Sony pushes Morbius, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Uncharted, and untitled Spider-Man spinoff to 2021 due ton Corona Virus

It's an unfortunate time for those who were looking forward to some new films in 2020, as concerns over the corona virus pandemic has understandably derailed plans and delayed movies as theaters close to promote "social distancing" and communities go into quarantine/ lockdown to prevent more cases from happening. With several other studios already announcing delays of highly anticipated blockbuster films like "No Time To Die" and "Black Widow", Sony Pictures has joined in to delay the likes of "Morbius", "Ghostbusters: Afterlife", production on the "Uncharted" film as well as the untitled Spider-Man spinoff - sending them all to a 2021 release window as a result.

Sony announces 2020 release dates for Marvel Movies; Possibly Venom sequel and Morbius

Looks like the Marvel films under Sony are turning up the heat quite literally when it comes to moving forward with their Spider-Man spinoff films, as Variety reports that two films have been dated - and could likely be the Morbius film starring Jared Leto and the planned Venom sequel with Tom Hardy returning in the titular role have been given release dates in 2020.

With Venom earning $570 Million worldwide, a sequel to the "Lethal Protector" was inevitable, and Sony is eyeing a film in October 2, 2020 that could likely be "Venom 2" - since Venom opened in theaters this year on the same month. Meanwhile, July 10, 2020's schedule opened up - and that could be for "Morbius" - another Spider-Man villain/ anti-hero that will be getting his own spin-off and has Jared Leto playing the role of The Living Vampire.

Venom: First official look at Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock in new production photo

Set for release at fall next year and acting as the first spin-off of Sony Pictures' new "Spider-Man Film Universe" following their latest Spidey film "Spider-Man: Homecoming", the first official production photo picture from the film has been released in the movie's official Twitter account - and it features actor Tom Hardy's first look as Eddie Brock - who is sporting black hair, tattoos, and is looking like he's brooding about something. The actual plot of the movie is still a mystery, but rumors point to it being inspired by the "Lethal Protector" storyline of the 90's where Venom becomes hunted by mercenaries and is on the path to being a hero... Albeit a very dangerous one.

Venom will be released in theaters on October 3, 2018 in the USA.
