Happy Fourth of July and Happy Birthday, Captain America!


It's the Fourth of July today, and a certain Star Spangled Avenger from Marvel Comics celebrates his fictional birthdate today AND the release of his new ongoing series with a brand new issue #1! That's right - Marvel is celebrating the birthday of Steve Rogers, better known to the world as Captain America - and a brand new series by Ta-Nehisi Coates, Leinil Francis Yu, Gerry Alanguilan and more is out today! With plenty of variant covers to choose from ranging from the great Alex Ross to the legendary Mike Zeck and even Adam Hughes and Ron Garney, this is a celebration for the Sentinel of Liberty no Cap fan should miss - especially on his birthday! Tom King reassures fans things go beyond what happens in Batman #50


A great writer knows how to generate interest and hype for something that has built since the very beginning of a storyline, and Tom King has certainly proven himself a master of Batman and his world - bringing things to a head with this week's much anticipated "Batman/ Catwoman Wedding" that will be chronicled in "Batman #50". Now the results of that have been SPOILED by DC and the New York Times, and while that is around in the interwebs to see (at your own risk), King has taken to Twitter to reassure fans that he is far from finished after the issue and the love story between Batman and Catwoman continues under his watch for something going to 100 issues!

Dan Slott teams up with Sara Pichelli for new "Fantastic Four" comic series


After teasing a BIG announcement to come today via their social media accounts, Marvel and new Editor in Chief C.B. Cebulski have revealed in a video announcement that they are bringing back the "Fantastic Four" in a brand new ongoing series this August - with soon to be former "Amazing Spider-Man" writer Dan Slott taking on writing duties and teaming up alongside artist Sara Pichelli! After missing for a few years since the end of "Secret Wars", Marvel's first family returns in a long awaited reunion that sees Reed Richards/ Mr. Fantastic and Sue Richards/ The Invisible Woman returning to the Marvel Universe and reteaming with Ben Grimm/ The Thing and Johnny Storm/ The Human Torch once again!

DC Comics announces new "Justice League" relaunch series for June w/ Scott Snyder, Jim Cheung, and Jorge Jimenez


In what will certainly get DC fans talking following the events of "Dark Nights: Metal" and their summer Justice League centered event called "No Justice", DC Comics has announced that superstar Batman writer Scott Snyder will be paired with artists Jim Cheung and Jorge Jimenez to relaunch "Justice League" with a brand new issue #1 this June! The line-up - teasing the long awaited return of Martian Manhunter to the legue as well as the addition of Green Lantern John Stewart and Hawkgirl ala the classic Justice League and Justice League Unlimited DC Animated Series, a great mystery will bring these heroes together and shape the DC Universe anew moving forward.

Justice League ships biweekly with issue #1 hitting on June 6 and #2 on June 20.

ICYMI: DC to launch new "DC Black Label" imprint this year


Announced at their official website and bringing a new imprint to their comic book line that will tell new, daring, and different stories based on their beloved characters, DC Comics has announced "DC Black Label" - a series of standalone stories featuring Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman and done by some of the best writers and artists of the industry today. Featuring the likes of Frank Miller and John Romita Jr. doing "Superman: Year One"; Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo doing "Batman: Last Knight on Earth"; "Batman: Damned" by Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo; Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons by Kelly Sue DeConnick and Phil Jimenez; Greg Rucka writing "Wonder Woman: Diana's Daughter"; and John Ridley writing "The Other History of the DC Universe" - there's PLENTY to look forward to later this year from this brand new label from DC themselves.

ICYMI: Scott Snyder takes over Justice League following "No Justice" weekly series this June


In case you missed the news from DC - Following the events of the DC Comics' crossover event "Dark Nights: Metal", Batman writer Scott Snyder will be dealing with the ramifications of that event with a weekly miniseries starting this May called "No Justice" - which will see members of the Justice League splintering into different factions and groups, with writers James Tynion IV and Josh Williamson joining him for writing duties and Francis Manapul for the artwok. Also following that, Snyder himself will take over the main team flagship title of "Justice League" beginning this June.

That's pretty big and a lot to take in for 2018... And definitely setting up a bigger play for the DC Universe moving forward. For more on the story, visit Batman-News.com.

Marvel: Marvel Infinity Teaser poster released


Giving comic readers a glimpse of what will likely be the next big event happening in 2018 during the "Marvel Legacy" era, Marvel Comics has released a teaser poster for something dealing with "Infinity" - as Wolverine, Star-Lord, and Captain Marvel each hold one of the Infinity Stones in the palm of their hands. What this means and how it plays out for the Marvel Universe is anyone's guess... But it may be the House of Ideas way of tying things up to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's next big movie in "Avengers: Infinity War" - which hits in the middle of of 2018.
