November's finally here, and there's some good news for fans anxiously waiting for Christopher Nolan's next Batman flick, The Dark Knight Rises!
Via Batman-On-Film and Comic Book Movie, there's a report going that a new trailer will be attached to the next Guy Ritchie directed Sherlock Holmes film, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows! Now Warner Bros. is giving people a reason to catch the movie besides seeing the movie for more Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law detective action, and that's now all. Remember that a 6 minute Prologue is going to be attached with IMAX screenings of the next Mission Impossible film, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol the same month Sherlock Holmes 2 comes out, so December is going to be a BIG TEASER MONTH for Batman fans! Looks like Robert Downey Jr. will be getting the same screenwriter for his new sequels in the Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes franchises, as Drew Pearce has been hired by Warner Bros. to pen the story for the British sleuth's next adventure. The story was reported by The Hollywood Reporter and posted at Superherohype, so it's amusing to note the Downey's getting the same writer who's penning the script for Iron Man 3, which is due on May 2013 and directed by Shane Black. Via Superherohype, Warner Bros. has released two new banner posters for their upcoming Guy Ritchie directed Sherlock Homes' sequel - Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows! The new one sheets spotlight none other than Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes and Jude Law as Dr. Watson respectively, as each man poses sideways and clings on to a weapon, with the cities of Paris and London in the background.
There's Sherlock Holmes himself, with the Eiffel Tower clearly seen in the back.
And here's his good chap and partner, Dr. Watson, with Big Ben this time on the display.

I didn't get to see this during the premiere last night, but finally the trailer has appeared online!
Set to be attached to screenings of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II, the first trailer for the Guy Ritchie directed Sherlock Holmes sequel "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" has hit the web via Bleeding Cool, and is also available online to view in Apple. Once again reuniting Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson respectively, their next adventure gives them their greatest case yet as they have to contend with the very cunning and dangerous Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris). Yahoo! Movies, Slash Film, and Superherohype have featured two new posters released by Warner Bros. for the upcoming Sherlock Holmes sequel "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows"! Once again directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson respectively, the new movie finds the duo taking up their latest case as they cross wits and paths with Holmes' new archnemesis, Professor Moriarty (played by Jared Harris). The first poster, featured above, has Holmes holding a pistol with Moriarty in the background. The second one sheet has Watson on the foreground this time, while new leading lady Noomi Rapace is in the back playing her role of Sim.
Also, don't forget to note that the first trailer for this movie MAY appear with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II this week, alongside another rumored teaser trailer debut for The Dark Knight Rises! Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is set for release on December 16, 2011.
Slash Film has just posted what appears to be the first official picture from Sherlock Holmes 2! The sequel to 2009's Christmas adventure that is once again directed by Guy Ritchie will have actors Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law reprising their roles as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson respectively. Noomi Rapace will be joining the cast as a French gypsy, while Jared Harris will be taking on the role of Holmes' nemesis, Professor Moriarty. Stephen Fry on the other hand takes the big brother role as Holmes' older brother, Mycroft, and Rachel McAdams may reprise her role of Irene Adler, Sherlock's love interest in the last film, though that's still subject to change. At this point, production of the sequel is still rolling, and more updates will still be on the way before the film's impending release on December next year. Sherlock Holmes 2 will crack the case in cinemas December 16, 2011!
The Iron Man madness never stops, and I wouldn't have it any other way! First off, a big congratulations to Robert Downey Jr., who won the Golden Globe Award For Best Comedy Performance in his film Sherlock Holmes. Truth be told, I found the film to be a decent and fresh type of adaptation from the mind of director Guy Ritchie, but I think RDJ's performance as Holmes was exceptional, as well as that of Jude Law, who played Sherlock's brother-at-arms, Dr. Watson. Upon receiving the award, Downey gave a speech that's just sums up why he's the man to play Tony Stark. Check it out.

The Invincible Iron Man #22 Written By: Matt Fraction Illustrated By: Salvador Larraca
Tony Stark, aka the Invincible Iron Man, is not out of the woods yet. Even with his comrades by his side and utilizing the combined power of Captain America's shield and Thor's hammer, the once brilliant industrialist remains comatose, unresponsive to the "shock treatment" that he himself formulated beforehand. With all options seemingly exhausted, Donald Blake decides to turn to the one man whose expertise could bring Tony back from the brink - the former sorcerer supreme, Dr. Stephen Strange. However, time is running short for Tony and his friends, as the transparent villain known as the Ghost arrives and prepares to strike the crippled hero at his weakest. Journeying inside the mind of a broken man, can Dr. Strange find Stark, and if he does, is Tony willing to come back?
By all counts, Tony Stark is in worse shit than he has been all his life, and I'm liking the pacing as we're continuing this megatonic and fantastic series by writer Matt Fraction and artist Salvador Larraca. Last issue showed that Tony Stark thinks of everything when the situation gets grim, and he even had a back up plan prepared for his friends to enact should he fall into a state of brain death, which he did during the events of World's Most Wanted. Despite all the careful planning and smarts, however, Tony Stark is still a human being - 50% of the recovery relies on outside and medical assistance, while the remaining percentage relies on his determination and sheer willpower to pull through, and that my friends is the question indeed. Two issues ago, Fraction began a parallel segment that details a parallel segment in Stark's mind, in which the guy is seemingly lost and confused in a desert excavation world full of robot monstrosities and avatars of his parents that represent courage and reason. Tony's fragmented state of mind leads one to consider how a man such as he can possibly get out of this and go back to the way he was. On the real world, Mjolnir's lightning has failed to revive him, placing all hopes on Dr. Strange to pay a visit to Tony's head and help him get "back online". Like I said, the pacing is great, and Fraction's right on his A-game with Iron Man here.
The art also plays an important role in conveying emotion, intensity, and action through all pages of the issue. There would be no consistency is Matt Fraction didn't have Salvador Larraca onboard as artist, and he plays well into delivering those awesome segments that show just how much of an asset he is to the Invincible Iron Man series, especially Star Disassembled. When it comes to human figures, he can draw them pretty well, especially the female characters involved. I find no reason to question Laracca's art, and his armor based drawings go so far as to show great outline and detailing from head to toe. I wouldn't mind seeing these two stick around with the book for some time to come, and they work out pretty mean stories to boot.
At this point, if you haven't come around to reading Invincible Iron Man and Stark: Disassembled, do a little backtracking and pick up the first few books to get a full grasp of the situation before breezing through this issue. It's already proving to be a bestselling title among Marvel's numbers, and with the build up coming to Iron Man 2 in theaters and the Heroic Age in comics, I see no other comic to read if you're looking for all things about ol' shellhead. There are two more issues to go before everything wraps up, and how Tony Stark comes out of this we won't know til the end. All I know is he's getting a brand new armor, and the Iron Man legacy will enter a new stage after all this and Siege is said and done.
Great tidings from Hong Kong! It's technically my last day in this fine and cold weathered city, and so much has happened in the past few days that would make it such a memorable and enjoyable trip for a tourist such as myself. Checking out the sights and hanging out with familiar faces only adds more joy to the experience, and to top things off, I managed to catch one of the year end's most anticipated movies - Sherlock Holmes. The year of 2009 has brought some interesting films into the limelight, but this one takes the cake for its unique blend of comedy, action, and puns from Iron Man star himself, Robert Downey Jr. How did this Guy Ritchie film make an impression on me? Well, find out as I roll along with the review, ladies and gentlemen.
First and foremost, this is NOT your grandaddy's Sherlock Holmes, so eliminate all presumptions and preconceived ideas you have about this movie before actually watching it. The character Robert Downey Jr. portrays is one of brilliance, logic, and insanity. His take on Holmes is one of an eccentric detective who will use his powers of deduction to solve a case and go through it by any means necessary, and that counts for an unorthodox approach. To say that the actor fits the role like a glove is a complete understatement - he was born to play the role, and his catchy English accent adds credit to his portrayal of the legendary English sleuth. His partner and good friend Watson, played the equally talented Jude Law, is a great foil to Holmes' weirdness. Here you have two completely opposite people people who don't have anything in common - save for the thrill of solving crimes and serving London for the betterment of king and country. I always imagined Dr. Watson to be nothing more than a sidekick who follows Holmes' lead at every case, but this movie proves the contrary, and makes the duo a fantastic tag team acting force onscreen. As for the rest of the cast, Rachel McAdams is beautiful as Irene Adler, Holmes' on and off rival and love interest, and Mark Strong convinces the public he's a big bad guy as Lord Darkwood. For those who are looking for Professor Moriarty, he only plays a small role here, and I wouldn't be surprised if a sequel is in the works too. The film was awesome, but may be a tad bit cliche/ typical for an modernized action flick. Regardless, the film is a cross between the action/ comedy of a Mummy/Van Helsing movie and the beginnings of a hero as shown in Casino Royale/ Batman Begins. Definitely a must see if you are a fan of those elements, RDJ, or Guy Ritchie films in general.
