Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was released five years ago

Five years ago, one of the most anticipated games and what would ironically be the last collaboration between Konami and Hideo Kojima before the well documented controversy became public was released - as the long awaited "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" hit stores and shelves internationally on September 1st, 2015 for the Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. As a follow up to the stand alone prologue chapter that was "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes", The Phantom Pain was the true full MGSV experience and the first open world game in the series - utilizing the proprietary FOX Engine and putting players in control of Punished "Venom" Snake.

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN | E3 2015 Trailer [Long] (US)

Set primarily in 1984 and with the theme of vengeance at its core, Snake wakes up from a nine year coma and embarks in a journey of revenge and reestablishment following the loss of the Militaires Sans Frontieres. Reunited with Kazuhira Miller and joining forces with his old nemesis Ocelot, the man with the codename "Big Boss" leads a new mercenary army in "Diamond Dogs" - setting on missions in Afghanistan and the Angola--Zaire Border to track down those responsible for their misfortunes - the XOF, Cipher, and the mysterious Skull Face. Being an open world game, The Phantom Pain utilized familiar mechanics used in past MGS games but also allowed for near flawless movement in the environment - utilizing stealth and plotting your actions carefully to achieve goals and capturing enemies and bases in order to succeed in the mission.

Coincidentally, The Phantom Pain was released on September 2nd in Japan - the day Big Boss' mentor and mother figure was killed during the events of Operation: Snake Eater (MGS3)

Death Stranding now on its third week; Hideo Kojima tweets new poster

Riding on its third week in video game stores and shelves, Death Stranding has undoubtedly become one of the most ambitious and best-selling games as the year 2019 winds down to its conclusion. With its theme of "connecting people" and a science fiction post-apocalyptic storyline that is grand and epic in scale, the game marks a triumphant return for Hideo Kojima into the mainstream gaming world and a bold new beginning for his production company Kojima Productions. Many fans like myself have embraced this title, its gameplay, and its concepts, and to literally say "Tomorrow Is In Your Hands" signifies the kind of message Kojima wants to convey to his audience and players the world over.

Via his official Twitter page, Kojima-San shared this pretty awesome new poster - featuring Norman Reedus as Sam Porter Bridges alongside all the tools and machinery he uses as a porter working to rebuild the "United Cities of America" and connect everything back together.

Death Stranding is now available for the Playstation 4. The game is also one of the many nominees with several nominations for this year's "The Game Awards", which you can vote for now.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain: Limited Edition PS4 unboxing video by Geek Culture

With just TWO DAYS left until the latest chapter in the saga started by Hideo Kojima gets its worldwide release, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is generating a lot of positive buzz and reviews courtesy of the media and gaming market. Focusing on the continued story of one Naked Snake/ Venom Snake as he completes his evolution into the legendary soldier known as "Big Boss", this game will be open-world and redefines "Tactical Espionage Operations" as we know it, as well as it being the controversial last entry Mr. Kojima will work on with Konami after a dispute between the game developer and company that will see the former tender in his resignation following the game's release.

That being said, the game will also be offered alongside a LIMITED EDITION Playstation 4 console that is decorated appropriately after Venom Snake's robotic arm colors and bearing the Diamond Dogs insignia. Popculture fansite "Geek Culture" offers a first look at the unboxing of the Asia version of the MGSV TPP LE PS4... And it looks downright GORGEOUS.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain: "Stained in Blood" poster released by Hideo Kojima

In what is surely one of the most anticipated and controversial games coming out in a few months time, Konami and Hideo Kojima have released a brand new poster promoting the latest entry in the long running Metal Gear Solid series with "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain", which features Venom Snake/ Big Boss and the new character Quiet on the one sheet, all covered in blood and looking ready to take on anything coming against them.

The poster, tweeted by Kojima and posted on Comic Book.com, comes with the tagline in Japanese that's translated as "Stained in Blood, The Aftermath of Revenge", which pertains to Snake and his army MSF/ Diamond Dogs mission seeking vengeance for the atrocities committed against them. The poster also evidently lacks the "A Hideo Kojima Game" label that is always associated with every MGS game, as internal tensions and issues between Konami and Kojima-san will see the latter depart from the company after work on The Phantom Pain in finished.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be released on September 1.
