Oscar Isaac cast as Solid Snake in Jordan Vogt-Roberts' Metal Gear Solid movie

The internet has exploded and we get the fitting "!" sign in our heads, as Deadline has reported that "Star Wars" Sequel Trilogy and "Dune" star Oscar Isaac has been cast as Solid Snake in the upcoming live-action Metal Gear Solid movie to be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts! The film is currently in development by Sony Pictures, and is based on the Tactical Espionage Action video game series of the same name created by Hideo Kojima that started in the original PlayStation way back in 1998.

Isaac is keeping pretty busy now that he's playing the legendary soldier who was a member of Foxhound. In addition to Snake, he was also recently tapped to play Moon Knight in the upcoming Marvel Studios TV Series for Disney +. This is definitely a good time for the Guatamelan-American actor!

No word yet on when Metal Gear Solid will be released, but we finally have a face behind Solid Snake!

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was released five years ago

Five years ago, one of the most anticipated games and what would ironically be the last collaboration between Konami and Hideo Kojima before the well documented controversy became public was released - as the long awaited "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" hit stores and shelves internationally on September 1st, 2015 for the Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. As a follow up to the stand alone prologue chapter that was "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes", The Phantom Pain was the true full MGSV experience and the first open world game in the series - utilizing the proprietary FOX Engine and putting players in control of Punished "Venom" Snake.

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN | E3 2015 Trailer [Long] (US)

Set primarily in 1984 and with the theme of vengeance at its core, Snake wakes up from a nine year coma and embarks in a journey of revenge and reestablishment following the loss of the Militaires Sans Frontieres. Reunited with Kazuhira Miller and joining forces with his old nemesis Ocelot, the man with the codename "Big Boss" leads a new mercenary army in "Diamond Dogs" - setting on missions in Afghanistan and the Angola--Zaire Border to track down those responsible for their misfortunes - the XOF, Cipher, and the mysterious Skull Face. Being an open world game, The Phantom Pain utilized familiar mechanics used in past MGS games but also allowed for near flawless movement in the environment - utilizing stealth and plotting your actions carefully to achieve goals and capturing enemies and bases in order to succeed in the mission.

Coincidentally, The Phantom Pain was released on September 2nd in Japan - the day Big Boss' mentor and mother figure was killed during the events of Operation: Snake Eater (MGS3)

With just TWO DAYS left until the latest chapter in the saga started by Hideo Kojima gets its worldwide release, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is generating a lot of positive buzz and reviews courtesy of the media and gaming market. Modder makes Hideo Kojima "playable" in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

So... What would happen in Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima was actually made into the "hero" of a Metal Gear Solid game?

Well fans and modders wondered just the same, and with the man's character model appearing in "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain", they went right to work in creating a "playable Kojima instead of Snake" (actually swapping character models).

Thanks to Kotaku and YouTube user Adrien DS, here's the gameplay video to tell the tale.

ICYMI: Hideo Kojima reveals his Xmas surprise to Metal Gear Solid V fans- The Chicken Hat

If you were among the many diehard Metal Gear Solid fans who tuned in to a livestream for an announcement on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain from none other than the franchise's creator Hideo Kojima... Then you were in for QUITE THE SURPRISE.

And "Surprise" is an understatement when it involves revealing a special item Big Boss/ Venom Snake can use and has him wearing a silly "Chicken Hat". As reported by Comic Book.com and Kotaku, this cluckin' item made the headlines.

However, it's not just ANY Chicken Hat. It's an item players can get in The Phantom Pain - where if they fail and die numerous times, they shall be rewarded with this poor excuse of headgear which ACTUALLY helps to make Snake slightly undetectable! It's a choice and it will certainly look ridiculous... But it has its benefits for those willing to go the distance! Check out Kojima's announcement via this YouTube clip of the segment.

"Did you rike it?" - Hideo Kojima

And of course, no official release date for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has been announced yet other than it comes out for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC sometime in 2015.
