Super7 and Hasbro unveil New G.I.Joe Ultimates and ReAction Figures

 

Joining forces to showcase one of the most anticipated collaborations yet, Super7 and Hasbro have officially unveiled their new G.I.Joe Ultimates and REAction Figures - which take inspiration from the classic Sunrise and Marvel Entertainment animated series released by Hasbro in the 80's!

As detailed by Super7, the Ultimates line of figures start things off with Duke, Snake Eyes, a Battle Andriod Trooper, and Cobra Commander, while the ReAction figures feature some familiar troops and characters from the series!

New G.I.Joe Animated Series slated for 2022 release

 

Looks like G.I.Joe fans are going to be getting some good old fashioned "Yo Joe!" and "Cobra!" action come next year, as a new G.I.Joe animated series has been announced and is slated for a 2022 release!

The news comes courtesy of HISSTANK, who attended the Licensing Con Brazil event where Hasbro Brazil announced that Hasbro will be debuting a new animated series based on the iconic 80's action force franchise.

While little details about the show were revealed, a teaser clip was shared showing off how the new series will look like - with fan favorite ninjas Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow fighting some enemies, with new futuristic outfits that are somewhat like or inspired partially by the Classified Series action figures out now in the toy market.

While no release date has been given for the new Joe series, it will have a second season as well that is set to debut in 2023.

Hasbro Pulse reveals "G.I.Joe Retro Series" - the return of the 3.75" figures

G.I.Joe fans are going to get a dose of nostalgia in the coming months ahead, as Hasbro Pulse officially unveiled during their "Fan First Friday" event the "G.I.Joe Retro Series" - aka the return of the 3.75-inch/ 9.5 cm action figures that were the staple size of the popular toy line of the 80's. During their presentation, Hasbro showcased three characters - G.I.Joe's Snake Eyes and COBRA's Storm Shadow and The Baroness, and then two vehicles in the A.W.E Striker and the H.I.S.S tank. Much like the 25th Anniversary line, the figures will be packaged in the classic G.I. Joe packaging (although missing the "A Real American Hero" subline). The figures will be priced at $13.99 each while the vehicles will be $24.99 each, and will be available for pre-order at Walmart.

Hasbro unveils upcoming G.I.Joe helmets and Transformers R.E.D Figures

It looks like Hasbro is opening the doors for a new can of collectible worms for those who loved G.I.Joe: A Real American Hero, Transformers, and everything about the 80's, as the company has released some promotional photos and details for some of their new products scheduled to hit later on this year!

With Hasbro Pulse showcasing some new stuff this Friday 11am EDT at their Facebook page, the interwebz has gotten their first look at the G.I.Joe Snake Eyes and Cobra Commander life sized helmets - which will be available exclusively at Gamestop.

Next up for those who love the Robots in Disguise from Generation 1, Hasbro will be launching a new "Marvel Legends" style of Transformers in the 6" scale called "R.E.D" or "Robot Enhanced Detail" 6" style of action figures. These are non-transformable, and will instead replicate the robot modes of the Transformers as seen in the classic animated series - starting with the two most recognizable characters and leaders - Optimus Prime of the Autobots and Megatron of the Decepticons. Fans of nostalgia and retro cartoon action are in for a real treat during these trying times, as Hasbro has done the deed and uploaded FULL EPISODES of the classic "G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero" TV Series to YouTube! Released in 1983 to compliment the popular toyline as well as the Marvel Comics series, the show followed after Hasbro commissioned Marvel Productions to produce animated commercials promoting the toys.

Following the immense popularity of those ads, a five-part animated mini-series was produced - focusing on the Joes battling their mortal enemies, the terrorist organization known as Cobra, as they raced to find three elements that powered a matter transporting machine known as the M.A.S.S Device. That pilot series would pave the way for more episodes and seasons to come, and the rest as they would say is history.

In a move that's possibly tied to promote the next G.I. Joe movie release on 2013, IDW is going to relaunch their premiere "G.I. Joe" comic book this coming February.

Spotlight: G.I Joe VS Cobra: The Essential Guide

My wanderings today had me procure an unexpected gem. Sure, I've talked about toys, comics, games, and even movies, but there are few instances where I spotlight something as detailed and thick as a coffee table book, and that's what I found right here:



Oh yes, that's right... I've just acquired the Essential guide to the G.I Joe and Cobra universe! This is like one of the holy grails any Joe fan could have and being one myself, this is a rare treat I'm glad to have been able to pick up. Basically, it details the entire history of the franchise, and that's counting both the original comic book series by Joe writer and legend Larry Hama; the ubiquitous action figure toyline by Hasbro; and of course, the classic cartoon television series by Hasbro and Marvel that people like myself remember and were exposed to the most.

Now what can be said about the book? Simple, it details everything from your favorite joe characters all the way to the hordes of evil terrorists associated with the Cobra organization. Everything you wanted to learn and see about people like Duke, Scarlett, Snake-Eyes, and Cobra Commander can be read up in this book, with all of their origin stories and history intact, as well as the powerful vehicles and structures both sides have built to further their own campaigns and agendas. Also added for the hardcore fan's benefit is a detailed report of each episode and issue from the cartoon and comic book respectively, so anyone looking for a particular favorite they could not recall can now conveniently do so without any worries. No doubt, this book has a lot of information to share, accompanied by sweet illustrations and screen captures from the long media history the franchise has collected and enjoyed over the years. I'm sure you'll be saying that you can wiki the information in this day and age, but it's different when you actually own a piece of history, and at least with me and G.I.Joe, there's no exceptions whatsoever.

Without a doubt, this book is the ultimate treat for the G.I.Joe affectionado. If you can find it, I would very much recommend you taking time to browse and read through it. The G.I.Joe franchise has and still continues to make an impact to this very day, and with the recent release of the new live action film and toyline, it's cements its legacy as a staple franchise in the world of pop culture. As the saying goes, "Knowing Is Half The Battle"... and it can really happen with this on your hands.
