has a new title to it!
In a post made in his official Facebook page, director Peter Jackson has officially given an update on the next and final chapter of his epic Lord of The Rings prequel trilogy of "The Hobbit", announcing that the third film has now been retitled from "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" into "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies".
In his update, the director explains the title change was "appropriate", and that the title "There and Back Again" may appear in collected editions of the Hobbit Trilogy, reflecting that it sums up the entirety of Bilbo Baggins' epic journey, while "Battle of the Five Armies" fits the theme of the last installment of the prequel set of films.
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will be released in theaters on December 17, 2014.

The Hobbit: There and Back Again gets bumped to December 2014
Looks like fans of Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" trilogy will truly see each installment wrap up at the end of each year, as New Line Cinema and MGM have moved the release of the last film "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" from July 18, 2014 to December 17, 2014. This keeps it in line with the consistent release of Middle-Earth films every December, and puts the last film away from Bryan Singer's new X-Men flick "X-Men: Days of Future Past", which also happens to star Gandalf actor Sir Ian McKellen, who reprises his role as Magneto in the Marvel film.
Based on J.R.R Tolkien's book of the same name, The Hobbit Trilogy is a prequel to The Lord of The Rings Trilogy and chronicles the adventures of a Hobbit named Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf The Wizard, and a company of dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield. The first film, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey", hit theaters last December 12, while the next installment, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug", hits theaters this December 13. Distributed by Warner Bros., catch "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" on its new release date on December 17, 2014.
