If you were among the many diehard Metal Gear Solid fans who tuned in to a livestream for an announcement on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain from none other than the franchise's creator Hideo Kojima... Then you were in for QUITE THE SURPRISE.
And "Surprise" is an understatement when it involves revealing a special item Big Boss/ Venom Snake can use and has him wearing a silly "Chicken Hat". As reported by Comic Book.com and Kotaku, this cluckin' item made the headlines.
However, it's not just ANY Chicken Hat. It's an item players can get in The Phantom Pain - where if they fail and die numerous times, they shall be rewarded with this poor excuse of headgear which ACTUALLY helps to make Snake slightly undetectable! It's a choice and it will certainly look ridiculous... But it has its benefits for those willing to go the distance!
Check out Kojima's announcement via this YouTube clip of the segment.
"Did you rike it?" - Hideo Kojima

While visiting Paris to promote the launch of the first "prologue" chapter of his MGSV experience that is "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes", legendary series creator and video game developer Hideo Kojima took time to "sneak in" at a local Micromania video game store in the country and do something that Snake would literally be proud of his maker for.
And here is Kojima "sneaking in" in this awesome new commercial video by Kojima Productions and Konami and via the official Metal Gear SolidFacebook Page.
Hideo Kojima infiltrates Micromania [Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes]
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is now out for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One consoles worldwide.
Fans anxiously awaiting the release of Hideo Kojima's next installment of his epic Metal Gear Solid franchise won't have to wait too soon, as the first half of what makes up Metal Gear Solid V finally has a release date. The head of Kojima Productions has officially announced during an interview with XBox Wire that the prologue entry, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, is geared up for release on the first quarter of 2014 - specifically March 18, 2014 to be exact!
Much like its Playstation Portable predecessor Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Ground Zeroes will once again feature the return of Big Boss/ Naked Snake and his Militaires Sans Frontieres, continuing the events from the previous game and seeing the legendary soldier lead his army in a rescue and retrieve mission in a mysterious black site called Camp Omega located somewhere in Cuba. The game will also carry over gameplay mechanics and base building from Peace Walker, while incorporating some new innovations such as "day and night cycles" and new ways to sneak and chart a path through the story while retaining the main message behind it.
After confirming its release for both the Xbox One and PS4 in addition to current generation consoles, Konami and Kojima Productions up the ante for MGS fans in E3 by releasing yet another "extended director's cut" 9 minute trailer for their next "Tactical Espionage Operations" game, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Check out more action from the next game featuring Big Boss and his comrades in an open world MGS game powered by the new "Fox Engine".
The Electronic Entertainment Expo 2013 is currently happening as of this post, and Microsoft just wrapped up their E3 2013 presscon, showcasing what to expect from their newest and upcoming eight generation console, the Xbox One. Priced at $499 and coming this November 21st, the new console is home to some exclusives like a new Killer Instinct game (ULTRA COMBOOOOO~!) and Dead Rising 3, as well as unique Microsoft titles like a new Halo and an impressive new mech shooter called "Titan Fall". However, the console is also getting something extra... And that's Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Hideo Kojima, Konami, and Kojima Productions have dropped the bombshell announcement and have announced that the mysterious "Phantom Pain" and "MGS Ground Zeroes" BOTH make up MGS V... formally known at Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain!
Announced and unveiled during Kojima Productions' "The Core of MGS: Ground Zeroes" panel discussion, the new game utilizes the new proprietary "Fox Engine", and Hideo Kojima formally introduced the mystery game "Phantom Pain" as MGS V by unveiling a trailer that remains an enigma but fleshes out some details of what to expect of the next tactical stealth game starring Snake!
Continuing the Metal Gear 25th anniversary celebration and as part of this year's PAX event, More details were revealed this weekend, as Konami and Hideo Kojima laid out the groundwork for his next installment in the Metal Gear Solid franchise with Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. The star of the game will be none other than the original Snake himself, Big Boss/ Naked Snake, and the adventure will serve as a prequel to what will be Metal Gear Solid 5. The game runs on the newest "Fox Engine" developed by Kojima Productions, and looks mighty impressive to say the least. Trailers can be found below, and more can be read up on the source post at Kotaku.
Despite saying the opposite and stating that the story of Solid Snake is finished, Hideo Kojima apparently isn't done with the legendary soldier yet, and has confirmed in an interview with Eurogamer that Metal Gear Solid 5 is in the works!
According to the interview, the next installment in Konami's Tactical Espionage Action series of stealth games will be built using Kojima Production's proprietary and under development "Fox Engine", with the game being more of an "Infiltration Game" ala Deus EX: Human Revolution. It's not known yet whether Kojima is going to direct or lead the project in some form or way, but his involvement is without question. The next Metal Gear game, a spinoff title starring Raiden called Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, is due for release sometime next year. Castlevania... That word alone evokes pleasant and frustrating memories from my videogame childhood that I dare not get into lest I provoke a lengthy nostalgic discussion. No, I come before you now to review the latest chapter in the saga that has redefined gaming time and again, and this time, the adventure sets itself up with ambitious goals via the power of next gen technology. That's right, the new game, Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow, is a new 3D adventure that departs from the traditional and establishes a new direction for the series. Does it falter, or does it manage to prove itself worthy of the mantle?
The Metal Gear Solid series is one of my favorite videogame franchises that I have had the privilege of experiencing from the moment it began in 1997, during the golden years of the original Sony Playstation. It can be said that Hideo Kojima weaved together a beautiful military drama masterpiece, rought with danger and laced with espionage themed action that would make even the most experienced player crack under pressure. I've gone through the motions of each installment, and arguably all of them have unique qualities about them that firmly establishes each one as a classic that stands the test of time. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for lead protagonist Solid Snake, who by leaps and bounds has sailed through his final and most tedious mission yet with 2008's Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots. That game, for the life of me, is sheer excellence when it comes to gameplay perfection, and it was practically the sole reason why I had to get Sony's monolith next and now current generation console, the Playstation 3. Now that it's done and finished, the adventures of Solid Snake have come to an end... but that doesn't mean the series is over. Fans have this baby to look forward to:
Oh yes, we've seen the trailers and previews these past few months, but here's a look at the official North American box art to Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker! Naked Snake, aka Big Boss and the protagonist of MGS 3: Snake Eater and the MGS: Portable Ops series, will be returning to the frontlines in this one, and will once again have to fend off enemies and avert a major crisis from happening. The great thing about this game, however, is that heavy emphasis will be placed on co-op and multiplayer, and that takes full advantage of PSP Capabilities. Up to four players can join in the fray, with two engaging in main missions, while four duke it out against powerful adversaries in boss missions. The standard MGS play formula has been tweaked slightly to adjust to this new gameplay style, and after playing Demo Ops alongside my fellow gamer friend Billy, I can attest how fresh and sound Peace Walker will feel and play upon its release this coming June. Stay tuned for more updates, and check out this new gameplay trailer for some insight on the cool things to come courtesy of Konami and Kojima Productions.
Many gamers out there can't wait to experience Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for the Playstation Portable next year, but there's a demo out at least to tide fans over while Konami and Kojima Productions work hard to make the next chapter in the Naked Snake saga another epic game to remember. In the meantime, scope out some of these fine artwork from the game itself as posted in Kotaku. It's not only the future Big Boss spotlighting the visuals, the other characters are there too, and some of them will look EXTREMELY familiar to fans of the franchise.
Naked Snake... aka Big Boss himself. Not a clone, but the one and only original. Nuff said.
MERYL?! Nah... it's a girl named, but it looks like Ms. Silverburgh
From the way this guy looks, it's Otacon's grandpa or dad. Will he be helping Big Boss out too? Hmm...
Wesker?! Nah, it's Kazuhira Miller... better known as MASTER MILLER to MGS 1 Fans!
