Anthony Mackie Shares New Photo From “Captain America: Brave New World” for 4th of July

It’s the 4th of July in the United States, and that means the USA is celebrating its Independence Day with posts and commemorations! Among those honoring their national holiday is Hollywood star and new Captain America actor Anthony Mackie - who shared a new image of his return as Sam Wilson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for “Captain America: Brave New World” - which he posted on his Instagram and shows off the new Cap suit Sam will be wearing while wielding the shield for a new adventure.

Captain America: Brave New World hits cinemas on February 2025.

Happy Fourth of July and Happy Birthday Steve Rogers - aka Captain America!

Today is July 4th  - marking the celebration of Independence Day in the United States of America AND the fictional birthday of one of the greatest superheroes in comic book history! On this day on July 4, 1918 - Steven Grant Rogers was born in the Marvel Universe -  a scrawny kid with a sense of idealism, patriotism, and justice who would soon volunteer for "Project Rebirth" and be injected with the Super Soldier Serum to transform him into a powerful warrior for the allies in World War II. While it proved successful - he would end up being the only successful "Super Soldier" as the scientist responsible for the serum would be assassinated. Dedicating himself to become a symbol as much as a weapon for justice - Steve Rogers donned the stars and stripes, wielded the shield, and became the sentinel of liberty known as Captain America!

So yes, today is the birthday of Cap! Whether you know him from Marvel Comics, his time fighting in the present alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes in the Avengers, or his portrayal by Chris Evans in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - the character of Steve Rogers doesn't just wear the flag and fight for America - he fights for the ideals and beliefs of the dream, freedom, and justice wherever it may be. I've been a fan of the character in many forms of media, and it's always been a treat to honor one of my favorite characters in comics - whether it be through my collection or through cosplay!

It's the Fourth of July today, and a certain Star Spangled Avenger from Marvel Comics celebrates his fictional birthdate today AND the release of his new ongoing series with a brand new issue #1! That's right - Marvel is celebrating the birthday of Steve Rogers, better known to the world as Captain America - and a brand new series by Ta-Nehisi Coates, Leinil Francis Yu, Gerry Alanguilan and more is out today! With plenty of variant covers to choose from ranging from the great Alex Ross to the legendary Mike Zeck and even Adam Hughes and Ron Garney, this is a celebration for the Sentinel of Liberty no Cap fan should miss - especially on his birthday! Captain America: 13 Foot 75th Anniversary Bronze Statue coming to SDCC '16

In honor of the Star Spangled Avenger's 75th Anniversary as well as the timely birthday celebration of Steve Rogers this Fourth of July, Marvel is going to unveil a 13 Foot Bronze Statue of Captain America at this year's San Diego Comic Con - which happens in just a few weeks time! The news broke via USA Today - paired along with an image of a sketch of the upcoming statue that has the inscription "I'm just a kid from Brooklyn". That line of course comes from 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger, where a defiant Steve Rogers tells the Red Skull that he's just an ordinary guy who was chosen by Dr. Erskine because that's what he is in addition to being a good man.
