Marvel unveils its Big Watcher Murder-Mystery Event of 2014 with "Original Sin"

Looks like one of Marvel's seemingly immortal figures will buy the big one this 2014... And it's up to the entire Marvel Universe to find out who killed him!

Via Marvel.com and USA Today, the new big event will be called "Original Sin", and deals with the death of a being known to many as "The Watcher". Written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by Mike Deodato Jr., this miniseries will see cosmic being and observer of realities known as Uatu The Watcher murdered on his home planet of the Moon, leading to Earth's heroes to find out who killed him and why. Led by none other than the original Nick Fury of Earth-616, heroes like Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and Wolverine search for the murderer, while a separate group consisting of The Punisher, Dr. Strange, Emma Frost, Black Panther, and Ant-Man. Tie-ins and supplementary issues are expected to begin alongside the core miniseries this coming May, but a "zero issue" featuring Nova and a re-introduction to Uatu will be released on April, written by Mark Waid and art by Jim Cheung.

With Uatu's death coming up, this will spell big ramifications on the Marvel Universe as we know it. After Infinity and Inhumanity, it's now a mystery that's itching to be solved and may lead to something even bigger down the line in the months ahead. Spider-Man: Marvel teases new "Spider-Man: Family Business" graphic novel for Spring 2014

Looks like there's a lot of new stuff going on for our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, and Marvel has a new book coming up next year that fans of the webslinger will want to take note of!

Coming later this year as part of Marvel's new line of original graphic novels, a new Spider-Man graphic novel from the writing talents of Mark Waid and James Robinson and the artistic flavor of Gabriele Dell'otto will see Spidey take on the Kingpin... As well as finding out he has a long lost sister! Entitled "Spider-Man: Family Business", the new story will see Peter Parker and his alter ego take on the underworld criminal boss on a global scale, and discover some secrets surrounding his parents' deaths and that he has a sibling named Teresa Parker!

Justice League: Doom Canadian Cover Art revealed!

Via Comic Book Movie, DC Nation has released the Canadian cover art to their next DC Universe Animated Original Movies feature, Justice League: Doom. The film, which is loosely based on the classic Mark Waid JLA story "Tower of Babel", sees Batman's secret files of every member on the Justice League stolen, and thus is summarily exploited to render his allies helpless. The Canadian cover art alone foreshadows this indirect betrayal of The Dark Knight to his teammates, with Batman fron and center, holding a batarang that bears a reflection of Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Superman, and Cyborg.

Featuring the voices of Tim Daly, Kevin Conroy, Susan Eisenberg, Michael Rosenbaum, Nathon Fillion, Carl Lumbly, and Bumper Robinson as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash (Barry Allen instead of Wally West), Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Martian Manhunter, and Cyborg respectively, Justice League: Doom looks to be an exciting tale not to be missed by DC fans out there. DC The New 52: The Superman "GD" Controversy

Honestly, I don't see what the fuss is about either with this one, but it's definitely making the rounds, and it happened "faster than a speeding bullet" as soon as the issue hit stands this week.

In the newly relaunched Action Comics #1 penned by Grant Morrison and illustrated by Rags Morales, Superman utters the words "GD" when he takes a hit from a tank missile. That was enough to send a retailer over at North Carolina, The Comic Conspiracy, on a campaign to boycott the issue, pulling it from his store. The story and reason behind this were reported in site Bleeding Cool, and here's the accompanying pic from the article.

For those who want to know the score, "GD" is a spelling of "God"that some Jews use (actually spelled "G-d"). This is where the controversy stems from, and some mixed reactions as of the story have come to light because of it. The NC retailer later on issued a formal apology to Morrison for his angry reactions to the Scottish writer which ran in this story in BC, and the retailer finally got his answer from the writer himself, explaining the meaning behind the word. As how most people (myself included) know and have come to accept after reading the issue, the caption was supposed to emphasize a "grunt" like "UUMPH" or "DHH". DC's official blog The Source also published the story along with Morrison's answer to the supposed controversy. It looked like things could be put to rest from that point forward, but something new related to "GD" popped up just recently, courtesy of writer Mark Waid and his Twitter.
