ICYMI: "Transformers: War For Cybertron Trilogy: Siege" trailer debuts at New York Toy Fair 2020

Debuting during the Transformers segment of Hasbro's Preview Event showcase of upcoming toys and merchandise, Netflix has released the very first trailer to their upcoming CG animated series "Transformers: War For Cybertron Trilogy: Siege". As the title implies, the show is based on the brand new toyline of Transformers and is the first part of a new trilogy exploring the legendary war between the Autobots and Decepticons in their homeworld of Cybertron.

While no release date has been given for Siege, expect it to arrive pretty soon as Hasbro and Netflix hype up Transformers fans for "More Than Meets The Eye" surprises.

Steve Rogers returns as Captain America this July!

With the new movie coming out this July 22, it was only a matter of time until this happened (again)!

Announced by Marvel Comics and reported by the likes of Newsarama and The New York Daily News, Steve Rogers will once again don the stars and stripes uniform and take up the shield, as he once again becomes Captain America in the new Captain America #1 comic coming out this July, taking the reigns away from his partner Bucky Barnes, who is the current Cap at this point of time. Longtime scribe of the series Ed Brubaker will still retain his position as the writer of the new relaunched title, with Civil War illustrator Steve McNiven joining him for art duties! That's right, Cap's getting a reboot and going back to #1 on the serial lists, just in time for the movie and for new readers to catch up on.

The news comes as both amusing and disappointing to hear about. It's great to have Steve Rogers back in the uniform and all, but I've taken to and respected Bucky Barnes run as Cap for the duration of Brubaker's run on the title. Ever since he "killed off" Rogers in the aftermath of Civil War and placed his onetime WWII partner on the costume, he's done great things with the character and did wonders showing that he certainly can wield the shield if push comes to shove. On the other hand, nothing will replace Steve Rogers - He's the one true Cap and there's no denying that the role was tailor made for him since he became the one and only Super Soldier to exist. It was fun seeing the role passed and poked around, but ever since Steve returned (and in a rushed and underdeveloped "Captain America: Reborn" storyline I might add), it already foreshadowed the inevitable happening - that he's going to be Captain America again sooner or later. We saw two Caps fighting together during the events of Siege, but Rogers willingly dropped the responsibility to Bucky so he could give his friend a new sense of purpose and direction, while taking up the mantle as the new "Top Cop/ Nick Fury" of the Marvel Universe. So much has come to pass in the Captain America stories since ED Brubaker took over, and I've stuck around the title since the writer made the jump to it way back in November 2004. It's fitting that he gets to relaunch it again in time for the new flick... but will I stick around and still collect it? Only time will tell for sure. The prospect of having Steve McNiven as artist only adds fuel to the fire. We'll just have to wait and see come July... which also has Chris Evans taking up the mantle in the big screen adaptation flick - Captain America: The First Avenger!

Comic Book Review: Siege #4

At last, after weeks of delays and anticipation for what's coming next, the final issue of Siege finally hit shops, bringing the early 2010 Marvel mega-event to its conclusion. However, after taking a seat and reading through over 3o pages worth of comic book action, this is all I have to say...

This is it. The final battle for the fate of Asgard and Earth is here. Everything will change once everything is said and done, and how it will affect the entire Marvel Universe remains to be seen.

Oh my god, I don't know what to think anymore.

After all the time spent on comic-altering events like Avengers Disassembled and Civil War, we get a lackluster ending that's more disappointing than it is anti-climactic. I enjoyed the build up the first few issues... and now we get THIS ENDING?! Forgive me for saying this, but I don't have the heart to describe the events in great detail other than point out the flaws and predictability this entire issue gave out to its readership. Squandering Loki and Norman Osborn's villainy was one thing, but turning the Sentry into the Void and giving him a send off like that?! Preposterous. Look, I'm all for the Heroic Age and the return of Captain America and the Avengers to prominence and all, but it really could have been done in a more convincing manner. I feel cheated, and absolutely disappointed that everything built up in Civil War has gone down the drain, becoming nothing more than a passing mark in the oh-so-flawed continuity of the Marvel Universe. What's more, all the evil and corruption Norman Osborn has spread through the Dark Reign has quickly dispersed in a mere four issues, and it sucks just to think that everything is "back to normal" just like that. This is worse than bringing a dead character back to life so effortlessly (Captain America Reborn, I'm looking at you), and it makes me wonder how things would have been if careful planning and better storytelling were involved.

Brian Michael Bendis did a number years ago when he broke the Avengers and sent their entire ranks into a spiral of comic book hell. He rocked our world by introducing an all star cast in New Avengers, and spearheaded several tales and events that would see them thrown into different situations resulting in epic stares and showdowns. I find myself utterly speechless at the way he capped Siege, and it's sad to note that while I'm glad good guys finally get their absolution from all the superhero registration hubbub, I'm not convinced by the transition to the Heroic Age. Like I said earlier, I feel cheated by the way this issue presents itself, and all that mattered in the political landscape of the Marvel Universe suddenly falls off the window.

Bendis has been known to be a dialogue centric storyteller, but none of that is felt here in Siege. It's as if Marvel just wanted to end the confusion and attract new readership by presenting the Heroic Age, unflawed and full of innocence again. Seeing the plan of making Asgard the final staging ground between good and evil just didn't really grab me much in the beginning, and seeing how everything goes after the smoke cleared is just displeasurable. I wanted to see a final battle worth talking about. Instead, all I'm gonna be talking about is how an omnipotent entity like The Void could have his ass kicked so easily by... A Hellicarrier?! Not only that, but Loki himself has a change of heart... and dies a pathetic death? Everything here is a fleeting moment, and if it wasn't for the heroes getting their victory handing it to Osborn's ass the way he deserves it, I wouldn't be paying attention to Siege at all. Olivier Coipel's art is still striking, but even that can't save the fact that this issue, or the entire Siege for that matter, is all about the hype for quick change, not superb storytelling.

Since the end of Siege brought about the end of the previous core Avenger titles, you may want to catch up on those as well, including the one shot epilogue books - New Avengers Finale #1 and Siege Epilogue: The Sentry Fallen Sun. These and the other tie-ins are not required reading if you just followed the bigger tale, but they expand the story in great detail and see how the heroes deal with certain issues in the aftermath of the fall of Asgard. Now that the Heroic Age is coming, expect a new number of Avengers related books to hit shelves starting next week, and while I'm happy to see new team ups and the good guys back in the saddle, it all feels repetitive and not too exciting anymore (save for the Secret Avengers, which is written by Cap scribe Ed Brubaker). I'll probably put my Avenger radar on standby anyways, but for what it's worth. Siege #4 just didn't deliver to my expectations. Hopefully for you reading this, it will be different.

Marvel.com has unveiled the cover to next month's Siege #4 by Olivier Coipel, showing just about every main character on the Avengers side as they witness a new breed of chaos ready to engulf them! If you haven't read Siege #3 yet, then chances are you won't know what I'm talking about. Rest assured though, before the Heroic Age begins, the heroes will have to brave the storm and put an end to the madness unleashed by Norman Osborn once and for all. Stay tuned.

Comic Book Review: Siege #3

Finally, a new comic book review! I've been neglecting time to post down my thoughts on the latest comic crazes that are hitting the shelves, but that's what happens when you got too many things to do and barely enough time to review an issue. I hope I can change that with the next few books arriving soon, as the big two comic companies are hitting the final stretch mark for their respective events! This month, Marvel has finally amped the performance up with "Siege" by showing us the throwdown we've all been waiting for - Steve Rogers/ Captain America and his Avengers vs Norman Osborn/ Iron Patriot and his Dark Avengers, with the fate of Asgard hanging in the balance! It's not even the final issue yet, and so many things are happening here that it's bound to be a megacolossal conclusion next month, as only Brian Michael Bendis and Olivier Coipel can tell it!

Norman Osborn is out of control.

As Asgard lies in ruins and its people all but fallen, the Iron Patriot proceeds to lead his H.A.M.M.E.R Agents and his Dark Avengers in for the kill. However, hope arrives in the nick of time, as a familiar red, white, and blue hero swoops in and delivers a thunderous shield slash to Osborn's chromed helmet. Captain America and his Avengers have arrived, and they aim to take back Asgard in the name of justice. With the battle being broadcast live and throughout the world, the President Of The United States makes a decision to support Cap and his allies, as well as issuing a warrant for Osborn and crew's arrest, citing them all for treason. With things falling in their favor, it seems the Avengers have finally won the fight. But Osborn, not one to give up easily, unleashes his secret weapon against Asgard and the heroes in the form of The Sentry, who is now fully possessed by The Void.

Anyone expecting pay dirt from this event? Brian Michael Bendis delivers it right here, and in spades no less! The penultimate chapter to this four part series is one of epic proportions, and no doubt a lot of you were expecting the hero vs villain team smackdown to begin after last issue's cliffhanger ending! Indeed, seeing Cap and the heroes take on Osborn and his cronies puts a little smile to my face, after bearing the Dark Reign of the megalomaniac for a couple of years now, it's great to see the bad guys get what's coming to them. The much awaited "fall from grace" of Norman Osborn is something we've all been waiting for, and having gained the ire of the president of the U.S.A, he slowly sees his empire crumbling, with Cap, his allies, and the American military unleashing their collective might against H.A.M.M.E.R and its agents. Also, certain heroes who were cast in supporting roles in previous issues have their time to shine here, and after bearing the worst from Norman's tyranny and oppression for months now, it's sweet payback time for them. However, never count a power hungry maniac out yet, as Norman's got a few tricks to dish out before he goes, most notably with his lapdog, the Sentry. He's the wild card who's been easily manipulated by Osborn since he took power, and as his "ultimate weapon", it falls to the confused superhuman's hands to deliver a counterattack so dreadful that nobody could see it coming. It's a shocker that'll leave fans of the Asgardians wondering what their fate will be after everything is said and done, and with the Sentry still on the loose, we can't know what happens in the end until the next issue hits next month.

Olivier Coipel displayed powerful artwork in the previous issue, and he hasn't faltered one bit on this one either. It's great to see him draw the hero vs smackdown segments, and everything you'd expect from a major event starring most of Marvel's big guns is truly awe inspiring. I don't think the last issue will fall behind with the pencils either, and Marvel really has a strong talent working for them here. For his work on Siege, I'm looking forward to more projects from Coipel in the future. Guaranteed, it's going to be just as awesome.

With everything being said and not giving any specific detailed spoilers, Siege #3 is a must read, especially if you're into the Marvel Universe and have been following its events like twitter updates. Everything happens here to set the change in landscape in the coming months, which is the eventual ushering of the Heroic Age. While the series still has an issue left next month to cap things, the stage has been set for a battle that will decide the fate of a number of people, and no one can say what the outcome will be, save for the creators themselves. Look forward to the end.

Siege: Fallen Teaser: “Who Will Fall In The End”?

Marvel's big event, Siege, has yet to end, but the House Of Ideas is already cranking up the teasers and images of what's to come in a few months time. This one in particular, however, shows a hero falling in battle, and the war for Asgard has yet end before we find out who's bought the farm in the sky. The teaser you're looking at now is the cover to "Siege: Fallen" - a one shot due this April that will wrap things up and show heroes mourning the death of "who knows what". No writer has been announced, but the art will be by Tom Raney, with the cover art above by Leinil Francis Yu. Stay tuned for more updates as it comes via Marvel or Newsarma.

Comic Book Review: Siege #2

Last week's comic haul was one of awesome and it kept the reading pace up in a nice way. In fact, Siege #2 was part of the assortment, and it prompted a lot of people to head on out and see what the second chapter of Marvel's latest event could offer after last issue's short ending. After grabbing my copy and reading through it, all I can say is... BOY, DID IT DELIVER! By leaps and bounds, this book came, saw, and just landed the biggest excelsior and selling point that fans were feverishly expecting. The big pay-off that would solidify this as a must read for Marvel Comics fans is in this baby, and if you haven't hopped on board yet, now is the time to read on and find out why this will be the staging ground for the big changes the MU will experience in a few months time.

Norman Osborn and his forces have launched a full scale assault on Asgard, home of the Norse Gods and of Odin's son, The Mighty Thor. Among those leading the charge against the Asgardians is Ares, who clashes headfirst with the city's new king, Balder The Brave. Their duel is cut short though, as an injured Heimdall reaches out to the God Of War, making him realize the folly of his judgement. Now knowing he has been used by Osborn, Ares plans to rip the megalomaniac to shreds. However, swift retribution may be harder to grasp, for standing in his way is the highly unstable yet powerful powerhouse of Osborn's Avengers, The Sentry. While all the chaos unfolds, the newly returned Steve Rogers assembles his team of heroes to confront Osborn and his cronies once and for all.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't impressed with Brian Michael Bendis right now, and yeah, he just did another one of those "OMG" moments that definitely make Siege an attention getter for the definite Marvel affectionado. I wasn't too big on the "Osborn vs Asgard" idea as a climax for the Dark Reign, but looking at how everything comes together here and now, everything feels just as it should be, and I'm enjoying the ride for all it's worth. Truth be told, the first issue was just a warm up, and now that we're building up to the main course with the second one, the appetizer delivers some sweet cheese people can salivate and talk about until the next month arrives. The best moments are the action driven parts, as well as the scene were Cap "pep talks" his posse into getting ready for battle - you know he's pissed and he's the man who's going to do something about it. However, The focal point of this issue is definitely the Ares vs Sentry throwdown, and just as the solicits and promo ads promised, an Avenger died a gruesome death in this issue. I won't spoil who goes, but it should be fairly obvious who it is. The reprecutions of this act will probably be felt later on, but Bendis has planted the seeds of it already, and who knows what chaos will be derived from it afterwards. Osborn's the guy you just gotta hate, and I can't wait to see his ass get kicked in a big way... which may just happen next issue!

While Bendis is known to incorporate plenty of dialogue into his books, this issue strikes a good balance between that and Olivier Coipel's fantastic art, which do great things in telling a completely mesmerizing tale visually. True, he's gotten more fans impressed with his work on Thor, but he also delivers a mean looking Sentry here, and the images do the talking of how badass the man with the "power of one million exploding suns". Certain characters and sequences are portrayed differently with some inconsistencies, but there's no doubt that the man has talent, and he draws action scenes and story driven moments on an epic scale level. Marvel did a great job picking him to pencil this event, and since it takes place on Asgard, I find no other suitable candidate for the job.

Overall, Siege #2 did a very good job than the previous issue. I personally enjoyed the hell out of it, and without collecting the tie-ins, it can stand on its own as a big and major event to read. I said it before and I'll say it again - it delivered the big wow fans drawn to the first issue were expecting, and this is the appetizer people will dig into before craving for the main course - which is the final battle to decide the fate of the entire Marvel Universe. I haven't seen this kind of excitement from a Bendis written event since Avengers: Disassembled, and judging on how good this series is building up to be, I'm not so surprised either. Disassembled was a four issue book, and now Siege will end things with four issues as well. It's a cycle that comes full circle, and with chaos comes the harmony that will eventually fold into the new and bright Heroic Age. Pick this book up if you want epic and awesome guaranteed.

Forging The Avengers...

Once SIEGE ends, every Avengers title will cease and desist, and out of the ashes will rise a new ongoing series to bear the name of Earth's Mightiest Heroes come May this year. Marvel has teased the line-up with their recent Heroic Age banner, and via CBR and Newsarama, the House Of Ideas has revealed more information about their upcoming new book - namely the creative team behind it. Once again riding in the Avenger saddle is none other than long time writer Brian Michael Bendis. and joining him in the endeavor will be none other than John Romita Jr., who has drawn many of Marvel's heroes throughout the years.



It's still a few months away til the Dark Reign officially wraps up and the Heroic Age begins, but that won't stop the promotions from rolling. Illustrated by Romita Jr, Marvel has revealed the first member of the new NEW Avengers line-up, and as expected, it's Bucky Barnes, who will continue to wear the mantle of shield of his friend and mentor Steve Rogers as the NEW Captain America!

Avengers forges on to a new beginning come May! Watch out for it!

Comic Review: Siege #1

It's my first comic book review of the year! Break out the war drums and arm yourselves, because the Marvel universe is in the midst of war once more. "Siege", the newest comic saga by the House Of Ideas, is finally out and available in comic shops near you. It's a series that tots itself as "an event seven years in the making" - a statement that refers to the grand culmination of everything that has transpired since "Avengers: Disassembled" began in 2004, leading to a series of events that rocked the foundation of the Marvel Universe. After 2008's "Secret Invasion", Norman Osborn, aka the Green Goblin, rose to power and began his "Dark Reign" over the entire MU, organizing his own set of Avengers and systematically destroying anyone and anything standing in his way. Now setting his sights on Asgard, Osborn, with assistance from Loki, devise a plot that will allow the madman to launch a full scale attack on the realm of the Norse Gods, which will help him seal his authority over everything. Now with a plot like that and the reassembled cast of Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man, you have the makings of an epic before you, just waiting to be picked up and read by fans around the world.

Norman Osborn, leader of H.A.M.M.E.R, the Dark Avengers, and mastermind of the Cabal, wants Asgard. Partnering himself with Loki, he sets into motion a plan that will help him take over the city and place it under his watch. Venturing off his home and into Earth in search of adventure, the Asgardian warrior known as Volstagg is attacked and thrown into a battle that causes more collateral damage than good, giving Osborn the authority he needs to launch a full scale invasion. Mobilizing his troops and assaulting Asgard, the Gods are thrown off and are forced to fend off his attack. Seeing his city under fire, Thor rushes in to take on Osborn, but his forces are too great and too many. Will the Thunder God and his friends fall to the Siege, or can someone stop Norman Osborn before his insidious plan comes to fruition?

As far as first impressions go, I find the entire thing okay and a little too predictable.

While I wouldn't call the first issue a weak start, it certainly doesn't get me jumping off my seat. The entire book smells a whole lot like "Civil War", only with Brian Michael Bendis taking over writing duties and throwing in a "Hero vs God" plot into the mix. I'm haven't been privy to many things happening with Thor lately, but his new look, resurrection, and bringing Asgard to the mortal plane make for interesting stories as of late, and apparently now is the time for a confrontation that will shake both worlds to the core when all is said and done. Responsible for "the destruction of the Avengers", Bendis is a solid writer who has proven time and again he can blend superb action with pretty pieces of dialogue, and the same holds true for Siege. Like I said earlier, I'm not too blown away by the start of things, but the pacing alone feels like Avengers Disassembled, so things are picking up steam slowly but surely. I do like the fact that he's utilized many characters, both prominent and not, especially ones who have been overlooked through the years and have become pivotal in making the "Siege" come to pass - case in point being Volstagg. The large and hearty member of the Warriors Three has been used as an unwilling pawn, and his part in the Stamford like tragedy makes you feel for the hero and despise Loki and Osborn even more for putting him in such a tragic front. As the book follows through with this, Osborn gets to work, assembles his troops, and begins his own invasion of Asgard, which the Gods have to repel as best they can. While the heroes have yet to assemble and counter this, Thor takes the initiative and rides into battle alone. Since it's the first issue, there isn't that many mind blowing action sequences yet, but the Thunder God and Dark Avengers supply a little appetizer to get everything going, with a special one page spread of a hero who has recently returned and will begin to make his move. These visuals, courtesy of penciler Olivier Coipel, are just exotic and amazing to take in. His work on Thor was excellent, and if any of you enjoyed that, then you will definitely be taken aback by his work and detail on Siege.

As an event to end all events, Siege lands on the mediocre scale as far as beginnings go. Since we have yet to see how things will unravel from this point, all I can hope for is an epic struggle that will have the heroes fighting and shining brighter all the more. My favorite characters have yet to show their faces in battle, so I guess I'm sticking around until everything wraps up in the next three months. Anyone who's been following the Marvel events since Disassembled and Civil War owe it to themselves to pick this up and see things through. Otherwise, they can wait for the results, or if you're a newbie, this is a good start to a wonderful outcome, which promises to be the "Heroic Age" of Marvel comics after all this is said and done. Bring it, Bendis and Coipel!

Behold: The New Iron Man Armor...

Marvel.com has revealed the new look of Iron Man, which Billionaire playboy Tony Stark will wear and ride into "Siege". With "Stark: Disassembled" running its course and chronicling Tony's return from the abyss that is his lost mind, this armor design is a fitting "rebirth" of sorts for the brilliant industrialist, and according to writer Matt Fraction, its design is said to be based on an "ergonomic and aerodynamic" standpoint - an Iron Man that is "leaner, sleeker, and tougher" combined. It's an interesting armor design, and one that bares a closer resemblance to the Mark III design used in the Iron Man movies, save for the additional and prominent gold outlines. Set to debut on "Invincible Iron Man #25", Stark's new look symbolizes the return of his prominence as a hero, and together with Captain America and Thor, reunite the world's mightiest heroes as they face Norman Osborn and his lackeys amidst the siege of Asgard.

Another "Siege" Teaser!

Venturing around the comic kingdom news, Marvel.com and Newsarama have released yet another teaser poster to the upcoming crossover event, "Siege"!

What Price Victory indeed? The Mighty Thor is sure to find out, as he's getting his goldilocks hair handed over to him by the Iron Patriot and the rest of the Dark Avengers in this image! Siege is still coming this January, so hold on to your butts and prepare for war in the Marvel Universe!

As expected from the guys behind the House Of Ideas, Marvel has put together a trailer for their upcoming new crossover event called Siege! Anyone who has been keeping tabs knows that this involves Norman Osborn's quest to conquer Asgard, home of The Mighty Thor and his trickster half-brother, Loki. Since the beginning of "Dark Reign", Norman's grip on the Marvel Universe has been tight, and it'll take the revival of Earth's Mightiest Heroes to put a stop to his plans. More "Siege" To Come...

Marvel hasn't been holding back on their promotion of their latest event, Siege. In light of that, Newsarama has has a post showing three more teaser images straight from the House Of Ideas. You can check out the rest of the other images via the link, but this one below just struck me as curious:

Just as the poster states, what IS this "secret weapon" Norman Osborn's got under his sleeve? If it's about Asgard, there's a good chance Odin's involved. The Beyonder and Scarlet Witch are highly unlikely, but they always pop out of the woodwork when you least expect it. I doubt Thanos will be back anytime soon after his death at Annihilation, but then again, ANYTHING can happen in the Marvel Universe. I'm tempted to say Mephisto, given that he and Osborn share a mutual concern with Spider-Man. Still, it's a little too early to tell. For now, let the speculations commence and see what the Siege will bring to everyone involved.

The Siege is coming...

Since the events of Civil War, Secret Invasion, and the still ongoing Dark Reign, Marvel has been chalking up the crossovers like there's no tomorrow. The Marvel Universe hasn't been the same since Captain America died, and in the aftermath of the Skrull Invasion, Norman Osborn has taken over the world (literally) and booted out Tony Stark from S.H.I.E.L.D, converting it into the new organization known as H.A.M.M.E.R. However, the tide is slowly turning back to the heroes favor, with the Avengers reassembling once more and Steve Rogers' return coming to fruition. Still, the bad guys aren't gonna go down without a fight, and Norman's sowing the seeds of conflict that will signal his bid to take over Asgard, the home of the Mighty Thor. This is what "Siege" is all about... the latest conflict that will either bring Osborn and his allies to their knees, or signal the end of the Marvel Heroes as we know them.

With the new event/ crossover still due on January, Newsarama shares a picture from Marvel.com showcasing a new Siege teaser image that could add a new layer of twist to the saga to come.

Ah yes... Cap and Iron Man face to face after such a long time. Yet, with Steve's fresh return and the recent troubles and brain drain Tony has been facing, will this meeting happen, or does this image signify a major change in the Avenger status quo? Only time can tell for sure. Now, we can only speculate and wait...
