"Rest in Power, King" - The world honors Chadwick Boseman a year since his passing

 

It's hard to believe that it's been one year to the day since Chadwick Boseman passed away after battling colon cancer. The Howard University graduate continued to act despite his illness - and he contributed so many stellar performances throughout his career... With his most well-known role being of course the King of Wakanda and Black Panther of the Marvel Cinematic Universe himself, T'Challa.

Now that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is currently shooting, the role of T'Challa will NOT be recast as revealed by Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios. Instead, we will eventually find out what has become of the character story wise - and what will become of the Black Panther mantle whether it goes to his sister Shuri or someone else. Time will tell, and one of the last parts Chadwick Boseman portrayed was lending his voice for What If? where T'Challa became Star-Lord instead of Peter Quill.

Rest in Power, King. We miss you.

Ryan Coogler is developing a “Wakanda” TV Series for Disney+

 Literally... WAKANDA FOREVER!

Looks like the legacy of the Black Panther and the nation which he has protected for generations is going to get its own TV Series, as Variety reports that Ryan Coogler, director of Creed and the first Black Panther film, and his company Proximity Media have negotiated a multi-year deal with Disney to produce content for television and Disney+- and the first project the director will handle is a new “Wakanda” TV series that will spotlight the beloved advanced technology city that was built on and produces Vibranium.

It’s an honor to be partnering with The Walt Disney Company,” Coogler said. “Working with them on ‘Black Panther’ was a dream come true. As avid consumers of television, we couldn’t be happier to be launching our television business with Bob Iger, Dana Walden and all the amazing studios under the Disney umbrella. We look forward to learning, growing, and building a relationship with audiences all over the world through the Disney platforms. We are especially excited that we will be taking our first leap with Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and their partners at Marvel Studios where we will be working closely with them on select MCU shows for Disney+. We’re already in the mix on some projects that we can’t wait to share.”

After the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman due to cancer last year, the plot and future of the Black Panther still remains a mystery as the role of T’Challa will not be recast. Seeing a Wakanda series would expand the nation’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe greatly, and would serve as a nice companion piece to the Black Panther sequel which Coogler will also direct.

Marvel and ABC to celebrate the legacy of Chadwick Boseman with "Black Panther" airing and ABC News Special

In what is definitely a weekend of mourning over the unexpected loss of a rising star and "King", Marvel and ABC have announced that they are airing a special presentation of Chadwick Boseman's blockbuster superhero solo flick "Black Panther" on the US Channel - which will be followed by the ABC News Special: Chadwick Boseman - A Tribute For A King. This is all to honor the sudden passing of the Hollywood star and Marvel Cinematic Universe actor - who lost his battle with colon cancer and died at the age of 43.

R.I.P Chadwick Boseman, aka The Black Panther

In what is certainly become a very very sad way to end the last weekend of August 2020, the world got the devastating news that actor Chadwick Boseman - best known for portraying King T'Challa/ Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - succumbed to his battle against colon cancer at the age of 43. It was sudden as it was depressing - Boseman battled the disease privately and no one knew he was suffering from it until the very end. :(

It's definitely a sad time and a terrible year for all, and I even had to pay tribute in a video and post dedicated to this talented actor gone too soon. What the future of Black Panther be in the MCU remains to be seen... But now we mourn the loss of a king.

Black Panther: "Wakanda Revealed" featurette explores the kingdom and home of T'Challa

Hitting theaters this week and bringing a very different kind of superhero film into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios has released a "Wakanda Revealed" featurette for "Black Panther" - the film that brings Chadwick Boseman back as T'Challa and sees viewers getting to know more about his kingdom Wakanda and its people firsthand as well as their relationship with the world.

Black Panther: Hot Toys previews upcoming 1/6th Scale Collectible Figure

As the world prepares for Chadwick Boseman to reprise his role as T'Challa the new king of Wakanda and set forth in his own solo adventure film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe this week, Hot Toys has released preview images of their upcoming 1/6th scale "Black Panther" collectible figure - which recreates the stunning looking new costume of the African nation superhero as well as adding interchangeable parts like an alternate head, multiple hands, and other accessories.

Empire Magazine reveals "Subscriber Cover" spotlighting "Black Panther"

Hitting theaters on the second month of 2018, Empire Magazine (via Comic Book Movie) has revealed their "Subscriber Cover" spotlighting Marvel Studios' next Marvel Cinematic Universe film in "Black Panther" -  which brings Chadwick Boseman back in the role of King T'Challa of Wakanda. The film will be helmed by "Creed" director Ryan Coogler, and also features the likes of Martin Freeman, Andy Serkis, Michael B. Jordan, and Danai Gurira co-starring.

Black Panther: New International Trailer released

Hitting theaters early next year and bringing the first solo film of the heroic superhero king of Wakanda to the big screen, Marvel Studios and Disney have released a new international trailer to "Black Panther" that features more scenes and sequences that have not been seen in previous trailers.

Black Panther: Character posters released

Set to be released early next year and acting as the first of three Marvel films for 2018, Marvel Studios has released several new character posters for "Black Panther" - their 18th film in the growing Marvel Cinematic Universe and the first solo film for T'Challa/ Black Panther, once again played by Chadwick Boseman as he reprises his role from 2016's "Captain America: Civil War".

Featuring the likes of Danai Gurira's Okoye and Michael B. Jordan's Erik Killmonger, the character posters pain each character's personality through pose and simple text descriptions of their motivations that play out in the upcoming film. Set to hit theaters early next year and bringing one of the most iconic Marvel heroes into his own solo flick, Marvel Studios and Disney have released the new theatrical trailer to "Black Panther" - which is the eighteenth film in the growing "Marvel Cinematic Universe" and once again finds viewers following T'Challa, the young king of the Vibranium making nation of Wakanda, as he struggles to prevent rebelling factions from bringing war and chaos into his home country.

Black Panther graces the cover of EW's "Comic-Con Preview" issue

With San Diego Comic-Con just around the corner and set to begin on next week, Entertainment Weekly has gone ahead and released the cover to their "Comic-Con 2017 Preview" issue which highlights none other than Marvel Studios' first 2018 film Black Panther - which sees Chadwick Boseman back as T'Challa/ Black Panther along with new co-stars like Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurai, and Andy Serkis. The film will be directed by "Creed" director Ryan Coogler, and is set for release on February 16 next year.

SDCC 2017 will happen on July 20 and run until July 23!

Making its way to theaters early next year as the next chapter of the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chadwick Boseman will once again take up the royalty role of T'Challa of Wakanda, and serve his brand of justice in defense of his home and country as its protector "Black Panther" - which finally has its first teaser trailer and poster released courtesy of Marvel Entertainment.
