Meet the New Invincible Iron Man - Riri Williams

When Marvel relaunches things (again) with Marvel NOW! later this year, Tony Stark will be stepping out of his familiar armored identity as the "Invincible Iron Man" and a new character will be taking his place - an MIT student and 15 year old African American girl named Riri Williams.

Created by "Invincible Iron Man" writer Brian Michael Bendis, Riri is the latest diversity character to step up in the game and be added as the new "hero in the block" to assume the identity of a prominent superhero. Bendis also created Miles Morales - the other Spider-Man who came from the Ultimate Universe, and currently Sam Wilson serves as "Captain America" alongside Steve Rogers. There's plenty of stories to tell in the Marvel Universe, and the House of Ideas is taking the big step forward. For more on the story - read TIME's scoop on their website.

Catch Riri Williams as Iron Man when she debuts this fall 2016.

Marvel: Armor Wars 2015 teased

Add another teaser (via Newsarama) to that growing list of teasers Marvel has for their "Big Event/s" in 2015. This time, it revisits a famous storyline from Iron Man's career in the late 1980's, and dares to name itself the new "Armor Wars" with all of the past incarnations of the armored avenger in one epic looking poster featuring an agonized looking Tony Stark right in the middle of things.

Now what does this all mean... Again, that's the big question.

Marvel teases "Years of Future Past" for 2015

And now we can add another tease to Marvel's BIG PLANS for 2015... And it's a revisit and rewording to a classic X-Men centered storyline and will feature the House of Ideas' merry band of mutants as the focus!

Shown in CBR and Newsarama as the latest tease in a round of posters that saw revisits to classic storylines, "Years of Future Past" sees the X-Men groups of yesteryear on the spotlight, with the classic line-up from the 70's and 80's to even Kitty Pryde in her "Kat Pryde" persona and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. If this is tieing in to the big "Marvel Super Heroes: Secret Wars" event that was announced in NYCC this year... It's going to be BIG for Marvel no doubt about it.

Stay tuned for more news as it follows.

Marvel teases "Civil War" and "Age of Ultron/ Marvel Zombies" crossovers for 2015

After announcing to the world in this past weekend's New York Comic Con that they were going to bring a new "Marvel Super Heroes: Secret Wars" crossover event in May 2015, Marvel is further upping the ante by teasing even MORE events that revisit past ones and may further establish that something big is going to go down next year, where Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters and more of the Marvel Universe's landscape changes drastically.

The teaser seen on top (via Superherohype) of course is revisiting the classic 2006-2007 comic book event called "Civil War", which was written by Mark Millar and illustrated by Steve McNiven. The event saw a "Superhero Registration Act" enacted that divided the hero community and saw Iron Man champion the pro-registration team while Captain America rebelled and fought with the anti-registration side. Spider-Man was caught in the middle, and initially sided with Iron Man until tragic events made him defect to Cap's side. Unfortunately he revealed his secret identity to the world, and lots of changes were done to the Marvel Universe when all was said and done.

How this 2015 teaser speaks about revisiting a classic, we'll just have to wait and see.

On the flip side, Marvel also released a teaser image of a "Age of Ultron/ Marvel Zombies" crossover (via CBR).

What does it all mean? Again, we will find out soon enough from the House of Ideas themselves.

Marvel officially confirms Peter Parker's return in relaunched "The Amazing Spider-Man" series for Marvel NOW!

Well NOW it's pretty much official... Peter Parker is INDEED coming back this April in a new "The Amazing Spider-Man" ongoing, and following the leaked cover of a Marvel NOW! Previews issue for March-April earlier this week, the House of Ideas has officially announced via word from The New York Daily News that the one and only webslinger is returning this April for a brand new relaunched series, with Pete back in control of his body.

But the lingering questions are how did he return? And what happens to Doctor Octopus' reign as The Superior Spider-Man? Those legitimate concerns coming from the comic book world were addressed by none other than Spidey writer Dan Slott himself, who's going to pen the new ongoing and team up with fellow Spider-Man comic veteran and artist, Humberto Ramos.

Via Marvel.com, The New York Daily News and Comic Book Resources, Slott was interviewed and reflected on the fact that Peter was, for all intense and purposes "dead" during Ock's run as Spidey. He acknowledges that the big game changer he implemented a year ago was challenging.

"To do that for a solid year of my life, that’s the hardest thing I’ve had to do -- to look small children in the eye at a convention and lie to them. One of them with an honest-to-God Little League uniform and a quivering lip. Inside, part of me was dying.”

And despite the "Superior" change, now it's on the mill that Pete's comeback is inevitable, and it's not purely coincidental that it happens to fall around the same time that Marc Webb's Spider-Man film sequel, "The Amazing Spider-Man 2", comes out in theaters this coming May.

"We did it this way because no one was expecting it. Everyone out there assumed we'd have a big reveal later. People thought we'd bring Peter back in a year's time -- or right before the next Spider-Man movie," Slott said of the ghostly Peter Parker shortly after the debut of "Superior Spider-Man" #1. "Everyone was so savvy with how this all works that I thought the best way to keep people off their game was to just put that card on the table right from the get go. You're all so sure it was coming -- Well? Here it is! But if you think that's all there is, get ready to be wrong."

So there you have it... Peter Parker is returning... But will it be something expected? We'll find out in the coming months ahead as we count down to the "end" of Superior Spider-Man... And The RETURN of The Amazing Spider-Man!

As writer Dan Slott and artist Humberto Ramos confirm that Peter Parker IS Spider-Man again with the relaunching of "The Amazing Spider-Man" series in Marvel NOW!

As you see above, Pete's coming back, and one has to wonder how Otto Octavius and "The Superior Spider-Man" will end after the pivotal storyline "Goblin Nation". We can only wonder. For more on the story and the revealing image of Peter's return above, visit the source post at Comic Book.com.

C2E2 2013: Superior Spider-Man meets Spider-Man 2099 on issue #17

It's been a bold new era this year for fans of Spider-Man keeping up with the comics. Not only is there a "new guy" behind the mask, but the status quo has definitely changed in the comics for our friendly neighborhood webslinger.

Many already know what those changes are, and it's Otto "Doc Ock" Octavius successfully swapping brains with Peter Parker/ Spider-Man on the last few issues of Amazing Spider-Man and becoming the "Superior Spider-Man", taking over Peter's life and trying to be a hero in his own right (albeit with difficulty). The ride has been good so far... But writer Dan Slott promises a new "game changer" that will have fans clamoring anew and worse than in "The Amazing Spider-Man #700" when Peter "passed on". Come Superior Spider-Man #9 coming out this May 1st, It's Doc Ock vs Peter Parker in their shared mind, with an outcome we have yet to discover...

Still, that's not the big news. Rather, it's Marvel announcing during their C2E2 panel that Miguel O'Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099, making an appearance and meeting the Superior Spider-Man come issue #17! What can we expect from the future webhead meeting the present Spidey? We'll find out soon enough!

Superior Spider-Man: May Spidey Solicitations reveal the end of Superior Spider-Man?

Since the end of the "Amazing era" last December 2012 and the subsequent debut of a new kind of Spider-Man come January 2013, Marvel has left fans divided over the fate of Peter Parker and his alter ego with "Superior Spider-Man". Despite the change in the status quo, it's been a terrific run by Dan Slott, and his gamble has certainly paid off in terms of telling a wealth of interesting stories. I've picked up the first three issues (with issue #3 arriving this month), and the action and drama from the changes isn't showing any signs stopping anytime soon... Until now that is.

Jumping a few months ahead, Marvel and Comic Book Resources have released a preview of the May solicitations for Spider-Man related titles, and it teases what may be the end of Superior Spidey as we know him now... And the return of a very familiar to boot! If you don't know what's actually happening in the pages of the new ongoing series, it's SPOILERIFIC territory from here on out.

SPOILERS AHEAD, So look ahead at your own risk!

Marvel announces Thanos Rising

As part of their rising Marvel NOW! initiative, Marvel is bringing back the Mad Titan himself... Thanos, in a new series called "Thanos Rising" that explores what remained a mystery for so long... His origins.

In a new limited series to be helmed by the creative team of Jason Aaron and Simone Bianchi, Thanos Rising explores the tale before the villain came to be who he was... A power hungry catalyst of destruction who was heavily featured in the now classic "The Infinity Gauntlet" saga and it's succeeding crossovers, "The Infinity War" and "The Infinity Crusade". Thanos also made a cameo appearance in a mid-post credits scene of 2012's blockbuster superhero flick The Avengers, where he was revealed to be the benefactor of both Loki and the alien race known as the Chutari.
