Batman: Black & White Showcase video & Play Arts Kai Arkham City Joker & 70's Batman revealed

Batman.

Batman is everywhere.

No matter what form, shape, or era you've known the character, DC Comics' own Caped Crusader and Dark Knight has endured throughout the years, and has come to be respected well beyond the pages of the comics he appears in.

That being said, there's a couple of goodies to be looking forward to, especially in the toy and collectibles department.

Batman Arkham City Update: Nightwing is coming to the game as DLC!

Take this with a grain of salt of however you'd pluck out news in the internet, but via a scoop at Comic Book Movie, it looks like we may now have a fourth playable character coming to Warner Bros. Interactive and Rocksteady Studios' Batman: Arkham City, and it's none other than the first Robin and ward of Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson aka Nightwing!

Word of Nightwing's appearance in the sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum was speculated for some time now (and hoped by big Batfans). In website PSTrophies, the trophy list to Batman Arkham City was updated, and featured in it were specific trophies dedicated to the orphaned circus acrobat and protege of Batman. This means that like the other DLC character Tim Drake/ Robin, Dick Grayson/ Nightwing will be playable as an extra character outside of the main campaign mode, which allows players to control Batman and Catwoman in the main story.

Nightwing has yet to be officially confirmed, but there's a strong possibility now that word like this is out. You can check more on the scoop from the source posts at CBM and PSTrophies for details.

Batman Arkham City Joker Trailer

In the few weeks left and counting down to its release, Warner Bros. Interactive and Rocksteady Studios have released a new trailer to their upcoming new Batman game, "Batman Arkham City", spotlighting none other than the Clown Prince of Crime himself, The Joker! Last time we saw him 2009's Batman Arkham Asylum, The Dark Knight beat his greatest enemy down, and due to ingesting large amounts of the plant-venom hybrid drug Titan, Mr. J has now become a sickly and wounded shadow of his former self... Or has he? Check the trailer just to see whether he's sidelined and being taken care of Harley Quinn... or is he holding something under his sleeve that's even more dangerous than all the other thugs in Arkham City combined?

Well, looks like you can't keep a good clown down after all. Batman Arkham City arrives for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC on October 18!

Batman Arkham City Update: The Cool and Cruel Mr. Freeze!

With just 2 months to go before it makes its release on consoles worldwide, Batman: Arkham City steadily builds up the hype again by introducing another trailer for the game that spotlights a certain "cool villain" that remains a classic rogue in the Batman mythos. I'm talking about none other than Dr. Victor Fries himself... aka Mr. Freeze, and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Rocksteady Studios have dropped the ice this week by releasing a new video with him set to appear in Arkham City!

And so the good doctor of chill is in this time around. On the last game (Batman: Arkham Asylum), he was among the many denizens of the crazy house still trapped in their cell. Now Batman will have to use all of his wits and gadgets just to face him in the sequel!

Batman: Arkham City is slated for release on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on October 18!

Via Superherohype, MSN and Warner Bros. have released the latest trailer for the next Batman video game by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Rocksteady Studios, Batman: Arkham City, which highlights one of the Dark Knight's deadliest and most persistent foes... The Riddler. Yes, ol' Edward Nygma is back to make the Caped Crusader's like even more interesting by providing new challenges and clues for him to find like in the previous game "Batman: Arkham Asylum", and this new trailer should give gamers a glimpse on what's in store for the sequel!

Batman Arkham City Update: Meet Tim Drake... aka Robin!

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Rocksteady Studios have revealed a third playable character for their upcoming Batman videogame sequel "Batman: Arkham City", and it's none other than the Dark Knight's partner - Robin! Specifically, it's Tim Drake - the third person to take on the mantle and identity of the Boy Wonder, and he comes equipped with his trademark bo staff which he made his signature weapon when the character debuted in comics in the late 80's. Via Newsarama, here's a look at Robin as he appears in Arkham City:

Honestly, he looks more like Chris O'Donnell's Dick Grayson/ Robin from "Batman Forever", or heck even rapper/ singer Eminem than Tim Drake here. Anyway, he'll be appearing like this in Arkham City, as a third playable character in the game's challenge mode. The character will specifically be made available via Best Buy's "Tim Drake Robin" challenge pack when you pre-order the game from them. Also included are two challenge map levels - "Black Mask Hideout" and "Freight Train Escape". Additionally, players will also have the option to switch Tim's look to his current identity of "Red Robin" via an additional skin. For more info, check out the source post at Newsarama!

Batman Arkham City Update: Catwoman E3 Gameplay Trailer!

With this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo just around the corner, it would only be right for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, DC Comics, and Rocksteady Studios to release a new trailer promoting their much anticipated Batman: Arkham Asylum sequel - Batman: Arkham City. While this trailer does set up what threats The Dark Knight is facing next (including more thugs and Two-Face), it also shows off who'll he be paired up with: Gotham City's own feline vigalante, Catwoman!

Batman: Arkham City Update: Riddler revealed as a top baddie!

Another somewhat big update has arrived for Batman: Arkham City, in the form of the revelation of another "big cheese" who returns from the previous game and is pulling the strings of our dear Caped Crusader, and it's none other than the master of riddles himself, Edward Nygma, aka The Riddler!

Via a post in Kotaku, it seems that Mr. Nygma will not only return to plague Batman with puzzles and riddles which he must solve, but he'll also be manipulating the Dark Knight in a manner similar to the Scarecrow, who by inducing Bats with his fear-toxin transported the hero to "nightmare worlds" that gave him more than just a simple trap to overcome. If the reports about the demo prove to be true, then the Riddler may just provide a greater challenge to Batman that's in the level of Dr. Jonathan Crane's alter ego. Given how interesting and irritating Mr. Nygma and his puzzles were in Batman: Arkham Asylum, I'll brace myself for the worst The Riddler has to offer in Arkham City. We'll just have to wait and see how his role gets expanded once the game comes out this October! For more info and additional reading on this, visit the source post at Kotaku!

DC announces Batman: Arkham City Tie-In!

DC Comics has dropped quite the bombshell announcement on their blog The Source, as they have announced a new miniseries starring Batman that ties directly to one of their upcoming games of this year, Batman: Arkham City! This six issue comic book series that shares the same name as the hotly anticipated game will be penned by Batman: the Animated Series scribe Paul Dini, and will bridge the gap between its prequel, the 2009 smash hit Batman: Arkham Asylum, and Arkham City itself. Taking place one year after the events of the first game, former Arkham warden turned Gotham City mayor Quincy Sharp closes down the institution, and in its place puts up a new facility in the heart of Gotham called "Arkham City". Inmates are free to do as they please within the fortified walls of this new Arkham as long as they don't attempt escape, and appointed by Sharp to run the madhouse is none other than Dr. Hugo Strange, a man who knows Batman's secret identity.

Set to be released and available in both print and digital formats this May, Arkham City is a story no Batman comic or video game fan would want to miss. Also announced is a series of "8-paged digital firsts", interludes that will alternate with the main issue released digitally, which will expand the story and give fans a look at the inmates who try to wrestle each other for power over Arkham City! For more info on the prices and details on the miniseries, visit DC's official blog The Source!

It's no "I Believe In Harvey Dent" poster, but he'll certainly make you pay attention... or else!

Video Game blogsite Kotaku has posted this awesome "We Want You" image of Harvey "Two-Face" Dent doing the Uncle Sam and addressing criminals to join his cause... with a 50/50 chance to survive under him of course. Interactive Entertainment and Rocksteady Studios to promote their next Batman game, Batman: Arkham City, which is due on the third quarter of this year. The sequel to 2009's Batman: Arkham Asylum places The Dark Knight right back in the chaos of a new madhouse located in the heart of Gotham City, aptly named "Arkham City". Two-Face figures as one of the main antagonists Batman must stop before he publicly executes the Caped Crusader's on-and-off again love interest, Catwoman.
