ICYMI: The Punisher and Jessica Jones are officially cancelled in Netflix

It was an inevitability following the cancellation of the other Marvel Netflix shows, but after a month since the debut of The Punisher Season 2, Marvel and Netflix have officially announced that "The Punisher" and "Jessica Jones" have officially been cancelled. The final nail in the coffin of the end of the partnership between the streaming service giant and Disney came as these were the final two shows to still hold on and not get cancellation notices - but that all changed and was reported by Deadline along with the official statement addressing the non-renewals of the shows by Marvel themselves.

It was a good run, Frank and Jessica. Hopefully we'll see you again along with Matt Murdock/ Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Danny Rand/ Iron Fist when Disney's streaming service comes up and hopefully brings you guys back.

"Ghost Rider" and "Blade" join "Daredevil" and "The Punisher" back at Marvel Studios

Looks like the "Midnight Sons" are coming back home to Marvel... And join the other "Marvel Knights" in Marvel Studios!

Much like Daredevil and The Punisher now under the control of Marvel Studios after the character's film rights expired in 20th Century Fox and Sony Pictures/ Lionsgate respectively, two more characters can now be added to the list as returning to their home owner and developer - Ghost Rider and Blade.
Those who remember Nicholas Cage's time as the "Spirit of Vengeance" in two movies released by Sony will probably feel redeemed somehow now that the rights to produce a film to the character have returned to Marvel from Sony. New Line Cinema's rights on Blade, famously played by Wesley Snipes in three movies, has also returned to Marvel, and one has to wonder how the Daywalker and Vampire Hunter will fit into the scheme of things now that he's reset back to Marvel's control.

*Update Info:
Ghost Rider's rights reverting back to Marvel were announced in this month's issue of Entertainment Weekly. Blade reverted back in 2011 to Marvel Studios when Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada made the announcement in SDCC '11. Punisher reverted back in 2010, with the call made by Kevin Feige.

Daredevil of course, reverted back officially last April 23, 2013.

Having these characters back does beg the question how they'll be interpreted in the big screen again since most of them , particularly Ghost Rider, The Punisher, and Blade, have pretty dark tales and violence attached to their characters. Since Disney owns Marvel, we'll find out just how things will work, and if they earn a spot in "Phase 3" of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the near future. SDCC '12: "Dirty Laundry" fan film sees Thomas Jane return as The Punisher!

As the last leg of news from the San Diego Comic-Con finally settled in, so did a surprise fan film presented by none other than Thomas Jane, who portrayed Frank Castle in the 2004 film adaptation of The Punisher. That film was great, and while Jane didn't reprise the role for 2010's Punisher: War Zone, he did so in this short little fan film which debuted in SDCC 2012! Take a look at "Dirty Laundry"!

Yup, Jane's back as Frank here, with fellow actor Ron Perlman joining him! Good to see him back as The Punisher, and I hope he gets another shot playing the role!
