Batman: Arkham Origins Revealed

Fans that have anxiously waited for a sequel to the stellar Batman videogames that are Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City are in for quite the surprise, as the May issue of Game Informer has revealed the brand new game coming this fall and starring The Dark Knight once again... Batman: Arkham Origins.

Thanks to a report by Kotaku, and as teased and hinted through reports of domain registration featuring the title of the game and rumors that it will be set before the two Rocksteady Studios games, Batman: Arkham Origins is indeed a prequel, and will be the first game to be developed by a different studio, namely Warner Bros. Mark Wahlberg is Nathan Drake in the Uncharted movie!

Seems like gamers looking forward to the Uncharted film adaptation finally have their lead... and it's an actor who's been in an action movie and videogame role before.

According to a post in Screen Rant, Mark Wahlberg has landed the coveted role of playing protagonist Nathan "Nate" Drake in the Uncharted movie based on the first game - Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (which I coincidentally got earlier this week as part of my old game collection package!). The film, based on the Playstation 3 video game series of the same name, depicts the character as a modern day treasure hunter in an action adventure/ third person shooter of a game that has death-defying stunts and thrills similar to an Indiana Jones or Die Hard flick. In fact, Nate Drake's character appearance is modeled after Jackass star Johnny Knoxville, so you can see where all stuntman looking resemblance comes from.

With the news of Mark Wahlberg being cast in the role of Nate, I don't know what to feel at this point. I totally respect the actor, and he's a fine one at that, but I just don't see the Nathan Drake persona resonate from him. Heck, Marky Mark played Max Payne in the 2008 film adaptation of the video game of the same name, and that didn't really meet expectations of the fans at all. Let's hope that the star of such films as The Departed and Shooter will be able to pull this role off. The film, based on the first game Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, will be helmed by director David O. Russell, with Joe Pesci ad Robert De Niro also slated to star alongside Mr. Wahlberg. No new details have risen so far, but for more info on this update, check out the source article at Screen Rant.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is slated for a 2012 release.

MGS4 + Castlevania PS3 Bundle Pack!

By way of Kotaku, it appears that Sony and Konami will be releasing a new Playstation 3 Bundle Pack containing two of Konami's best titles for the system, namely Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and the recently released Castlevania: Lords of Shadow! The package will include the new 160gb PS3 slim model, and the two aforementioned games. Anyone who hasn't gotten the system yet may want to take advantage of this bundle, but the catch is that it'll only be available in Japan, priced at ¥37980 (US$471) and to be sold this December. Personally, I still prefer my MGS4 80gb bundle, which is the older model that can still play PS2 games, but this pack has more hard disk space, and comes with two games to start newbies off well if they haven't gotten a next gen system yet!

Meet and Play as Kratos' Brother, Deimos, in God Of War III!

Leonidas?! Nah. This guy may look like Gearard Butler's character in 300, but he's actually the brother of God Of War's main protagonist, Kratos, and his name is Deimos!

According to Kotaku and the official Playstation Blog, Deimos will be a downloadable skin that can be used in God Of War III in the PS3, available to those who purchase early copies of the upcoming PSP title, God Of War: Ghost Of Sparta! Unlike his well-known brother, Deimos will sport "enhanced combat damage and the ability to receive 4x the amount of Health, Magic, and God Orbs. Sounds like a mighty incentive worthy of a true Spartan player, and good enough reason to replay God Of War III again!

God Of War: Ghost Of Sparta unleashes its fury for the PSP this November 2.

Prepare For Hard Corps Uprising!

Most of you all know and remember the side-scrollin' shooting game Contra. Do you remember Contra: Hard Corps for the Sega Genesis though?

I was reminiscing about this game a few days ago with some friends. It was the one and only Contra installment to feature four different types of characters to choose from. Also, players could carry and select four different types of weapons they pick up as they progress through the game, and branching paths led to a number of different scenarios the player could explore, unlocking multiple endings in the process. Yeah, this game was good for it's time, and being more of a Genesis owner during the 16-bit Console War, it was a nice addition to the collection I had back then.

Contra: Hard Corps Gameplay

Now the latest word is that a sequel is coming up... A spiritual sequel to be exact!

As you can see from the pic above featured in a post by IGN, a new Contra game is coming! Announced by Konami, Hard Corps Uprising is the latest Run N' Gun shooter to be coming from the minds behind Contra, and is set to be released for the Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network in fall this year! Colonel Bahamut, who was one of the main baddies of the original Hard Corps game, is now in the side of good and one of the main characters the player will control alongside a partner to combat alien forces in this game of machine guns and spreads! Only two characters have been confirmed for the game so far, but Konami may put up downloadable content that features more characters eventually! The artsyle of the game is anime inspired - primarily because Arc System Works, the guys who did the Guilty Gear and Blazblue series, are developing the game! That sounds like a lot of fun to my brain to contain, and I'm really looking forward to playing this baby already!

For more info, check out IGN's post!
Hard Corps Uprising is a downloadable game due for Xbox 360 and PS3 on Winter 2010!
