Happy Fourth of July and Happy Birthday Steve Rogers - aka Captain America!

Today is July 4th  - marking the celebration of Independence Day in the United States of America AND the fictional birthday of one of the greatest superheroes in comic book history! On this day on July 4, 1918 - Steven Grant Rogers was born in the Marvel Universe -  a scrawny kid with a sense of idealism, patriotism, and justice who would soon volunteer for "Project Rebirth" and be injected with the Super Soldier Serum to transform him into a powerful warrior for the allies in World War II. While it proved successful - he would end up being the only successful "Super Soldier" as the scientist responsible for the serum would be assassinated. Dedicating himself to become a symbol as much as a weapon for justice - Steve Rogers donned the stars and stripes, wielded the shield, and became the sentinel of liberty known as Captain America!

So yes, today is the birthday of Cap! Whether you know him from Marvel Comics, his time fighting in the present alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes in the Avengers, or his portrayal by Chris Evans in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - the character of Steve Rogers doesn't just wear the flag and fight for America - he fights for the ideals and beliefs of the dream, freedom, and justice wherever it may be. I've been a fan of the character in many forms of media, and it's always been a treat to honor one of my favorite characters in comics - whether it be through my collection or through cosplay!

Happy Fourth of July and Happy Birthday, Captain America!

Hot Toys unveils 1:6 Marvel Studios: The First 10 Years Captain America Concept Art Figure

Hot Toys collectors and Captain America fans will have plenty of reason to get hype for what's coming in the next few months, as the Hong Kong based toy manufacturer and Marvel have unveiled a brand new 1:6 concept figure of Captain America - based on the concept art of Marvel Studios' Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinderding's concept art of Cap with an interesting Avengers' Steath Suit which was featured in The Art of Captain America: Civil War!

Besides being sculpted in the likeness of actor Chris Evans - who portrays Captain America/ Steve Rogers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, the new Concept Art Cap follows closely to his "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", "Avengers: Age of Ultron", and "Captain America: Civil War" suit counterparts in terms of look, but the design here goes darker than ever and removes the star in favor of an "Avengers" logo in the left breast! Also this Cap figure has his two familiar shields with him - the iconic circular one and his WWII heater shield - all painted in stealth colors!

The concept art figure is to honor the First 10 Years of Marvel Studios and is revealed during Cap's 100th birthday this year (which is also the Fourth of July) - so those looking to grow their Cap collection better pre-order it at their nearest shop! Happy Fourth of July! Steve Rogers, the original Captain America, celebrates his birthday today!

Happy Fourth of July to all the people in the United States celebrating their Independence Day today! While it certainly is a public holiday stateside, this date also marks the fictional birthday of one Steven Grant Rogers... Better known to the comic book world as Captain America!

Yes, Cap's birthday is July 4, as detailed in his profile and even the Marvel Wiki. To top it off, this year marked his 75th Anniversary and the long awaited return to active duty (complete with new costume and a controversy that's now explained with the most recent issue released).

In honor of the Star Spangled Avenger's day as well as July 4th, here's a trailer chronicling the evolution and journey of a "good man" into the hero we know him to be.

While there's been much fights and story changes through the years, Cap will always embody the ideals and beliefs of what freedom and independence is! Happy Birthday Cap!
