New G.I.Joe Animated Series slated for 2022 release

 

Looks like G.I.Joe fans are going to be getting some good old fashioned "Yo Joe!" and "Cobra!" action come next year, as a new G.I.Joe animated series has been announced and is slated for a 2022 release!

The news comes courtesy of HISSTANK, who attended the Licensing Con Brazil event where Hasbro Brazil announced that Hasbro will be debuting a new animated series based on the iconic 80's action force franchise.

While little details about the show were revealed, a teaser clip was shared showing off how the new series will look like - with fan favorite ninjas Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow fighting some enemies, with new futuristic outfits that are somewhat like or inspired partially by the Classified Series action figures out now in the toy market.

While no release date has been given for the new Joe series, it will have a second season as well that is set to debut in 2023.

R.I.P Martin Pasko - comic book and TV writer of shows like Cheers, TMNT, Batman: The Animated Series, and more

The comic book and television world lost a legend recently, as Canadian writer and editor Martin Pasko passed away at the age of 65 - according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter. The news of his passing was posted by his longtime friend and collaborator Alan Brennert - whom he co-founded "Fantazine" with.

Pasko's career has spanned decades, working mostly with DC Comics on Superman titles, as well as stints in Action Comics, Justice League of America, and Saga of the Swamp Thing. He'd also be the co-creator of the mid-1970's revamp of Dr. Fate, and helped revitalize the popularity of Wonder Woman.

In addition to comics, Pasko also had a career in television and animated shows as a writer, contributing to programs like the sitcom Cheers, The Twilight Zone, and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. He also worked in animated shows like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, G.I.Joe, and Batman: The Animated Series. He co-wrote the story for the animated movie of the latter, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm too.

His creative legacy will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace and thank you, Martin Pasko.

ICYMI: Adi Shankar and Netflix announce "Devil May Cry" series

If you haven't heard the news yet, the success of Netflix and Adi Shankar's Castlevania series has sparked and rekindled interest in adapting video games into animated features - so much so that Shankar took to his Facebook page and announced that Capcom's popular "Devil May Cry" series will be getting the Netflix animated series treatment too!

Now in the works and joining Castlevania in what Shankar calls the "Bootleg Universe", Devil May Cry will be the second popular video game series to be adapted, and as the producer said in an interview in IGN - acquired the rights so the "jabronis in Hollywood don't ------ this one up to."

He has a point - Castlevania has garnered universal acclaim, and its second season was just WOW.

Star Wars: Star Wars Rebels Teaser debuts online

A new Star Wars series is coming in 2014, and a short but sweet teaser for fans has made its way online.

Set to premiere on the fall of 2014, Star Wars: Rebels is the newest CGI Animated Series that'll continue the saga anew, and is set to take place in between the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. With the Galactic Empire slowly expanding its reach across the galaxy, the manhunt for the surviving Jedi begins and the birth of a rebellion against tyranny begins.

Green Lantern: The Animated Series cancelled by Cartoon Network

Sad news comes to DC Comics and Green Lantern fans who have tuned in religiously to Cartoon Network's "Green Lantern: The Animated Series", as the network has decided not to pick up the series again for a second season. The news comes directly from a very disappointed Bruce Timm, who created the series and sadly confirmed the news during his time in this year's Emerald City Comiccon, which was reported in Bleeding Cool. The series started in 2011, and despite being in 3D, was aimed to follow in the footsteps and vein of its predecessors such as Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League Unlimited.

Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer

Announced sometime last year and finally coming to fruition, the newest series' incarnation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is almost upon us. With that, Nickelodeon has released a new trailer to promote their upcoming new show based on the 80's Heroes-In-A-Half-Shell franchise. However, does it remain consistent with the original show's roots, or does it take a new spin at things? Find out in the trailer below!

A different take indeed with the interesting CGI animation work and "Booyakasha!" joke. Thankfully  it seems to retain the same formula and basic origins as before, and no Michael Bay treatment to be found here either thank goodness (and that one got shelved recently). First announced by Warner Bros. during the MIP Junior Market Convention last October, Cartoon Network has officially released the first teaser poster and press release for their upcoming new Batman animated series entitled "Beware The Batman". To be rendered in CGI (much like Green Lantern: The Animated Series), the new show will debut sometime in 2013, and will feature Batman fighting crime alongside "ex-secret agent" Alfred and Katana.

Via Comic Book Resources, Marvel TV has released the very first trailer for Disney XD's second season of their popular animated series "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes"! In it we get a series of scenes teasing what's to come, including the return of old foes and the coming of enemies that are far bigger than what one mere hero can face. The real dilemma though is within the ranks of the Avengers themselves, as bigger threats loom over a war between two alien factions... And not everyone is who they seem to be. Earlier this weekend, Nickelodeon released a teaser image of their new and upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, which is set to debut sometime in 2012. The heroes in a half shell are getting another makeover and series... courtesy of the folks at Nickelodeon! Via posts from Slash Film and Topless Robot, we get our first sneak peek image at the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, whose new animated series debuts sometime in 2012!

Yup, from the image alone, it's another CG animated series... but it's looking promising indeed! I grew up loving the 80's Fred Wolf produced series and the video games by Konami, so you can see my enthusiasm for another show that brings the Cowabunga back into action! In fact, the turtles' personalities look more distinguishable from the pic alone, so it's exciting to see how this series will look once a trailer hits the scene!
