Remembering 2013!
It's been a long and somewhat unpredictable 2013... And while much of it has brought its fair share of ups and downs, there's no denying that plenty of things in the popculture category that happened and need to be reviewed and listed as per annual tradition!
So before we welcome the big 2014, let's see what happened back in the year before us...

Remembering 2012~!
Time for another year in review post... This time for the year 2012~! It's been a stellar year for movies, comics, games, and yes even music, and there's a lot I'd like to nominate from the circle of great choices that have made this a memorable time for all things popculture.
Now, before we sign off 2012 and get to the picks, here's a Happy New Year greeting to you all!
COMICS: Batman - Death of the Family
Still ongoing at the moment but promising to spiral down into a story Batfans will never forget, Scott Snyder has followed up on his epic "Court of Owls" run of The New 52 Batman series with the return of The Dark Knight's epic nemesis The Joker in a very sinister and gruesome form. Last seen in the pages of last year's relaunch of Detective Comics #1, the Clown Prince of Crime had his face removed and has finally returned... Targeting Batman and his allies in a way that will change them forever when all is said and done. This is sure to be a classic fans will never forget!
MOVIES: The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises
This is a tie, certainly because one ushered in the BIGGEST blockbuster superhero team-up movie ever and the FINAL CHAPTER of Christopher Nolan's epic Dark Knight Trilogy! Both movies took in a lot of Box Office Returns for 2012, but The Avengers clearly stood out on top between the two thanks to the sheer number of heroes gathered in the film.
On the other hand, The Dark Knight Rises also wrapped up the trilogy pretty well... A feat rarely accomplished by most superhero movies. The tale of Bruce Wayne's journey was weaved together well by Nolan and his team, and it will certainly go down as one of the best superhero movie adaptations ever based on realism and detail.
ANIMATED MOVIE: Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part I
Long awaited and highly anticipated an animated adaptation, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part I certainly gave comic book fans who remember Frank Miller's seminal work a good treat of finally seeing an aged Batman returning from a 10 year self-imposed retirement to fight crime once more. It's missing some of the dialogue from the books that made it noteworthy but it's still fun as heck, especially with casting legendary Robocop actor Peter Weller as Bruce Wayne/ Batman! January will see Part II out in the market, and if you get a chance to pick this up in home video, do so.
GAMES: The Walkind Dead: The Game
Nominated as "Game of the Year" at this year's Spike TV Video Game Awards, I only recently played and finished the retail edition of The Walking Dead: The Game, and I can totally see why it earned that award hook, line, and sinker. Telltale games has crafted a compelling tale that tests your choices, your humanity, and how you can survive the zombie apocalypse with a band of other survivors and a little girl under your care. It's worth checking out, and very easy to play at that. In fact, the first episode that makes up this 5 episode season is free for the iOS and Xbox Live Marketplace.
TV SERIES: The Walking Dead - Season 3 and Arrow
Still at its mid-season hiatus, The newest season of The Walking Dead has proven that it has comeback strong and hard in presenting an action-packed drama full of zombies and humanity going head-to-head amidst the apocalypse. Rick Grimes and crew face tougher choices this season, and it's sure to be a memorable ride once it returns this February.
Arrow, the CW's newest superhero show based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, feels a lot like Smallville and Batman Begins meets Lost, with Oliver Queen coming back to his hometown of Starling City and cleaning up crime based on a list his father gave to him. It's also on mid-season break til January, and is chalk full of guest appearances by other DC Characters that make this a good comic book show to check out.
MUSIC: Gangnam Style by PSY
I think it's pretty much self-explanatory why this became the music pick of 2012... PSY has exploded everywhere... A billion hits in YouTube!
And that wraps up what I like about 2012! Happy New Year, and looking forward to 2013!

Batman Arkham City Joker Trailer
In the few weeks left and counting down to its release, Warner Bros. Interactive and Rocksteady Studios have released a new trailer to their upcoming new Batman game, "Batman Arkham City", spotlighting none other than the Clown Prince of Crime himself, The Joker! Last time we saw him 2009's Batman Arkham Asylum, The Dark Knight beat his greatest enemy down, and due to ingesting large amounts of the plant-venom hybrid drug Titan, Mr. J has now become a sickly and wounded shadow of his former self... Or has he? Check the trailer just to see whether he's sidelined and being taken care of Harley Quinn... or is he holding something under his sleeve that's even more dangerous than all the other thugs in Arkham City combined?
Well, looks like you can't keep a good clown down after all. Batman Arkham City arrives for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC on October 18!

Game of Thrones director may land "Thor 2", plus some RPG fun by College Humor.
If you enjoyed Game of Thrones like I did when it was running its first season on HBO, then do expect wonderful things to happen next year when the Second Season premieres on April. Before that, a couple of updates took to my eye concerning the subject and its creatives, and these bits of news perked my interest enough that they deserved some reposting.
As reported on Slash Film, it appears Marvel Studios is in talks with Game of Thrones TV series helmer Brian Kirk to direct "Thor 2". After Kenneth Branagh confirmed that he wouldn't be returning for the sequel, this sounds like awesome news, and given Kirk's work on GoT, I think Marvel may have something wonderful at hand if they land a deal with this guy. More info on the story can be found at the source post at Slash Film.
This is what happens when you turn a brilliant medieval fantasy series by George R.R. Martin into a TV Series... THEN an RPG like College Humor did. Priceless.XD

Happy 20th Birthday, Sonic The Hedgehog!
Yes my friends, Sega's very own Sonic The Hedgehog turns the big 20 already, and throughout the ups and downs of his career in gaming, I'm glad the character has endured and provided a legacy for gamers old and new to experience and appreciate. With a new title called "Sonic: Generations" due to be released soon to commemorate the blue hero's two decade history, I can only hope it succeeds and put the hedgehog back in the spotlight. Cheers to you Sonic!

E3 Update: The Playstation Vita Revealed
With the Sony E3 Press Conference wrapped up and lots of announcements made (including a 3D TV and more games to look forward to), the once named PSP2/ NGP has finally been given an official name - The Playstation Vita! Sure, it may take some time getting used to the new name that sounds like a mineral water product or a past Microsoft product, but it's even stellar to know that this baby packs a punch in graphics and has touch screen capabilities! What's more, it'll cost $300 dollars for the 3G unit, and $250 for the wifi only unit upon release! More details can be read on Kotaku, but you can expect Vita, which means "life", to hit the global market come fall this year. Check out the official E3 trailer below, courtesy of Sony!

E3 Update: Check out "Journey"...
Via Kotaku, I was treated to this visually stunning clip of "Journey", an upcoming game developed by Thatgamecompany that's due to hit the PS3. Spectacularly beautiful to behold.
Journey E3 Clip
I get a feeling of Prince of Persia/ ICO meets Okami meets SSX. I think I like it.
Rumor: The NGP official name is PSVITA?
E3 is underway, and even before Sony gets on with their Press Conference for the show, a lot of rumors are flying in the interwebz already. One such rumor is the official name for their Next Generation Portable system (The NGP, or formerly known as the PSP2). According to a post from Kotaku and via NeoGaf, Sony has trademarked the name "PSVITA" with the Trademarks and Designs Registation Office of the Europen Union as of June 6. It has yet to be unveiled, but the logo image has spilled online and you can see it above, making it most likely that this is THE new name for Sony's new portable gaming system. More updates will come of course when the Sony E3 Press Con comes, so for more on this rumor story, visit Kotaku and NeoGaf.

Ezio Auditore returns again in Assassin's Creed: Revelations!
Finally, after days of teasing and speculation, the next Assassin's Creed game's details have been revealed, and gamers will once again assume control and finish the tale of one Ezio Auditore!
Via a post in Kotaku, Ubisoft officially reveals what their next game, Assassin's Creed Revelations, is all about. Picking up where Brotherhood left off, an older Ezio travels to Constantinople in a journey of self-discovery and revelation, taking on the Templar order based on that region who have sinister plans up their sleeves. It's also a safe bet that we'll be seeing his descendant Desmond Miles return, as the last game presented a cliffhanger ending that should definitely be resolved in this one once and for all. Multiplayer will also be making a return with new modes and characters to use, so this should bring a nice end to the Ezio Auditore trilogy of the Assassin Creed series! For more info, check out the source post at Kotaku!
Assassin's Creed: Revelations is expected to hit the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows PC this November!

The Confined does awesome Silent Hill goodness!
After navigating through my usual web searches, I found this awesome little Silent Hill tribute made by fans of the dreaded survival horror franchise created by Konami! Called "The Confined". With the terrifying creatures created by Nathan A. Quattrini and featured in Kotaku, the three minute clip is something truly worth beholding for fans of the cursed and haunted town that's plagued 7 games and a live action film so far, with an 8th installment and second flick already in the works to scare more people out of their wits with their own worst fears manifesting themselves into dark caricatures that'll eat them alive! Check this 3 minute clip of this wonderful fan film below, directed by Leo Kei Angelos (who also did a fan film for Dragon Age), with the full thing slated for a release this fall!
