A new Batman #1 by Matt Fraction and Jorge Jimenez Launches this September

A new era for DC Comics’ Dark Knight will begin this September, as a brand new “Batman #1” by the creative team of Matt Fraction and Jorge Jimenez launches this September - giving Bruce Wayne’s alter ego a new logo and makeover and harkening back to the blue and grey colors that defined the character through most of the mid-2000’s.

As reported by Newsarama, the new series will follow Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee’s return to the series with “Hush 2/ H2SH” - which will begin with Batman #158 this March and run for six issues. The new relaunch will also feature a new Batmobile - but even that hasn’t been revealed yet… For now.

Mark Millar Returns to Nemesis with Jorge Jimenez as Artist for "Nemesis Reloaded" This 2023

The biggest, baddest, and most ruthless criminal in the world will be returning in a series more than a decade in the making, as Mark Millar teams up with Batman artist Jorge Jimenez for his follow-up to Nemesis with "Nemesis Reloaded" - which will begin this January 2023 under Millar's Millarworld publication!

The news comes via Millarworld and Comic Book Resources, with the story still kept under wraps but will be a sequel to the 2010 comic book miniseries/ graphic novel which pits a Batman-like international criminal against the world's best cop who's very much inspired by James Gordon. A Nemesis film is also in production, but other than news on the project moving around studios and different people working on the script - no other details have been mentioned on when it will come out.

Chip Zdarsky Teams Up With Jorge Jimenez for "Batman" Starting July

Come July, one of the most prolific writers in the comic book world is taking on the mainline title of DC's flagship superhero, as Chip Zdarsky teams up with artist Jorge Jimenez for "Batman" starting this July with issue #125 - which begins the six issue storyline called "Failsafe".

Taking over from Joshua Williamson who is handling the current Batman arc as well as "Shadow War" crossover event with Deathstroke, this new storyline will test Bruce Wayne and his alter ego to their limits as Zdarsky describes "Failsafe as his Doomsday" in his interview with Comic Book.com.

"When DC approached me to write Batman, I immediately thought about things that could really challenge the character mentally, physically, and in terms of his relationships Failsafe is his Doomsday. When I started mapping out the story I got really excited about where it could take the title."

Zdarsky is currently writing the miniseries "Batman: The Knight" and will also be handling Daredevil when it relaunches after Devil's Reign finishes.

Failsafe begins with Batman #125 this coming July 5.

Nightwing makes his long awaited return in cover to Batman #99

Ever since he got shot in the head by the KGBeast in Batman #55, Richard "Dick" Grayson's life has literally turned upside down and has never been the same for fans of the former Robin turned Nightwing. Batman went on a mission to avenge his fallen adopted son/ ward, but after Dick recovers he is not the same man. He doesn't remember ANYTHING after the death of his parents, and that amnesia pretty much erases his time as a hero and his history with the Bat Family. Beginning with Nightwing #50, he goes by the name "Ric Grayson" - and tries to lead a new life as a cab driver and normal civilian. That doesn't stick though, as his past somehow comes back to haunt him with four individuals taking up the Nightwing persona as a team, dealing with the Court of Owls, and "Ric" is pulled back into the world of crimefighting due to instinct and a feeling.

That will all come to a head in "Joker War" apparently, and via Newsarama/ Gamesradar and artist Jorge Jimenez on Twitter, it looks like Dick Grayson/ Nightwing will be back to reclaim his identity at long last if the cover to Batman #99 is any indication! I sure hope so - as MANY HAVE WAITED FOR DICK TO RETURN. It all leads to the milestone issue of Batman #100 this October... And one can only hope this is the payoff.

Batman #99, written by James Tynion IV and illustrated by Jorge Jimenez -  is solicited for a September release.
