Guardians of the Galaxy reaches $94 Million in the US Box Office; James Gunn thanks everyone for the film

It may sound like a miracle, but it was all hard work for James Gunn and his cast and crew that made the latest Marvel Studios blockbuster hit for the Marvel Cinematic Universe that is Guardians of the Galaxy.

The film is GOING STRONG, and has earned as much as $94 Million in the Box Office in the US for its opening weekend, making it one of the biggest openings ever for the month according to a report by Superherohype.

Taking the time to go to his official Facebook page and reply to the fans for the immense success the film has enjoyed, Gunn had this to say:

Thanks to all of you who saw (and are seeing) Guardians of the Galaxy this weekend, from the bottom of my heart. The Guardians are a group of oddballs, outcasts, and geeks. The movie is for anyone who ever felt cast aside, left out, or different. It's for all of us who don't belong. This movie belongs to you. And, today, I think we're doing okay.

I am of course happy with all the film has accomplished box-office-wise. But what touches me the most is that the film I told the folks at Marvel I wanted to make two years ago is the film that you're seeing in theaters today - it's that so many of you seem to be directly EXPERIENCING the film I INTENDED. The cast, the producers, the crew, and I felt like we were making something special while we were making it. But it is very rare that a director's INTENTIONS in creating a film, or a scene, or a character, or a line of dialogue are, seemingly, specifically what is experienced by an audience (not to mention critics!), and that seems to be what has happened here. You have allowed a talking raccoon - for a moment, a minute, or a day - to make you a little more human. And for that, I am profoundly grateful.

If I relied on myself to implement these intentions, the film would be a shambling mess. But instead, I had a wonderful cast, genius producers, an incredibly brave studio, sublimely talented visual effects artists, great editors, and the best damn crew of mostly-British bastards to actually implement these intentions for me. Where I had a good idea they would, through alchemy, transform it into a great one. Many of you involved are friends of mine on Facebook. Many of you will read this somewhere else. I love you all.

You may remember me posting here a couple weeks ago how sad I was to be finishing up the film, that I was having trouble letting go of Rocket, and that I was going to miss him. But seeing him (and Groot, and the rest of the team) embraced by the world like they have been, to be UNDERSTOOD, makes it a wonderful letting go. It's like giving a foster pet up for adoption to the most wonderful parents in the world.

And, of course, I'm not really saying goodbye as, while many of you have been enjoying the film, I've spent this weekend hard at work on the sequel. I couldn't help myself! The results are nice but it's really the creative process I love and that keeps me going. I'm on fire with this thing! The Guardians have so many hardships and heartaches and triumphs ahead of them, and I can't wait to share them with all of you.

Onto week two...

Love, James

And that is from the heart of a director who did what he sought to do, and his vision was interpreted in an 80's style, space opera, comic book film of a masterpiece. Thank you James Gunn, and I can't wait for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 in 2017!

Also, this little nostalgia of a box art shared by Gunn in Facebook was, well, Awesome.

And if you haven't gotten the soundtrack yet... You must find that Awesome Mix Vol. 1!

Catch Guardians of the Galaxy in theaters around the world now!

Transformers: Age of Extinction has officially opened in theaters worldwide, and it continues the saga Michael Bay started in 2007 that brings Hasbro's Robots in Disguise into the big screen. This new chapter focuses on a very different set of human allies and enemies, but still features Optimus Prime and his heroic Autobots battling the evil Decepticons with the fate of Earth hanging in the balance.

However, if you haven't had a chance to catch up with the first three films of the Bayformers series, then Vulture (via Slash Film) has got you covered with the recap video that explains everything in just three minutes. Give it a go if you need a refresher before seeing the new film in 2D or 3D.

A brand new TV Spot for Michael Bay's next installment in his Transformers film series hints at the possibility that we may see one BIG Transformer villain making his appearance in the big screen... And that may be UNICRON.

Transformers: Age of Extinction - TV Spot

As shared by a report by Comic Book Movie, the Chaos Bringer and ancient Transformer is speculated to be in the new film "Transformers: Age of Extinction", judging from the massive structure that Decepticon Lockdown and his compatriots are standing in. It could be farfetched and just a ship, but nevertheless an interesting theory if true... And it's just a few days until the movie hits theaters.

In line with the upcoming release of Michael Bay's latest film based on Hasbro's beloved Robots In Disguise franchise, four new viral posters have been released promoting an "Anti-Transformer" campaign that affects both Autobots and Decepticons alike in the new Transformers movies sequel, Transformers: Age of Extinction.

Set four years after the events of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the film sees Mark Wahlberg as the new human lead, who happens to come across a dormant Optimus Prime. After awakening the ancient Autobot, Prime is now forced to gather his fellow warriors once more, as an ancient Decepticon force prepares to hit Earth. With humanity no longer their allies and the stakes even higher, the Autobots must truly question whether the age of Transformers on Earth is over or not.

Joblo presents The X-Men Retrospective

X-Men: Days of Future Past is finally in theaters worldwide, and many consider it THE BEST among the X-Films 20th Century Fox and Marvel have put up to date. I even wrote a review on the film, and can say with heartfelt joy and satisfaction that this movie mostly fixes any continuity issues past films have had, as well as giving hope for the franchise and whatever else lies down the line as it moves forward with new stories to pursue.

However, there may be a handful out there who are not familiar with the past X-Men Movies, which include the first two films Bryan Singer directed, the lukewarm X-Men: The Last Stand, the two Wolverine spin-off films, and finally the prequel masterpiece that was X-Men: First Class. Thankfully, movie news and trailers site Joblo has created this pretty neat retrospective video that highlights ALL THE FILMS leading to Days of Future Past, so if you need a brush up from 2000-2014, see this one!

The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Thoughts on the 30-Minute Preview, Comic Book & IMAX Poster, & Final International Trailer online

Not pulling the stops in the promotional campaign before its release, Sony Pictures and Marvel have released a couple of new posters and a FINAL international trailer to Marc Webb's upcoming Spider-Man film sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2! It's literally just a few weeks left until the release of the film, and after seeing the 30-Minute Preview c/o Columbia Picture Philippines, I cannot stress how exciting and intense this sequel is going to be!

The "30 Minute Preview" was a three act sequence that began with a prologue showing what truly happened to Peter Parker's parents, Richard and Mary Parker, just after leaving their boy with Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Act Two then focuses on Spidey saving the day and fighting the man who would be Rhino, while barely trying to catch up with his own graduation! Then Peter tries to rekindle time with his love interest Gwen Stacy, only to have Electro make an entrance at Times Square. Finally, the preview ends with Harry Osborn teaming up with the electric powered villain himself, and Spidey in for a world of hurt with teases on what's to come for the sequel! These all illustrate what kind of sequel we're dealing with here, and it also proves 3D may be the best way to view and experience this superhero movie altogether! There's plenty of action, wise-cracking, and the kinds of dynamic and story that make this possibly THE Spider-Man movie we have been waiting for!

Right above and as seen in Superherohype is a stellar "comic book poster" that pays homage to the actual cover seen in "The Amazing Spider-Man #121", which in itself is a SPOILER for those who don't know their Spidey history well!

And here's a pretty daring IMAX poster by artist Matt Taylor, as seen in Comic Book.com

And finally, here's what may be the FINAL international trailer promoting the film!
