Dead Rising 2 was released 10 years ago today

If you were into video games during the middle years of the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360's life cycles, then you've probably heard of Dead Rising 2 - Capcom's big sequel to the 2006 zombie action survival horror title Dead Rising. However instead of controlling the series first star and photojournalist adventurer Frank West and his scoop crusade in Willamette Parkview Mall, we are introduced to Chuck Greene and the world of Fortune City. Five years after the events of the first game, the entertainment and casino styled metropolis houses shows like "Terror Is Reality" where zombies are used as sport and Chuck works as a motocross entertainer to provide a cure for his infected daughter Katey. However a new zombie outbreak occurs that sees him framed for the incident, forcing Chuck to fight his way into solving the case before the military arrives to save the survivors of Fortune City.

Dead Rising 2: Launch Trailer

Fast forward to 2020, and Dead Rising 2 is still a very much playable game that has gotten its own rerelease for the PS4 and Xbox One in 2016 that coincided with the 10th Anniversary of the first game. While we have already seen two sequels after this in Dead Rising 3 and Dead Rising 4 (and even an alternate history version of Dead Rising 2 called "Dead Rising 2: Off The Record" starring Frank West), this game did revitalize the popularity of the series as another IP Capcom can be proud of. It definitely deserves some love and attention to replay if you love making combo weapons and doing a LOT of things in a city infested with zombies.

Video Game Review: Dead Rising 2

Zombie season seems to be in full swing these days, especially with a lot of great stuff popping out of the woodwork that use the undead ghouls as plot material to bake into stories full of blood, carnage, and gore. Thanks to the influence of zombie lore godfathers like the great George A. Romero, you can expect popculture to utilize the "zombie apocalypse" scenario anywhere at any given time, and it could literally explode in your face just as fast as the ghoulish epidemic spreads with just a single bite.

Super Street Fighter IV And Other Capcom Games Delayed!

A Major announcement from Capcom came via Kotaku, as major gaming titles expected to hit in early 2010 were pushed back to meet the company's fiscal year demands. That means games like Super Street Fighter IV, Lost Planet 2, and Dead Rising 2 are delayed to sometime during spring 2010! On the plus side, it gives a little breathing room to gamers, and Capcom won't have to compete with the other Big Guns expected to show up early in the next year like Bayonetta, Heavy Rain, Dante's Inferno, and most of all, Final Fantasy XIII! Looks like the fighters will have to hold their punches for a while, but the fight will surely come next year!
