Announced at this year's Tokyo Game Show and reported by Event Hubs, a new game mode called "Omega Mode" has been announced... Ultra Street Fighter IV Retail Launch Trailer
Go grab "Ultra Street Fighter IV" now for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC!
Gearing up for a mid-year release, Capcom prepares to unleash its latest update in the Street Fighter IV franchise by teasing up some new features for "Ultra Street Fighter IV" coming for the Arcade, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC. Their newest trailer showcases one of those new additions... In the form or an "Edition Select" feature that allows players to select a version of their favorite character from past Street Fighter IV installments and use them in battle! This basically holds the same principle as "Hyper Street Fighter II", a version of say Ryu from SF IV can fight Sagat from Super Street Fighter IV... And a lot of different match combinations ensue.
So whatever alterations, nerfs, or balance changes may have come... There's no excuses anymore!
Here's the trailer courtesy of the official Street Fighter YouTube page, and as reported by Shoryuken.com.
Ultra Street Fighter IV Edition Select Trailer
Ultra Street Fighter IV hits consoles and arcades on June 2014.
It's been a good 26 years for Capcom's signature brawler franchise Street Fighter, and through the years there's been a number of sequels, upgrades, spin-offs, crossovers, and just about anything that involves our favorite world warriors. The latest build and release, Street Fighter IV, will be getting its latest upgrade next year with Ultra Street Fighter IV, bringing with it some new fighters and some new mechanics to add some new dynamics to the franchise before an eventual new sequel turns over.
Meanwhile, Events Hubs (as shown from Kotaku) has created this excellent visual graph of Ryu's evolution wit each installment and spinoff from the Street Fighter franchise.
And here's something nostalgic from Sonic Hurricane...SF? Ryu Exhibition (Evo2k9+OHN8 Edition).
It's still due sometime in 2014, but Capcom has released a slick new trailer that shows off the features to expect on their next BIG update to their Street Fighter IV franchise - Ultra Street Fighter IV.
Via Capcom and Gamespot's YouTube Page, here's the new teaser for the update coming next year.
Ultra Street Fighter IV - Official Trailer
Ultra Street Fighter IV hits Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in both retail and DLC on Early 2013.
Due for release next year and adding another new update to the latest installment of the series, Capcom has released new artwork and location test footage showcasing new gameplay mechanics to expect from the upcoming new Street Fighter IV update, Ultra Street Fighter IV.
In addition to adding new characters to the roster such as Elena, Rolento, Hugo, and Poison, new mechanics such as "Red Focus" and "Ultra Combo Double" have been incorporated into the game, adding new dynamic features that change the playing field of this brawler altogether. It's the big time for fighting game fans and players worldwide, as Evolution 2013 brought together some of the biggest and baddest brawlers from around the planet to test their skills in one of the biggest annual tournaments in the Fighting Game Community (you can also watch the stream LIVE while it's going here via Kotaku)
That being said, there's going to be plenty of memorable matches and players when the dust settles and the final list tally comes up, but EVO 2013 also gave rise to some pretty intense announcements, especially with two games I've had the privilege of playing and enjoying as a player myself - Namely Injustice: Gods Among Us and Street Fighter IV.
Those itching and praying for a new Darkstalkers game from Capcom may have just gotten their wish!
At Capcom'sNew York Comic Con 2012 panel, Street Fighter IV producer and game scribe Yoshinori Ono unveiled to the world a teaser that signifies that "Darkstalkers Are Not Dead", and a new game is certainly underway! Thanks goes to SuparstarX and EventHubs for this piece of news, and below is the teaser footage via SuparstarX!
This video I caught off Kotaku shows how diverse and beautiful the fighting game circuit can be... and how it'll take a man places as he builds himself up and primes himself for the nasty fight ahead. In this fan video by Geek, this guy in a track suit wanders the streets of Japan to muster up the courage and determination to go over to Shibuya Kaikan Monaco, one of definite arcade's in the world, to prove himself in Street Fighter IV. It's a pretty creative project if you ask me, and the theme they used, a remixed version of Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger", is just awesome to hear. Check it out in the embedded player below.
Man, I do love fighting games. Anything can happen. ANYTHING.
If there's anything about fighting games that I can relate with other people, it's the road one takes to prepare and train themselves for the fight ahead. I just came from a tournament myself this weekend, and I can certainly tell you that moments like these sure take a lot out from you, even before the real fight begins. However, if someone is dedicated to what they like and what they play, that passion carries them over, and fuels them with the energy and concentration necessary to see them through to whatever result lies in the end.
Such is the case with Mike Ross, one of the world's top Street Fighter 4 players. Having won 4th place at this year's EVO Championship Tournament, Mike has proven time and again that he is dedicated to his art and craft... but what exactly does he do to prepare himself prior to the competition itself? That is question that filmmaker Steve Hwang answers as he puts together a documentary that covers Mike's journey down the road - from preparation in the summer to competing in the EVO 2010 Tournament itself. Check out the trailer to FOCUS:
Focus: A Documentary Trailer
Looking mighty interesting alright. I enjoy watching stuff like this, and it gives insight to what dedicated players go through when they play for passion and join a contest. I can't wait to see the whole documentary when it gets released this fall!
Announced this month, Street Fighter IV is getting a port for Apple's iPhone, and it's coming out this March already! Screens and captures have been seen so far, but how does the game run on the little portable cellphone device? As previewed in numerous SF Fansites, take a look at this video found youtube to see the game in action.
Wow... For an iPhone game, this looks neat! Even with the limited character roster, the graphics and animation are pretty decent for portable system standards. I'd love to see this on the PSP though, so Capcom, make the port and bring more SF goodness to other systems!
Most of us know by now that Street Fighter IV is heading to the iPhone next month, but would it be a surprise to hear that Capcom is also interested in a PSP version of the game too?
As reported on Destructoid, Capcom's Natsuki Shiozawa said she wants a PSP version of SFIV, and many of her colleagues expressed the same interest. So yes, there is a possibility that we'll be seeing Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and crew make the jump to Sony's portable gaming platform, joining the many numerous fighting game titles already available for the system such as Tekken 6, Soul Calibur, and soon to be released BlazBlue. As someone who enjoys the PSP and considers the portable a good system for fighting games, I don't think it's impossible to make the game a reality. Namco was able to scale down and bring a pretty neat translation of Tekken 6 to PSP, so why not the same with this game? Please Capcom, bring SFIV to the PSP!
What would have been a "No Way" moment turned upside down rather quickly with this announcement.
As reported in IGN and Kotaku, it seems Capcom is bringing the lovely and decorated brawler known as Street Fighter IV to Apple's mobile accessory device, the iPhone, this coming March. Now how and why they decided to bring the latest sequel of the brawler that started it all to the iPhone I do not know. But like all fighters and gamers out there who just got wind of this news, the questions that come to mind is "why?", and "how will it play?". Hopefully we'll be getting more detailed answers soon. In the meantime, only stalwart Ansatsuken fighters Ryu and Ken are confirmed for the port, along with a few other oldies and newbies from the 2.5D fighting game. You can read more about the news from Kotaku's link here. I just hope with this game coming up, there's a PSP version waiting to be made and announced for the real portable fighting game experience.
Abel. The man with amnesia and a mysterious past that eludes him. Why am I suddenly talking about this guy? Well, for one thing, he's a fighter with unique moves to use and exploit in the latest incarnation of Street Fighter, and while he's not as memorable as Street Fighter III's Alex, people playing Street Fighter IV have and will learn how to respect him once they see this guy up close and personal. In the meantime, let's look at an interesting factoid about the character I found.
Last night while browsing the web, I chanced upon this Kotaku post, where an initial character design and sketch of a Street Fighter IV character was revealed. The drawing was of an effeminate judo fighter, who was actually the prototype of what was to become Abel, one of the four new fighters who made their debut in SF IV. While it would have been confusing to see the French fighter we know turn out like this, it's an interesting design that could be recycled into a new character that could appear in the upcoming Super Street Fighter IV. Then again, I'd rather see Makoto from SF III: Third Strike make a comeback. Moving away from that, let's talk about Abel again, and how he turned out to be in the final product, which looked like this:
Despite his menacing looking presence, Abel is actually quite a humble person, and likes to apologize a lot. Any of you who's played Street Fighter IV should be quite familiar with his background. He's a french mercenary and mixed martial artist whose past is shrouded in mystery thanks to his state of amnesia. He enters the tournament to investigate Shadaloo and the mysterious organization called S.I.N, as they may have the answers he is looking for. By the game's end, not much is resolved from the story save for his connection to the game's final boss, Seth. I won't be spoiling the details though, as there may be readers who'd like to do a little digging on Abel's past themselves. Let's just say it's a pretty common Sci-Fi plot device, and it's just a simple matter of putting two and two together. You'll figure out the rest right away.
As a fighter, Abel likes to get up close and personal with opponents, with more emphasis on grappling techniques. He's the kind of guy who'll come up close and unleash severe punishment on the people who like to block a lot. True, he's not a full grappler like Zangief, but he makes up for brute strength by adding a little speed and flexibility to his arsenal. You can see the guy in action through this video link, demonstrating a fight between him and the Emperor Of Muay Thai, Sagat.
SF IV Fight - Abel vs Sagat
Abel's supers also require successful hits and openings in order for them to connect and deal massive damage. They can be used as a finisher to chained combos, and his ULTRA combo is devastating if it successfully connects. Funny thing about it is it looks EXACTLY like Captain America's "Final Justice" Super Move from the Marvel Vs Capcom games. See the comparison below:

Then comes the other...
Abel performing his Ultra move, called "Soulless"
See the similarities? Despite that, Abel is a force to be reckoned with. Never underestimate him in battle.
