Batman: The Long Halloween reported to be next DC Universe Original Movie project

Those who have been enjoying DC Entertainment's highly successful "DC Universe Original Movie" line-up of animated films may be getting one of the most critically acclaimed graphic novel adaptations very soon, as a two-part animated movie adaptation of Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale's "Batman: The Long Halloween".

According to a report by Revenge of the Fans, the 1996 graphic novel series that follows Batman's alliance with Jim Gordon and Harvey Dent - all while facing the criminal underworld while seeing the rise of the first supervillains and the murders orchestrated by the mysterious serial killer known only as "Holiday" - who attacks major players and criminals on key holidays like Halloween and New Year's Eve.

No release date or other details have been released on the possible "Batman: The Long Halloween" adaptation, but expect "Batman Hush" to hit this year in time for Batman's 80th Anniversary.

25 YEARS... That's a long time coming since Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski collaborated together to create one of the most faithful and influential shows to ever present DC Comics' iconic Dark Knight vigilante to the small screen. Yes folks, the 1992 original "Batman The Animated Series" is now 25 years old, and along with that baggage comes a lot of classic moments, iconic portrayals, and memorable episodes and firsts for a TV Series that gave us a pretty awesome cartoon Batman - one who was voiced by the ever talented Kevin Conroy who has earned the title of being the one and only "Voice of Batman".

While the show is known for a lot of great stories and depictions of Batman's life and rogues' gallery, BTAS also introduced a lot of firsts - including the creation of The Joker's on-and-off girlfriend and iconic villainess Harley Quinn - aka Dr. Harleen Quinzel. She would spin-off the show to become her own prominent presence in the pages of DC Comics, and eventually be featured in live action as well through 2016's DC Extended Universe film "Suicide Squad". What's more Star Wars' star Mark Hamill signed on to voice the Clown Prince of Crime himself in The Joker - a role originally considered for Tim Curry but went to the Luke Skywalker actor instead.

While it certainly is all kinds of special, and influenced also by Tim Burton's Batman films (with star Michael Keaton celebrating his 66th Birthday today), BTAS is nothing short of groundbreaking and amazing... And will forever be a timeless piece of Batman lore that fans deserve and have gotten. Happy Anniversary!

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight preview released

Set to be released sometime next year, Warner Bros. and the folks from DC Entertainment have released a "First Look" at the next Batman animated film coming out soon - an adaptation of the Elseworlds storyline "Batman: Gotham by Gaslight".

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm will be coming to Blu-Ray

One of the most beloved Batman animated movies is FINALLY coming to Blu-Ray, as Superherohype reports that Warner Archive has announced that "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm" will be released in 1080p HD Remaster format this July. Those that remember this 1993 animated movie classic know that it is the first film featurette to spin off the highly successful "Batman: The Animated Series" continuity - and features Kevin Conroy as Batman/ Bruce Wayne encountering a new murderous vigilante called The Phantasm that targets crooked criminals with ties to his past - involving an old love and a certain Clown Prince of Crime that is iconically voiced by Mark Hamill.

No specific release date has come for Batman: Mask of the Phantasm yet in Blu-Ray.

Celebrating 15 years of "Justice League Animated"

This week marked a lot of celebrations and anniversaries for a lot of franchises and properties that have stood the test of time, but one series that certainly became the "Gold Standard" in the way modern day superhero shows set the bar is Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment's "Justice League" - which aired on November 17, 2001 and is set in the same DC Animated Universe that began with 1992's Batman: The Animated Series, continued with Superman: The Animated Series, and eventually expanded into this powerful team that united The Man of Steel and Dark Knight alongside the likes of Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern John Stewart, Hawkgirl, and Martian Manhunter J'onn J'onzz!

Running for two seasons and eventually evolving into the much expansive "Justice League Unlimited", this is the DCAU at its finest... And one year from now, we will be getting the DC Films' equivalent with the Justice League movie!

Batman: The Animated Series turns 24 years old this week

On September 5th, 1992 - one of the most ICONIC characters in comic book history received what is arguably known as the "Definitive" TV Series adaptation of his world to date, as Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski developed "Batman: The Animated Series" - an animated feature that ran for 85 episodes and follows the exploits of the DC Comics character Batman as well as his world in Gotham City and beyond. After the success of Tim Burton's two Batman films, the series was developed by Timm and Radomski - using the Burton films as inspiration and developing a film noir style cartoon that continues to be a timeless classic any Batfan can watch and enjoy. The series was also known for bringing together a diverse cast of voice actors that brought the characters to life - with Kevin Conroy serving as the definitive "Voice of Batman" and Star Wars legend Mark Hamill becoming the certified voice of "The Joker" as well with his iconic insane laughter behind the maniacal portrayal of the Clown Prince of Crime.

The music, composed by Shirley Walker and adapted from Danny Elfman's iconic score to the Burton Batman films, is just something to behold.

Following the success of BTAS, film features were made as well as several other DC Animated shows that were set in the same universe, leading to Superman: The Animated Series, the futuristic sequel Batman Beyond, and the union of DC's super heroes with Justice League. 24 years later, Batman: The Animated Series' influence is without a doubt something that any Batfan can be very proud of. ICYMI: Batman and Robin from the 60's reunite for "Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders"!

HOLY COMEBACK BATMAN! Looks like Batfans who enjoyed the 1960's Batman Television Series will be getting an animated feature based on the characters from that show, as stars Adam West and Burt Ward will be reprising their legendary roles along with Julie Newmar's Catwoman for the upcoming film "Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders"!

NYCC '15: Batman: Bad Blood trailer released

Giving fans of DC Comics a taste of the next DC Universe Animated Original Movie to hit early next year, DC All Access have a preview of the newest Batman animated film coming, and it's called "Batman: Bad Blood". In what appears to be a nod and adaptation of storylines that include "Batman and Robin", Dick Grayson/ Nightwing stands in for Bruce Wayne/ Batman when he disappears, as new members of the Bat-Family appear when Gotham is under siege from new enemies.

DC Universe Animated Original Movies: Batman: The Killing Joke could get an "R" rating

Looks like one of the most anticipated DC Universe Animated Original Movie adaptations may be getting a more mature setup, as upcoming DC Animated film director James Tucker announced during the "Batman: Bad Blood" First Look Panel at the New York Comic Con that the animated film adaptation of "Alan Moore and Brian Bolland's "Batman: The Killing Joke" may be getting an "R Rating".

According to the story Comic Book.com, Tucker commented that Warner Bros. may allow more mature content to be done to the treatment of the film: "You know, they (WB) said we could make it R. Not saying that's what it will be, but we'll see."

Set for release sometime in 2016, The Killing Joke is hailed as one of the best Batman stories of all time, centering on one strong possible origin of his greatest nemesis  - The Joker. The graphic novel also details the Clown Prince of Crime's random and sinister attacks on The Dark Knight and his closest allies, which includes the shooting and paralysis of Barbara Gordon.

In San Diego Comic-Con, anything can happen at a moment's notice... And after screening the newest DC Universe Animated Original Movie in this July's "Justice League: Gods and Monsters", Bruce Timm and the rest of the panel of Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment took the opportunity to announce the next upcoming project they have in store... And it's none other than the long awaited animated adaptation to Alan Moore and Brian Bolland's seminal Batman/ Joker story that is "Batman: The Killing Joke"!

As one of the most requested adaptations to be made, The Killing Joke is a story that has been incorporated into existing Batman canon, and sees Joker's possible origin explored as well as the paralysis of Barbara Gordon/ Batgirl and the torture of her father Commissioner Gordon.

Son Of Batman: Cover Art and Release Date revealed

Following the release of the first trailer to the film accompanying "Justice League: War", Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment has revealed the official cover art and release date for their next DC Universe Animated Original Movie feature based on Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert's seminal Batman tale,  "Son of Batman".

Featuring the introduction and tale of Batman meeting his child prodigy with Talia al Ghul named "Damian Wayne" for the very first time, the animated feature is a adaptation of the 2006 storyline of the same name, except this time this version features Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke, targeting Damian after seemingly eliminating his grandfather, Ra's Al Ghul. Trained to kill and use lethal force by the League of Assassins since his birth, can Batman prevent the son he never knew he had from using deadly force... Or getting himself killed in the process? Report: DC Animated producer Bruce Timm stepping down

The end of an era has arrived for DC Animation, as reports in the web verify that Bruce Timm, the legendary creator of the DC Animated Universe, has stepped down from his role as DC Animated producer.

Having been a prominent presence in Warner Bros. and DC Comics since the early 90's, Timm co-created and produced the critically acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series, which would help redefine and popularize The Dark Knight in mainstream media and usher in the creation of the "DCAU", which expanded its reach with the release of Superman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited.

Along with Paul Dini, Timm was also responsible for the creation of the beloved Batman character and The Joker's girlfriend. Harley first appeared as an exclusive character in BTAS, but her popularity and warm reception by fans soon allowed her to spill over to other DC media, including regular DC Continuity.

Bruce Timm's departure was first reported by Visions of Krypton, then subsequently by other popular comic news sites such as Newsarama. His recent works remain etched in the minds of fans, especially with him serving as producer for several of the DC Universe Animated Original Movies, including recent animated adaptation of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. Replacing him is former storyboard artist James Tucker, who has quite the experience and resume working in DC Animation. Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy says Flashpoint is DC's next animated movie

Those looking for more Flash centered features or lead on animated films to DC The New 52 may finally get their wish after all, and as the tagline goes: "Everything will change in a Flash".

While being interviewed by Comic Book Club, famous Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy said he's currently doing work on DC Comics' next animated film feature, revealing that it's "Flashpoint" - based on the 2011 storyline by Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert that centers around Barry Allen/ The Flash and an alternative timeline where everything is not what it seems. If that's true, then the popular actor who voiced the Caped Crusader in Batman: The Animated Series and Batman: Arkham City will be voicing the Batman from Flashpoint, who's revealed to be none other than Thomas Wayne, Bruce's father who survived the mugging attack instead of his son. While there has yet to be an official announcement from DC Entertainment, it's a safe bet that it will be coming real soon. Justice League: Doom Canadian Cover Art revealed!

Via Comic Book Movie, DC Nation has released the Canadian cover art to their next DC Universe Animated Original Movies feature, Justice League: Doom. The film, which is loosely based on the classic Mark Waid JLA story "Tower of Babel", sees Batman's secret files of every member on the Justice League stolen, and thus is summarily exploited to render his allies helpless. The Canadian cover art alone foreshadows this indirect betrayal of The Dark Knight to his teammates, with Batman fron and center, holding a batarang that bears a reflection of Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Superman, and Cyborg.

Featuring the voices of Tim Daly, Kevin Conroy, Susan Eisenberg, Michael Rosenbaum, Nathon Fillion, Carl Lumbly, and Bumper Robinson as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash (Barry Allen instead of Wally West), Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Martian Manhunter, and Cyborg respectively, Justice League: Doom looks to be an exciting tale not to be missed by DC fans out there. Loosely based on the classic Mark Waid JLA storyline "Tower of Babel", where Batman's protocol secrets of taking out his own teammates if they should ever go rogue are stolen by one of his greatest enemies, Ra's Al Ghul, Doom will take the basic premise of that plot, and have the Legion of Doom instead using Batman's secrets to incapacitate the Justice League.

SDCC '11: Batman: The Dark Knight Returns confirmed as a DC Animated film!

Fans of DC's ever growing animated film line up may get the surprise of their lives next year, as Warner Bros. and DC pretty much confirmed during the San Diego Comic Con that one of the most beloved Batman stories would be getting the toon treatment... As a two-parter even!

That's right, Frank Miller and Klaus Janson's The Dark Knight Returns is being adapted! The EPIC tale of an aged Bruce Wayne coming out of retirement and returning as Batman in a distant future is going to be made into DC's next animated film sometime in 2012. The Dark Knight Returns will most likely be released after the two animated movies slated for launch within the year, which are Justice League: Doom and Superman Vs. The Elite. Not much details were given on who will be voicing who, but good rumor and word is that legendary Batman: The Animated Series actors Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are being considered for Batman and Joker again, and if that's true, things will be so much more AWESOME going for this movie.

Catwoman animated short to appear in Batman: Year One!

TV Guide and Spinoff Online revealed some pretty interesting details for those looking forward to Warner Bros' new DC Animated film "Batman: Year One", as the feline fatale and co-star of the feature Catwoman will be getting her own animated short attached to the upcoming home video release! Playing Catwoman in the 15 minute adventure will be none other than Buffy The Vampire Slayer star Eliza Dushku, who also voices Selina Kyle's alter ego in the main Year One featurette. In the story written by veteran Batman scribe Paul Dini, Selina goes toe-to-toe with Gotham mobster Rough Cut, racing with the crime lord to find a cargo shipment located somewhere in the city.
