The Walking Dead: AMC officially greenlights Season 4

Wrapping up the first half of Season 3 early this month and returning next year on February 10, AMC has officially confirmed that their popular zombie drama series "The Walking Dead" will be getting yet another season, which will mean more adaptations and new plot threads based on the comic book series penned by Robert Kirkman!

The Walking Dead: Seasons 1 and 2 get the B/W treatment

Fans of The Walking Dead who are itching to see more of the zombie survival horror drama series are in for a treat. In an effort to garner new interest and harken back to the days of old school horror flicks, AMC will be re-releasing the entire first season and part of the second season in complete "Black and White" format. This was first attempted with the pilot episode "Days Gone Bye", where former Walking Dead showrunner and legendary director Frank Darabont brought on the idea for a complete "B/W transition" ala George A. Romero's "Night of the Living Dead" - a film that greatly inspired the zombie genre as we know it today.

The Walking Dead Season 3 gets 16 episodes!

Announced by AMC at the Television Critics Association (TCA) last Saturday, and posted in several sites like Comic Book Movie and Superherohype, AMC's third season of their popular survival horror series The Walking Dead will be getting 16 episodes! In addition to revealing a new promo poster that reminds viewers that the 13 episode strong Season 2 will resume with Episode 8 on February 12, the channel has also stated that their international broadcast partner, Fox International Channels, will be following the 16 episode order for Season 3.

The Walking Dead Season 2 gets 90 Minute Pilot and Split Season

Following the departure of former showrunner and legendary director Frank Darabont, it appears that more changes have been given to the upcoming second season of AMC's "The Walking Dead". The network has announced in a press release that it will expand its premiere episode, slated for an October 16th debut, to 90-minutes, echoing the length time of the pilot for the very first season last year.

Thing is, Season 2 is now cut in half, with episodes one through seven airing through October and November. A brief hiatus will commence from December to January, and the next half of the season will pick up starting February 12th with episode eight until thirteen.

Frank Darabont steps down as showrunner for The Walking Dead

Via Deadline, Slash Film, and Enewsi, Frank Darabont, the executive producer, director, and creator of AMC's TV Adaptation of Robert Kirkman's "The Walking Dead", is stepping down and giving up his position as showrunner of the series. Having just appeared at the show's panel presentation at this past weekend's San Diego Comic-Con, this comes as big and surprising news to fans, since Darabont was the lead figure responsible for tackling and directing creative duties in the first season. With the second season slated to debut on October 16, his departure will not affect the schedule, but it may promote his number 2 man, Glen Mazzara of "The Shield" fame, to the top man position. How this will affect the future of the show remains to be seen, but it's sad to see a well known creative face taking a back seat at the cusp of what is already considered a great TV series. Finally making its way online after being shown at AMC's official Walking Dead panel at the San Diego Comic Con, here's the four minute plus trailer to the hotly anticipated second season of Frank Darabont's TV Series adaptation of Robert Kirkman's "The Walking Dead"! If you're a fan of the show, it picks up right after the finale of the last season, showing Rick Grimes and his fellow group of survivors back on the road and desperately trying to survive day-by-day from the living dead. SPOILERS are evidently present if you have no idea what this series is about, so I recommend not viewing this primer to Season 2 if you haven't watched or read anything Walking Dead related. Couldn't get enough of AMC's The Walking Dead? Neither could I and the rest of the fans around the world after only 6 episodes, and it will be a long agonizing wait until the 13 episode filled Season 2 shows up. AMC's The Walking Dead is a success story in itself, and I'm glad to bear witness to it. If there's anything to be said about the past five weeks since the show's premiere, it's been one heck of a zombie apocalypse ride the viewers around the world have tuned and engrossed themselves into.

Based on the comic book series of the same name created by Robert Kirkman, The Walking Dead tells the story of a former small town sheriff's deputy named Rick Grimes, who gets shot in the line of duty and wakes up from a coma, only to be thrust into a world populated by the living dead. As he searches and eventually reunites with his family, Rick also comes across several other survivors, who also try to cope with the devastating changes wrought upon them by the zombie apocalypse. Soon, it becomes apparent that their enemy isn't just the dead, but also what remains of humanity as well.
