Tom Holland’s “Spider-Man 4” Set for July 2026 With Destin Daniel Cretton as Director

The date is officially set - Tom Holland’s return as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man will be happening in less than two years, as The Hollywood Reporter reports that the untitled “Spider-Man 4” will be released on July 2026!

Holland’s new Spidey film will presumably pick up where things left off in No Way Home - with a clean slate where the world doesn’t know who Peter Parker is and he continues to soldier on as your friendly neighborhood wallcrawler. The film will be directed by “Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings” director Destin Daniel Cretton, and shooting is expected to begin next summer for Tom - whose schedule will also be packed due to filming Christopher Nolan’s new film alongside Matt Damon and possibly for Avengers: Doomsday as well. Both of those movies are also getting 2026 release dates too.

The untitled new Spidey film hits US theaters on July 24, 2026.

Here's the official synopsis for the upcoming spin-off that's based on the character of the same name from Marvel Comics:

Today marks the Battle of Earth and Iron Man's Sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame

If you're a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the films Marvel Studios has created, then today's date is significant as it marks one of the most important events in cinema history.

On this date in the fictional MCU timeline (October 17, 2023), the "Battle of Earth" takes place and the victims of Thanos' Snap/ The Blip are restored to life thanks to the Avengers -  culminating in an epic battle against the time-displaced Thanos and his armies that sees the villain defeated and Iron Man sacrificing his life to make that victory a reality.

To think this film eerily mirrors what we went through with the pandemic the past couple of years and coming back from it after isolation for a few years. Celebrate by rewatching "Avengers: Endgame".

Four Years Ago, The First “Avengers: Endgame” Teaser Was Released

In what seemed like only yesterday but actually was released four years ago this day - Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, and The Russo Brothers unleashed the very first trailer and title reveal to the then unnamed fourth Avengers film - which was revealed to be “Avengers: Endgame” at the end of a teaser that was built upon the fallout of “Avengers: Infinity War” in which Thanos succeeded in eliminating half of life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In many ways it’s ironic that we look back at this moment in movie history and relate it to what has happened thus far - the world is continuing to cope and rise back up following a pandemic that, similar to The Snap, has changed life as we know it and is eerily similar to what the characters in the film had to do after that and post-Blip.

Watch the trailer again here.

Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man was Released 20 Years Ago Today

One of the most important movies in the history of superhero films and cinema was released exactly two decades ago today! The very first Spider-Man film directed by Sam Raimi opened in theaters on May 3, 2002 - introducing the world to Tobey Maguire’s version of the wallcrawler as well as Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson and Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn/ Green Goblin.

Nothing short of AMAZING and SPECTACULAR, Spider-Man would go on to become a box office success - spawning two sequels also directed by Raimi and two rebooted franchises that would continue the legacy of the webslinger in the big screen. Eventually those versions would meet in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with “Spider-Man: No Way Home” - bringing back Maguire and seeing Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland team up with him for a multiversal adventure like no other! Sam Raimi would also get to return to Marvel movies with this year’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”!

Happy 20th, Spider-Man!

ICYMI: The first Spider-Man: No Way Home poster is filled with familiar and returning villains

A month and so after the release of the very first trailer for the highly anticipated sequel, Sony Pictures, Columbia Pictures, and Marvel Studios have released the very first poster for Spider-Man: No Way Home... And it's filled with some very familiar villains from the Spider-Man movies of the past that have made their way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe because of the mess Parker made opening the multiverse!

Of course with Doctor Octopus' tentacles already front and center, in the background we can see Green Goblin hovering, the sands of Sandman floating, and lightning striking down which only means Electro! And of course we just have to wait and see if other past villains like The Lizard and the dead (?) Mysterio show up... Or Even Vulture to give us something "Sinister". That and some still unseen past Spideys too... We'll just have to wait and see.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will hit theaters this holiday season!
