PlayStation 5 will be "Online Only" for launch day

Those looking to migrate to the next generation of PlayStation this month may want to place their orders online if they haven't yet, as Sony has announced via their PlayStation Blog that PS5 launch day orders will be "online only" - meaning the system won't be available for pick up and purchase at stores and retailers when it launches on its respective dates across the world.

Taking the current global pandemic situation into account, Sony is discouraging fans and users from camping out or looking to line up for a PS5 unit when it launches. Those that have already pre-ordered at their respective retailers should be able to do so, but new customers will have to make their purchases online and confirm it from there.

The PlayStation 5 will launch on November 12 in major territories like the US and Japan, with other countries to follow on November 19.

Spider-Man movie sequels and Doctor Strange 2 get pushed back to new dates due to corona virus

Looks like even the heroes of the Marvel Universe need to adjust with the trying times, as Deadline Hollywood has released a report that the two Spider-Man sequels - the untitled third MCU Spider-Man film and "Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse" sequel, have been delayed - as well as "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" - all due to production delays caused by the worldwide corona virus pandemic.

The third film that follows 2017's "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and 2019's "Spider-Man: Far From Home" and will feature Tom Holland's return as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man, has been moved from its July 16, 2021 release date to November 5 of that same year - a date that was once occupied by the Doctor Strange sequel. Instead, "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness", which will feature Benedict Cumberbatch back as Stephen Strange, will now be released on March 25, 2022 instead. Sony and Disney have made the joint decision, and are co-producing and developing the MCU Spider-Man movies together.

On the other hand, Sony's "Into The Spider-Verse" sequel, or ITSV 2, has now been delayed from April 8, 2022 to October 7, 2022. This is understandably to give everyone more time to work around the delays and concerns brought about by COVID-19 - which has affected all of the industries around the world as we know it.

Spider-Man returns to the MCU thanks to new Sony/ Disney deal

In case you didn't hear the news - SPIDEY'S OFFICIALLY BACK IN THE MCU!

As reported by Deadline Hollywood, a new deal has been struck between Sony and Disney/ Marvel in once again bringing the wallcarawler to the same cinematic universe as the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy, where Disney would co-finance 25% of the production of a third Spidey film for a 25% equity stake. This allows Tom Holland to once again swing and continue his role as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man without any sacrifices or omissions to his story thread following the events of this year's "Spider-Man: Far From Home" - where Spidey's world literally turned upside down following his battle and victory over Mysterio. The deal also calls for Spidey to appear in another Marvel film, as well as retaining the creative presence of Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige.

Spider-Man will swing once more with his third solo film on July 16, 2021!

With Venom earning $570 Million worldwide, a sequel to the "Lethal Protector" was inevitable, and Sony is eyeing a film in October 2, 2020 that could likely be "Venom 2" - since Venom opened in theaters this year on the same month. Meanwhile, July 10, 2020's schedule opened up - and that could be for "Morbius" - another Spider-Man villain/ anti-hero that will be getting his own spin-off and has Jared Leto playing the role of The Living Vampire.

According to the report, Leto is cast in the lead role with "Safe House" director Daniel Espinosa helming the project. Rumor: Sony reportedly planning an "Aunt May" spinoff for Spider-Man film franchise

Looks like Peter Parker's favorite lady and mother figure is getting her own film, if rumors are to be believed...

According to a report from Latino-Review, an "Aunt May" film is apparently in the works, featuring May Reilly Parker -  the caring and loving aunt who along with her late husband Ben Parker raises young Peter Parker as surrogate parents following the disappearance and demise of his parents.

It is this loving presence combined with Ben's "Great Power, Great Responsibility" message that instilled Peter with the principles and strength to become a compassionate figure and hero, which is the driving force behind his alter ego as The Amazing Spider-Man.

Spinning out of The Amazing Spider-Man film franchise, the "Aunt May" film will apparently concentrate on the character's younger days, much similar to how Marvel Studios is driving down the post-WWII era with Hayley Atwell playing Steve Rogers/ Captain America's love interest from that period, Agent Peggy Carter in the upcoming "Agent Carter" TV Series. Whether this will involve Sally Field during present day sequences or not is still up in the air, but for more information on the story, visit Cinema Blend and the source post at Latino-Review.

Hopefully, it does not go for this storyline though.

Marvel Movies: Spider-Man film franchise will "Never Ever Ever" leave Sony's hands

With The Amazing Spider-Man 2 currently in production, you'd think that the web-slinger would slowly but surely join his brethren in Marvel Studios once filming was complete. Rumors persisted that Sony Pictures was considering selling the rights back to the House of Ideas and Walt Disney Pictures, thereby setting the wall-crawler alongside his fellow superheroes.

Well, looks like that isn't happening anytime soon, as Ain't It Cool confirmed in a conversation with Sony Pictures Co-Chairman Amy Pascal regarding the rumor. She confirms that Sony will "never ever ever" let the rights to Spidey go away, and why would they? Given Sam Raimi's Spider-Man Trilogy and the Marc Webb reboot in 2012 and it's upcoming sequel next year, that's a money-generating hero for the studio that'll keep them happy as well as viewers themselves. They've done a terrific job with both interpretations thus far, and while The Amazing Spider-Man rebooted things to a slow start, the sequel may pave the way for something greater.

For more information, visit the source post at Ain't It Cool and Bleeding Cool.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters on May 2, 2014.
